MUNI – Masaryk University Brno

01:26
"Prague is the city of Gothic, Olomouc the Baroque city, Brno the city of functionalism. We are determined by our environment to seek beauty in simplicity and purposefulness," said Mikuláš Bek, the rector of Masaryk University in Brno, in May 2017 about Brno's architectural tradition, which makes the city world-known. Together with the brief that defined Muni as confident, attractive, truly modern institution, functionalism became the basis of our conceptualization of the new identity that will be fully launched with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the university in 2019. The interwar avant-gardes correspond not only to the university’s age, but also to the democratic values that the country’s second university today represents, as well as to its position of a younger, rather sassy sibling, who brings change the situation to a great extent relying on new technologies. Thus, the logo is a contemporary interpretation of the inscriptions on buildings of the Brno’s luminary architect Bohuslav Fuchs, as well as the work of the designer Ladislav Sutnar or the ever-living legacy of the Bauhaus. The custom typeface Muni by Marek Pistora, which is the basis of the logo and of the entire visual style, is monospace (i.e., it preserves the same space for all letters, wide "m" or narrow "i"): the basis of coding but also a sign of a certain democratic equality and universal educational base. The form here follows function not only in the simplicity of geometric lines, the building of the identity on the typeface, and the absence of decorations (in this case a symbol) but mainly by creating a functional, truly unified system for nine faculties of the university and many levels of its structures and workplaces. The university will gradually apply individual elements of the new visual style starting March 2018. The first to receive diplomas with the new logo will be the students graduating in October next year. Značka Valmez

02:01
Valmez není jenom hodinový hotel a autobusák.

National Gallery Prague

00:45
The winning visual style of the contest, to which ten studios have been called, builds on a distinctive logo inspired by the mission of the National Gallery as a space for the presentation of art. The logo defines context for different types of content (image, text, video) within the three letters of the abbreviation of the National Gallery in Prague, creating a memorable and variable brand. Color and visual style remain as open and vibrant as possible, just as the approaches of artists that are presented in the country’s most important gallery institution. The competition results are on view at Café Jedna in the Trade Fair Palace, Prague 7 from May 3 2018. Bomma

00:25
The success of Bomma stands on centuries old Czech glass tradition, modern technology made to order by the owner of the current glassworks, and recently also on the art direction of Studio deFORM (Václav Mlynář and Jakub Pollág). At the beginning of the development of the new visual style initiated by deFORM’s coming, the idea was to make the minuscule "b" only with the simplest of shapes. Now, some see a glass blow rod and a glass on its side. The contrast between the thin line and the bolder circle and the tension that arises in the place where the two shapes are almost touching refers to the fragility of glass products, especially the chandeliers made by Bomma since 2012. These assumptions stood at the birth of the entire alphabet, mainly in use for the names of Bomma’s collections. 2018 Client: Bomma Art director: Aleš Najbrt Author: Martin Vácha, Zuzana Lednická, Michael Dolejš Cooperation: deFORM (Art Direction) Font: Custom Type: Brand, Catalogue

reSITE Accommodate

00:21
The second year of the international “summit celebrating inspiring design, development and positive impact on quality of life in cities” with our visuals has the subtitle Accommodate. It asks what it means to be a better city when “gentrification and rising costs of living pose considerable challenges for city leaders, investors, planners and architects to design a city that works for everyone”. The heart of the city, which was taken over by nature last year, got under the knife now, cut into floors and occupied by inhabitants. The futuristic vision somewhere between Zaha Hadid and Jan Kaplický’s Future Sytems together with the American optimistic energy of the organizers turned happy even the usually melancholic illustrations by Jan Šrámek. The over-the-moon Utopia of a merry planet with acrobats and magpies reminds us of our lopsided situation.

RESONATE: Thinking Sound and Space

00:33
For everyone interested in acoustics and architecture MAAT museum and reSITE brought the world’s best creators of sound spaces and experiences to a one-day international event in Lisbon. The main visual motif of the event became the transformation of a curve of a record of pronouncing the word RESONATE into a 2D / 3D shape. Sound as an illusion of material is the cornerstone of a play in which everyone can record their own sounds and build streets, cities, and entire worlds from the resultant building blocks. Jiří Černický křtí knihu Dolby

10:07
Razítko s názvem knihy ručně vyřezal náš Jirka Veselka a Jirka Černický ho před každým použitím olíznul, aby se ke knize nepřilepil. Nic jinýho nefunguje, má to vyzkoušený. Večírky budou pokračovat.
