SAMIR NASRI | All Goals | Marseille | 1995 - 2008

03:42

FRANCE: MARSEILLE: ALCOHOL BAN EASED AHEAD OF WORLD CUP MATCH

02:29
Eng/French/Nat Under pressure from cafe and bar owners, authorities in the French city of Marseille on Thursday eased an alcohol ban imposed ahead of this weekend's World Cup match. But officials are determined to prevent a repeat of the clashes between English fans and Tunisian and French supporters in the resort. They have announced that security is to be heightened for the remaining matches in 10 French cities. The consumption of too much alcohol was partly blamed for the violence in Marseille last Saturday, Sunday and Monday. More than 50 people were injured and 80 arrested in the soccer hooliganism which damaged Marseille' Old Port district. At least 100 people remained jailed, and officials said 30 would be kept behind bars until the tournament ends on July 12. French courts have convicted four German and three English soccer fans and sentenced them to between two- and three-months in jail. Other English, Tunisian and German fans will be deported. Ahead of further World Cup matches in Marseille, authorities initially said alcohol sales were to be banned and bars and restaurants were to be closed by 11 p-m. But the strict alcohol ban led to an outcry from cafe and restaurant owners, who complained about the impact it would have on their businesses. It has now been agreed that alcohol be sold until midnight in cafes and restaurants and said they could remain open until 4 a-m. SOUNDBITE: (French) "The local authority wanted to enforce a law closing establishments on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11pm, the union could not accept this so we went to talk to the local authority yesterday afternoon and now all establishments will stay open on Saturday and Sunday until 4am." SUPER CAPTION: Paul Schianchi, President of the Cafe and Hotel Union Shops however are to be strictly forbidden from selling alcoholic drinks throughout the weekend, starting on Friday night. In the violence surrounding the England/Tunisia game, bottles were hurled or used as weapons. But some supermarket managers say the sale ban won't work. SOUNDBITE: (French) "If they see the bottles sealed away and we can't serve them, that's when there's the risk of trouble. They will say "You have the stocks but you won't sell them so we'll take them using force." SUPER CAPTION: Salem Ayaida, Supermarket manager One of the most criticised aspects of Monday's violence was the showing of the England/Tunisia match on a giant television in an open air arena. In Toulouse, where England next play, officials are considering closing bars early and forgoing large TV screens like the one on a Marseille beach, where ticketless English fans and local youths merged with dire consequences. But in Marseille there was confidence now that the problem had moved on. SOUNDBITE: (French) "What happened last weekend, well, the trouble was disappointing but today the party must continue." SUPER CAPTION: Dominique Vlasto, Deputy Tourism chief Some 2,200 police are to be on duty for the next World Cup match in Marseille. And riot police will be posted around the city for Saturday's match between South Korea and the Netherlands. Dutch fans are enjoying cafe society and soacking up the sun. Many however are unhappy at the bans on the sale of alcohol being imposed in Marseille. SOUNDBITE: (English) "I think it is a pity that the bars are closing and we can't drink beer any more because of the English fans." SUPER CAPTION: Dutch fan The citizens of Marseille are holding their breath and hoping that this weekend's match goes off peacefully. Going Places: travel-magazine TV's Tour de Provence stops by in Marseille

10:32
For many years, the busy port city of Marseille has suffered from a serious image problem. Dismissed for its down-at-heel reputation, urban decay and often alarming crime statistics, it‘s long been the black sheep of the Provençal coastline. But while it’s gritty, and not always pretty Marseille on the q.t. came out as a dynamic, edgy, bustling city that’s rich with more than 2,000 years of history. We made it to the Old Port. Here we found the only buildings rememebring Poppeye and French Connection. From the seaside you can see and enjoy the buildings, their architechture and the beauty of this neighbourhood. It‘s the starting point of our first destination, the Château d‘If. We enjoyed the time visiting some of the touristical landmarks. And, what made our stay so pleasant: we met people from all social classes with completely different education and origin. All of them, however, had two things in common: they all were extremely friendly and supportive and some of them would have liked to take us god knowes where. All of them were proud of their city which is really nothing to sneeze at. Chapeau.

FRANCE: MARSEILLE: WORLD CUP SOCCER FAN RIOTS UPDATE (6)

03:57
French/Nat Two English football fans have become the first supporters to be jailed for their involvement in riots which have plagued the World Cup for three consecutive days. Monday's swift court action followed another day of violent clashes and running battles between Tunisian and English hooligans and French police. At least a dozen people were arrested - several others were injured. The fresh fighting erupted as England and Tunisia kicked off in their debut match and followed a night of window-smashing violence in Marseille's Old Port area, which left 36 people in hospital - three of whom are recovering from serious injuries. As England and Tunisia battling it out on the field, their supporters clashed off the field. About a dozen people were arrested in rioting and violent street battles that spread through the Mediterranean port city before and after the match - which ended in a two-nil victory for the English. Inside the Velodrome stadium itself, all was calm during the match, the second to be played in Marseille but the first involving England and its often violent followers. The violence in the city started about the same time as England scored its first goal. The acrid smell of tear gas wafted through the stadium, about a mile from the beach. Windows were broken in some areas and two cars - one with a British license plate - were damaged. It was not immediately clear how many people were injured. Police had tried to place a lock on Marseille and restore calm earlier in the day. They brought in reinforcements, put a partial ban on alcohol and searched and escorted fans as they arrived for the match. But the tough crackdown had little effect. However, the French wasted no time in serving justice. Just hours after England's debut match, two English fans were jailed for three months, having been found guilty of criminal damage and inciting other fans to riot. The pair, both postmen from Liverpool, were also banned from France for a year. The French authorities have repeatedly said that British hooligans were largely to blame for the trouble. SOUNDBITE: (French) "The negative elements of which several hundred are British subjects, the famous hooligans, continue to create trouble in the town." SUPER CAPTION: Jean-Paul Proust, Prefect of Marseille During Monday's violence, hundreds of police, with riot gear, teargas and dogs, separated small groups of Britons from excited crowds of local Tunisians, who chanted and taunted. They were escorted onto waiting buses in a bid to disperse mass crowds. The English fought back when they could evade police lines. The latest riots outside the stadium itself followed a night of violence between drunken English hooligans and Tunisians, backed by gangs from north Marseille suburbs. The Sunday night clashes cut a path of destruction through downtown Marseille and left two people seriously injured - one with a slashed throat. On Sunday, police arrested 50 people in melees that left 37 people injured - most of them English. Mido Marseille Real Madrid 2003 2004 Champions League

00:12

NEW Mello™️ by Marshmello gear SHOP NOW ▶ http://mellogang.com Download Alone here ▶ http://smarturl.it/melloAlone A lot of people ask me where Alone and its lyrics comes from. Truth is, I had just moved away from my friends and family and I started to feel very home sick and lonely like I didn’t belong in my new settings. Everything was just happening so fast and I couldn’t really grasp where I was or who I was but all i knew was that I felt Alone. With the music video, we really wanted to send a message. Nobody knows how you feel, whether you’re homesick, away from friends and family, or if you simply aren’t like everyone else…its ok. The whole purpose of the Marshmello project and the Mellogang is to bring together people from every corner of the world and create a family…a family that we can all count on to never let us feel Alone. Watch Video here: http://tinyurl.com/jr2efug Our Story Life is crazy! The tide smashes even the best-laid plans to sand… and so it goes! This is a story about two people, who met by chance, were bound by fate and who continue to let the quirky side of life guide their paths! How else could a young man from a tiny town in Albania and a farm girl from the mountains of Montana meet in the middle, with a life guided by adventure? We met in Rome. Engjell was a waiter in a little Roman restaurant down by Trevi Fountain and I was a student abroad, spending a year in the Eternal City. There are some pretty cheesy movies about the giggly American girl meeting the handsome foreigner abroad, who then spend all their time bombing around ancient ruins on a shiny moped, hair blowing in the wind and smiles from ear to ear. And yet… serendipity delivers! We did fall in love and he did have a moped… In 2006, we moved back to the United States. We returned as a family of three, as little Fiona had been born in Rome at FateBeneFratelli, the hospital on an island… where all the Roman babies have been born for centuries! We moved often, looking for the perfect place. In 2010, we found an opportunity to open our own restaurant in Bigfork, Montana. We spent seven years and thousands of hours bringing the flavors of Italy to rural Montana. We were doing well! We were successful and busy and had finally bought our own home… we had a mortgage and car payments and a full-time, ultra-demanding job! We opened a second restaurant! We even added two more family members with the addition of Hugo and Remy! We were living the dream! Or were we? On the outside, it looked like we had it all… that success had reached out its hand and we had graciously accepted. But in reality, we were working 80-100 hours each per week, we rarely saw our three beautiful kids who knew the nanny better than they did us, and we were burned out… from too much work, from too little time spent together as a family, from life! We had bought into the well-oiled idea of success and were realizing quickly the fatal flaws in our plan. So we decided, together, to give it all up! We took the giant, terrifying, leap and sold it all to travel on a shoestring budget and let life teach us again, teach us anew, of what it looks like to be a successful human being! We are just beginning on this wonderful adventure! We have been traveling the U.S. for a year as a family in a motorhome. We are every day astounded by the diversity and creativity of both humans and Mother Nature. In July, we will set off for a one year trip around the world! This time, too, food and wine lead our adventure. We hope to dig deep into every culture as we go, unearthing culinary tradition everywhere we go! We plan to travel to places where we can stage and work in restaurants and vineyards to learn more and to ultimately be able to take what we have learned and start fresh…inspired, changed… wherever we end up. This trip is about re-defining success! It is about food and wine…about a plate of pasta or a shared bottle of wine, about experiences! It is about family and figuring out how we all fit together and what life’s REAL plan for us is! We invite you to join us in this crazy adventure as we travel the world! Engjell, Kaleigh, Fiona, Hugo and Remy

VEGA "I don't care" / LIVE premiere

The VEGA skate team just came back from a trip to Marseille, and they brought back a short video entitled I don’t care, in which the they take time to taste well the Marseilles's concrete, but also meet the local fauna in addition to the few well performed pirouettes with their boards. In any case, the thing we can be sure is that the title was not chosen randomly.

Everyone's skin is different and reacts differently. You may want to do some research and testing to see if a product is good for you. Keep in mind that no makeup product will take years off of your face. 🔹 Aging is a natural process. We just want to believe that a product helps with the hydrating and plumping and the looks of the skin, not reverses the aging process. Good health, good sleep, drinking a good amount of water, exercise, relaxed mind and body, all help as much, if not more, than using creams and serums. France’s Yellow Vest Protesters Just Won Against Macron (HBO)

04:44
According to local media in France, Macron’s government announced a moratorium on the hike in fuel prices today. The U-turn comes after Saturday’s riots in Paris which the government said were the worst they had seen in 50 years. It marked the third week of “gilet jaunes” or yellow vest protests across France, named after high-visibility safety jackets the French are required to keep in their cars. The movement first came together on social media to protest an increase in fuel taxes. But among chants of “Macron Resign! Macron Resign!” at the protest, it was obvious it had become about working and middle class being hit hard by the economic policies of President Emmanuel Macron. “We need a balance between the rich and poor in France,” Jimmy Moreno told VICE News among tear gas and water cannons at L’Arc de Triomphe. Jimmy came to protest peacefully and voted for Macron in the 2017 election but says he wouldn’t vote for him again. “He has shown himself to be cold-hearted and inhuman, little more than a banker, with no place governing a nation,” Jimmy said the day after the protest at his home in the Paris suburb of Argenteuil. “What's happening now because of the government's violent actions and the yellow vests' violent reaction, is representative of French history. Every time there is a shift in governance or a revolution, there is violence, it's unavoidable,” he added. The government struggled to negotiate with the yellow vests which is an a-political grassroots movement that has no clear leadership. But smashed shop windows, graffiti, and cars burning in the streets got the government's attention. “We need to violence to stop because the violence we had against police, against institutions last week is just unacceptable so we need it to stop,” said Aurore Bergé, a deputy in the French Parliament and spokesperson for Macron’s party En Marche!. Silver Skull - Old Frenchy

03:34
I do not claim anything here all rights go to their rightful owners so if it needs to be removed, I will remove it. Silver Skull was apparently a Marseille-based heavy metal band around 1981. Their sole registered output seems to be this 45 rpm. I’d like to share some meditation here. I first spotted the object in a little Marseille shop called Devant Le Juke Box in something like November of 1995. The product captured my imagination so the entity became a sort of a cultural deity me and my good friend Jacques Toad often referred to it in the wake of our Toads days, even before we would hear a single note of music from the actual record. This was nothing new to us. As soon as we met, this happened to be our language. At any given time, we would find ourselves in a place and evaluate how much of a « Silver Skull » place this was, as much as we would meet a human being and sense his persona similarly, according to a given entity’s quotient as well as we would consider how much of a « Hawkwind activity » any activity was and how much of a « Gary Numan thing » or a « 2000 maniacs thing » any given thing was, as much as we would give our version of the world according to our « deities » seemingly since we had a mind to sense the world. Of course, the “Silver Skull” figure was just a minor one in our cardination of the world (Jacques Toad thought droll if anything of heavy metal folklore back then) but it was a quick one that stood on in. Some reductive mind would of course believe we thought cultural icons were gods. That’s reductive. As i said, we would make different encounters and sense a common quotient, so to speak, of their different figures. I call now such a common quotient a deity. I have called them « spirits », « tropisms » and other things in my youth. But then, multiple deities would themselves have common quotients, resulting in some sort of a « hierarchy of spirits » from very material to very unintelligible. Many writers have written about things such as these but I haven’t read much neither Proust nor Jung, and i still have to, that’s it. I’m not a particularly religious person, i don’t go to churches and don’t confess a lot, but i think our sense of concrete and material is induced by our sense of abstract and spiritual, in proper intelligence with social relatives, thus religions.
