Load Testing of Bridge on Dedicated Freight Corridor near Aligarh

02:30
The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor with a route length of 1856 km consists of two distinct segments: an electrified double-track segment of 1409 km between Dankuni in West Bengal & Khurja in Uttar Pradesh & an electrified single-track segment of 447 km between Ludhiana (Dhandarikalan) - Khurja - Dadri in the state of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Due to non - availability of space along the existing corridor particularly near important city centers and industrial townships, the alignment of the corridor takes a detour to bypass densely populated towns such as Mughalsarai, Allahabad, Kanpur, Etawah, Ferozabad, Tundla, Barhan, Hathras, Aligarh, Hapur, Meerut, Saharanpur, Ambala, Rajpura, Sirhind, Doraha and Sanehwal. Since the origin and destinations of traffic do not necessarily fall on the DFC, a number of junction arrangements have been planned to transfer traffic from the existing Indian Railway Corridor to the DFC and vice versa. These include Dankuni, Andal, Gomoh, Sonnagar, Ganjkhwaja, Mughalsarai, Jeonathpur, Naini/Cheoki, Prempur, Bhaupur, Tundla, Daudkhan, Khurja, Kalanaur, Rajpura, Sirhind and Dhandarikalan. The Eastern Corridor will traverse through 6 states.

This machine will vibrate & compact the loose stone ballast after tamping for safe movements of trains. These machines have been manufactured in India under MAKE IN INDIA initiative with imported components. 42 more such machines have been planned to be included in Indian Railway maintenance fleet over next three years. History of Railway line in Allahabad Division of North Central Railway

02:57
The contract for setting up of the East Indian Railway was executed on 17.8.1849. It took 6 years of hard work for opening the first 120 miles of track out of Calcutta for a through line between Calcutta and Delhi. On 4.2.1855, during the period of Lord Dalhousie, the first train started from Howrah station, which ran 125 miles to the coal fields of Rani gang on the new track of 56 gauge. Further construction work of the Railway line suffered a setback due to the Outbreak of the war of Independence in 1857. The work was restarted on 27.11.1857 and the line up to Kanpur was commissioned in August 1858. It was during the period of Lord Canning, the then Viceroy and Governor General of India, that the East Indian Railway was successful in running the first train from Allahabad to Kanpur on 3.3.1859. Kanpur city was connected by Rail to Lucknow in 1875 and to Jhansi in1886. In April 1879, construction of Burhwal-Kanpur Meter gauge link was established and by 1909 B.B.C.I. entered Kanpur, thus making the present Allahabad Division an important link on the North-South and East-West routes. Today Allahabad Division forms the spinal cord of Indian Railways connecting the coal - steel belt of the Eastern region to the consuming areas. Having a total route length of 1070 kms, it encompasses Southern part of Uttar Pradesh and covers 21 districts. #KolkataDelhiRailLine #AllahabadRailwayDivision

Afghan-India Friendship Dam : Salma Dam on river Hari Rud , in Herat province of Afghanistan

Salma Dam is a hydroelectric power project that is built on the Hari River in Afghanistan’s Herat province. Since it was funded by the Indian Government, it is also known as Afghan-India Friendship Dam. The plant has a power generation capacity of 42 MW and is also a major irrigation resource that can irrigate 75,000 hectares of agricultural land. The dam location was connected by a 150-km dirt road to Herat. Nearest human habitation is also at least 50 km away from the dam. However, braving all odds and in extremely difficult conditions, the workers stayed on location for years and finished the work. The Dam was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani on June 4, 2016. The project is located 165 km east of Herat town and connected with earthen road. Due to security reasons Indian engineers and technicians involved with the project have been reaching the site once in a month by helicopter service provided by Government of Afghanistan. All equipment and material were transported from India to Bander-e-Abbas port of Iran via sea and then along 1200 km by road from there to Islam Kila border post at Iran-Aghanistan border and then further 300 km by road from the border post to the site. Cement, steel reinforcement, explosives etc. were imported to Afghanistan from neighboring countries. The gross capacity of the Dam is 633 Million M3. The height of the Dam is 104.3 Mt, length 540 Mt and width at the bottom is 450 Mt. Rs.1775 crore project was funded by Government of India and took more than ten years to complete. The successful completion of the project represents culmination of years of hard work by 1,500 Indian and Afghan engineers and other professionals in very difficult conditions. Credit: WAPCOS Limited

Dedicated Freight Corridor to decongest Indian Railways, More passenger trains from 2019

02:10
