A flat stomach and a small waist is a goal of many women, and very often even extensive workouts don’t help, or we simply don’t have enough time or will power for those. The good news is that we’ve put together a set of exercises for your abs and waist that you can do without getting up from your chair. Remember warming-up is an extremely important part of any workout. Continue with oblique twists. Thanks to them, you’ll be kissing that muffin top goodbye and saying hello to a slimmer waist and stronger abs. Forward bends develop a muscle called the Rectus Abdominis, which is the long flat muscle that helps flex the spinal column. When trained properly, it’ll give you a perfectly flat and toned tummy. Knees to the chest give a nice workout to your thigh muscles and the Rectus Abdominis muscle. Leg raises are great at getting rid of that annoying lower belly pooch we’d all love to send packing. As you strengthen your abs, doing knee circles will get easier with time. Losing weight requires not only physical training but also a healthy diet. Try to keep count of how many calories you consume according to the number recommended for your age, gender, and lifestyle. Your diet must be well-balanced. Half of your daily calorie consumption should come from carbs, 30% from proteins, and 20% from fats. Foods containing Omega-9 fatty acids will make you feel fuller longer, so you won’t overeat. So, we put together this video of the 5 best exercises for men to help develop the muscles most wanted by women. Obviously, not everyone watching this will care about impressing other women. Whether it be other men they want to look good for, or simply just want to look good for themselves, this is sure to help. With that said, here’s the countdown of the 5 most desired muscle groups (as reported by women in an online poll) and the best exercises for men to do for each one. 5. Shoulders Wider shoulders help to create the V-taper and improve the appearance of a man even when wearing a shirt. There is no better exercise for building the medial deltoid than the side dumbbell raise. Lower the weight slightly and perform these in 1 1/2 rep style to accentuate the contraction of the delt and build your shoulders faster. 4. Biceps Having impressive biceps sticking out of your shirt sleeves signifies that you are serious about your body. The barbell curl is a great way to build up your biceps, however I show you a slight cheat to add as well that will help you to add more size. Be careful not to overdo the cheat however as you don’t want to take away all of the benefits of the exercise. 3. Chest Of course the chest was going to be on this poll right? In order to build your pecs, you’ll want to perform a version of the bench press. The underhand grip bench press is great because it activates the upper fibers of the chest even more than an incline bench press does while allowing you to perform the exercise in a better, safer shoulder position. For those that have shoulder discomfort with the regular bench press, this has an added benefit. 2. Abs No doubt a killer set of six pack abs is high on the list. To best get them, include a hanging ab exercise to intensify your ab training. Incorporate rotation into the move so you can additionally hit the obliques. Sharpening the obliques helps to visually improve the tapering of your waist, even if you tend to have a blockier waist. The hanging clock exercise is perfect for all of these reasons. 1. Glutes As somewhat of a surprise number one, the glutes are tops on the list of muscles women would like to see their men develop. As always with leg training, you want to train athletically. The sprinter lunge is a perfect opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. Leaning forward at the waist ignites the glutes and posterior chain much more than the quads. Jump on a treadmill. Go hard for one minute. Rest for one minute. Okay. It's a great way to get your heart rate up, burn calories, get that boost of metabolism, and get those washboard abs you're looking for. Another thing, water. You should be drinking at least three liters of water a day. It varies depending on your weight and your height, but three liters is really standard. Make sure you're drinking a lot of water. Last, but not least, completely underrated, you need to be getting sleep. You need to be resting at least six to seven hours minimal. I don't say eight anymore. Eight just is not reasonable. It's not real realistic for, especially for us New Yorkers. Eight hours is just not realistic anymore. So I say six to seven hours of sleep. You need sleep. People that don't sleep enough will overeat by 300 calories a day, okay? So make sure you're getting enough rest as well. Recovery is key.

In this video, I have a short 7 minute ab workout for you to do along with me. As you will see and feel, an ab workout does not have to be long to be effective. As a matter of fact, I would probably say that the longer the ab workout goes, the less effective it becomes. The key to this working is that it is short enough to allow you to do it on a regular basis without having to fight to schedule it into your day. Remember, the key to getting a six pack is consistency. Now, don’t think that just because you might be doing the same set of exercises that it is becoming less effective. It is not. The choice of ab exercises in this workout is broad enough so as to cover all of the major functions of the abs. There are bottom up movements that better hit the lower abs. There are rotational movements that are initiated from the bottom up and the top down to really hit the rotation capabilities of the core muscles. There are also top down movements where the shoulders are lifted off of the ground as opposed to the legs, which are situated at the end of the workout to allow you to keep training your abs when they are fatigued. When there are purposeful ab exercises in your workouts they do not have to be long. The point of this video is to give you a follow along ab workout that you can do anywhere. There are no special pieces of equipment needed to do this. All you need is your body and some space on the floor. You might actually need a bit more than that, and that would be a heavy dose of determination to try and resist the burn of these exercises as you do them. Remember, the pain from ab training is usually only temporary. As soon as finish the exercise and the lactic acid starts to clear the abdominal muscles, you feel normal again. See if you can follow the entire ab workout along with me, resting when I do. If you need extra rest for some reason, don’t be bashful - take it. Maybe you can only do 40 seconds of one of the 60 second exercises. That’s ok, do what you can and rest for the remainder of that exercise. As you get stronger on these you will be able to do the whole thing without extra rest.
