How to Find a Supplier on Alibaba & Find a Chinese Manufacturer

11:13
This video tutorial will teach you how to find a supplier on Alibaba & find a Chinese manufacturer. ►► Free Ebook - Make $10,000/Month Online: http://wholesaleted.com/4-step Here are our step-by-step instructions on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Step 1: Go to Alibaba and find the search bar. Type in the name of a product that you are interested in selling. In this video I used vitamin pills as an example. Step 2: Because a lot of suppliers have duplicate listings on Alibaba for the same item (because it increases their presence in the Alibaba search engine) you will need to filter the results by clicking on “browse by suppliers.” Step 3: To filter the results down further, search by “Gold Suppliers.” Most suppliers will do this because it has become basically a prerequisite for having new buyers contact them. It doesn’t cost them much money to do this, so the results will only be filtered by a small amount. Step 4 (OPTIONAL): If the list of suppliers is still too long, then click to filter the results by “assessed supplier.” This is only necessary in very popular niches where you have a large number of suppliers that you need to filter down to a manageable amount. Step 5: Contact 10-20 suppliers at least. If you have time, then contact more. The more you contact, the better. Here is the email template referenced in our video tutorial on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: "My name is [INSERT NAME] from [INSERT BUSINESS NAME]. Our company director asked me to contact your company about working together on a lucrative, long-term venture. We are a company that sells products related to [INSERT NICHE HERE] and we do over 2 million dollars in sales each year. We’re looking to expand our product range and create a profitable partnership between your company and ours. We are planning to purchase [INSERT ITEM] to our product line. It would need to meet these specifications: * Specification (e.g size) * Specification (e.g. quantity) * Specification (e.g. colour) We have been researching different companies in China that manufacture [INSERT ITEM] and we think that your company could be a great supplier for it. We would like to get some more information and have a few questions that we would like you to please answer: * Can we please get a sample of the product as soon as possible. Can you please let us know how much you will charge for the sample, including Express shipping to [INSERT COUNTRY], zip code [INSERT ZIP CODE]? We would like to pay with PayPal. * How long will it take to receive the sample? * What types of packaging do you usually use for this product? * How long does it take to manufacture once an order has been placed? * What is the product-per-unit cost including shipping via Air Express to the United States, ZIP code 85043? * Do you accept PayPal for the full-order?" We would be very grateful if you would contact us with answers to the above questions as well as any additional policies that we may need to know. We would also like to discuss with you further about doing a sample order for the product. We are hopeful that we can start a mutually beneficial relationship. Please add me on Skype and talk to me, as this is my ideal form of communication: [INSERT ID] Alternatively you can email me back at this address: [INSERT ADDRESS] Kind regards, [NAME]” Here are some final tips to keep in mind when you are looking to find a supplier on Alibaba to manufacture your Amazon FBA private label products: Tip #1 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Don’t judge the supplier/manufacture by their Alibaba response rate. The Alibaba response rate only takes into account how fast they respond within Alibaba’s email system, and it doesn’t take into account how fast they reply to personal emails. This is not a good indicator of how responsive they will be to private communication, which is all you should care about. Tip #2 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: Avoid manufacturers that try to vet your business. If a manufacturer comes back and starts asking questions about your business, clearly skeptical of the size of your company, it is best to move on. Manufacturers that do this will usually decline to work with you as they are only to work with other large companies, so you don’t want to waste your time. Tip #3 on how to find a supplier on Alibaba: It is OK to work directly with a sales rep - if they offer you a better deal. When you are looking to find a supplier on Alibaba, you’ll discover that sales reps often have inflated prices (due to commission cuts). But occasionally, a sales rep will have a better relationship with a factory and so are able to negotiate lower prices. They will also often have good english, making communication easier. Vet sales reps and treat them as equals during the process of picking and choosing the right supplier.

How to Buy Direct from the Manufacturer

02:06
Watch more How to Start a Business videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/405595-How-to-Buy-Direct-from-the-Manufacturer You can often buy merchandise at a significant markdown when you cut out the middleman and purchase directly from the manufacturer. Step 1: Research the product Use your computer to research the product you're interested in purchasing. Look at online catalogs and gather as much information as you can, such as the item's make, model, color, and identification number. You may also be able to find this information in a manufacturer's print catalog. Tip Many manufacturer's use codes to identify their products. Popular codes include UPC, EAN, SKU and ISBN. Step 2: Find the manufacturer Search the internet for the manufacturer's website. Many manufacturer's sell directly to the consumer through their websites. If not, the site may direct you to the manufacturer's retail partner. Tip Compare the item's retail cost to the factory-direct price. If the retailer marks down the price to a greater discount than its wholesale cost, there's no point in trying to chase down the manufacturer. Step 3: Visit a factory store Visit the manufacturer's factory outlet store. Many larger manufacturer's offer imperfect or discontinued items at its factory outlets. Bring the product information with you and be prepared to deal with imperfections. Step 4: Check out an e-commerce site Look up an e-commerce retailer. Although many e-commerce sites are set up much like retail store sites and offer products direct from thousands of manufacturers, they have no retail margin. Consumers can expect to save 20 to 30 percent of the retail cost. Step 5: Know return policies Know the manufacturer's return policies. Many factory outlets do not allow merchandise returns. Check the manufacturer's site, e-commerce store, and outlet for their return policy details. Step 6: Start buying Start buying everything you need directly from manufacturers. You may never pay retail again. Did You Know? According to an early 2010 U.S. census release, new orders for manufacturers' durable goods increased by 11.6 percent from 2009 to 2010.

How to Design and Manufacture a Product

02:00
It can be quite a challenge to find a manufacturer -- one you like working with and whose factory produces a quality product at a fair price. Here are some tips on how to navigate through the process of finding one, as well as how to optimize your relationship with your manufacturer so that you -- and your customers -- are happy. For more infor visit: http://www.focuspdm.com/ Step 1: Creating a Prototype Creating a working prototype or finding someone who can do it for you is the first step in the manufacturing process. During my early days, I was able to sew most of my prototypes. But as my product, Planecomfort, was refined and the components used and the skills necessary to create the product I envisioned moved beyond my sewing expertise, I knew I needed help. Searching online, I found a wonderful yet small cut-and-sew business in northern California called Left in Stitches. This relationship proved valuable to me in a number of ways. They not only helped refine my original prototype, but they offered many suggestions and ideas for making the product easier to manufacture. Many of these smaller domestic companies offer prototyping services that are invaluable to new entrepreneurs. Once you have a prototype, there is quality and design testing and tweaking. At each stage of development, and every time I received the newer version of my product, I washed, dried, pulled, stretched, zipped, unzipped, and put my product through the proverbial "ringer." Making sure your product will exceed your customers' expectations is a sure way to keep them coming back and referring your product to others. Ideally, you want to have a dozen or so finished prototypes. Manufacturers will want one or two samples sent to them as a reference to compare to the finished product their factory is making. I thought I would be able to use Left in Stitches for the long term, but due to logistical reasons and production costs, I had to find an overseas manufacturer. Moving your manufacturing operations overseas means you want large quantities (usually thousands) of the item you are producing. If you want hundreds of something, you may be better off working with a domestic manufacturer. Step 2: Finding a Manufacturer I located my overseas manufacturers through referrals, which provided me with an immediate level of comfort and confidence with these factories. One referral came from a fabric manufacturer. Most fabric manufacturers have relationships with product manufacturers. Another factory was referred to me by a marketing services company. This company manufactures both soft and hard goods and was happy to provide their contact with another business opportunity. Call domestic manufacturers and inquire about their overseas connections. Ask everyone you know if they know someone who manufactures the type of products you are creating. Search online for companies with products similar to yours and call them. Who do they use? How did they get started? My experience is that most people will want to help you. I found it was best to work with at least two different companies when trying to decide who will win your business. Who is easiest to work with? Who meets (or beats) your expectations? Is one more knowledgeable than the other? Having a comparison is essential to ensure you are getting a quality product at a fair price. There are two common ways you can deal with overseas manufacturing. You can find a broker or agent in the U.S. that represents the factory, or deal with a factory directly. Once you have determined who you might like to work with, you must check references on your contact and the factory. Some of the important questions to ask: Was the product made to specifications? What percentage of the shipment was defective? If there was a problem with the shipment, did the factory make restitution? Were deadlines met? If not, what did the factory offer to make amends? Is what was promised delivered? How is the quality of goods they produce? How long have you worked with this person and factory? How many orders have you placed? Is your contact easy to work with? Is he/she responsive to calls and emails? What type of projects does the factory excel in producing? Soft goods, hard goods? What types of companies do they normally work with? Who is responsible for landing the goods in the U.S.? Text by Ann Merlini, founder of Pac'n Nap, LLC. For more information on How to Design and Manufacture a Product visit: http://www.focuspdm.com/

How to find an authorized distributor for any product line (gerber, enfamil, etc.)

03:59
In this video I walk you through how we take product line/Brand and contact the manufacturer to find local distributors in our area (this process works with nearly any company) in order to get approved to be a reseller for brands that, may always have been or just recently have become, gated. I have received a lot of inquiries lately from people who either WANT to sell an item that is gated or that have previously sold the item and have recently received a notification from Amazon that the item is now restricted. For my team and I, personally, this has been the best, easiest, and most successful practice for finding distributors and addressing the restricted issue. I share my screen in the video and hope that I have broken the issue down and analyzed each step as simply and quickly for you in order to get ungated in your products. As I always stress, educating yourself and becoming a master in your trade is crucial for becoming a successful seller. Understanding these guidelines, why they are in affect, and how to address them should they pose a problem for your business, can not only save you time by avoiding an issue before it happens, but should it happen you will have the ability to streamline the process of correcting it. Give me a thumbs up if you enjoyed this video and If you have any further questions or concerns, if there was something I could answer for you a little more in depth or better, anything - please leave a question or comment below and I will try to address it as promptly and clearly as possible. How I Found A Supplier In China To Manufacture My First Amazon FBA Product + FREE TEMPLATE

16:21
Finding a supplier can be the most intimidating part of selling a product on Amazon. Here is how I found my supplier in China! ►Link to FREE supplier message template: https://goo.gl/AkZPE2 ►LIKE & SUBSCRIBE if you found the template useful! ►JOIN Lifestyle Design Entrepreneur FB Group: https://goo.gl/NUjnc2 ►GET JUNGLE SCOUT: https://goo.gl/inqbpj ►Follow me on IG/Snapchat: jsantiagojls Finding a supplier can sound very intimidating to a beginner. With this video, I will break down exactly how to use Alibaba to find your supplier FAST. Alibaba is a business to business platform that connects manufacturers with customers that are looking to have a product manufactured. The website has come a long way and they have implemented new filters to allow you to focus on the best suppliers possible. Simply search for your product in the search bar and both products and suppliers will pop up. We want to focus on the supplier tab as to not duplicate efforts when contacting suppliers of similar products. When you click on the individual product you are interested in from the supplier, you can see all the relevant information like color, material, cost to manufacture and MOQ, or minimum order quantity. Keep in mind most of these terms are negotiable and flexible. The manufacturers are able to change the product to fit your requirements, as in maybe a different color or material. Also, price and MOQ are ALWAYS negotiable. I recommend you find at least 15 suppliers that are promising. Then, take the template I have provided above and blast it out to all 15 suppliers via the Alibaba "Contact Supplier" button/form. Now, sit back and wait for responses. You want to gauge the suppliers responses based on how quickly they respond, how good their english is, and if they answered all your questions. if a supplier hits all three of these points, they are most likely going to be a good match. When you have it narrowed down to 2-3, ask for samples. When you receive these samples, pick the manufacturer that best delivered the sample to your specifications and requirements. I recommend you request the supplier to sent you a proposed contract offer through Alibaba. TIPS: 1) Contact suppliers using a separate email address as they will respond a lot in the future to try to get your business. Best to keep this spammy email separate from all other business emails. 2) Communicate with suppliers from the perspective of an employee, NOT the boss of your company. This way it reduces the suppliers leverage and increases yours as you can always defer to "the boss" for final approval. 3) NEVER pay via T/T (bank transfer) or Western Union. There is no guarantee that the supplier won't just take your money and disappear. Best to stick to Alibaba & PayPal.

Who Can Manufacture My Product Invention

Manufacturing is the last step in your product development pathway, but it can certainly be the trickiest. Navigating the waters of ever-changing contracts, hidden costs and manufacturing surprises is never something a company, whether large or small, looks forward to. Focus Product Design has partners on site in China who work with us to deliver finished products at the highest quality possible. We spend extensive time working closely with them every aspect, from engineering to tooling and design. This allows us to offer our customers high-quality manufacturing service at better rates than our competitors. http://www.focuspdm.com/cta/manufacture-it Focus's Manufacturing Services: Design for Manufacturing While in business for over a decade, Focus has helped many clients create working prototypes through sound engineering and design. In order to clearly communicate your concept to the manufacturer, we adhere to what is called Design for Manufacturability. This practice focuses not only on the design of a new product, but also it's feasibility of production. Raw PCB Fabrication and Assembly Manufacturing of electronics. Injection Molding Focus Product Designs offers plastic injection molding from most plastic resins. We have experience with single material, double-shot, insert molding, high-cosmetic and high tolerance parts. Parts are built directly from your 3D CAD models and inspected per 2D drawings, so you can be sure your parts will be made correctly. Sheet Metal We offer sheet metal parts made from most common metals. Production sheet metal parts start off by cutting a blank to the overall shape. Then blanks are punched, embossed, notched, lanced and formed to print. Parts are built directly from your 3D CAD models and inspected per 2D drawings, so you can be sure your parts will be made correctly. Machining Focus Product Design offers machined parts made from most metals and plastics. Production machined parts are roughed out to size and machined to desired tolerances and surface finishes, then cosmetically refined. Custom plastic parts are built directly from your 3D CAD models and inspected per 2D drawings so you can be sure your parts will be made correctly. Metal Casting Focus Product Design offers aluminum die casting from most standard die casting materials. Die casting is a replacement for injection molding, resulting in stronger parts with good thermal or electrical properties, or to consolidate two or more metal parts into one. Extruding Focus Product Design offers extrusions from most standard metal, plastic, rubber and foam materials. Extrusions can be produced and cut to length, with additional features and finishes added. Quality extrusion dies are mass-produced, which results in a lower costs. Tooling Did you know that we need to build the tools, molds and machines that build your product? On top of that, no two products are alike, which means that each unique product requires a new set of manufacturing tools for production. Regulatory Certification Regulatory Certification is a process in which product sample applications are submitted to certification bodies for approval. Certification bodies analyze products according to categories such as medical, consumer, wireless and industrial products. http://www.focuspdm.com/cta/manufacture-it

ENTER CHINA SHOW EPISODE 9 Find the complete show notes and transcript: https://www.enterchina.co/manufactureinchina WHAT'S IN THIS EPISODE? Let’s start by talking about money. You have all this money from launch and you’re ready to place your initial order with your factory. How do you make sure that you’re maximizing that precious money you just raised? (00:42) Start off with a 30% deposit to your factory. (00:50) Be aware of bank and transfer fees. (01:05) There are restrictions when transferring money into China. (02:49) You’ve gotten samples and you know exactly what product specifications you want. What kind of documentation and communication do you need to prepare to make sure the factory knows EXACTLY what to make? (03:00) Before starting your order provide factory with design files. (03:08) For a customized OEM product you get samples from the factory. (03:23) Provide them with AI file for packaging and logo. (03:29) Put contracts and sales agreement in place. (03:42) From an ODM perspective... (03:47) You want to have all the technical files. (CAD, tech pack, etc.) (03:54) You have to have a perfect sample made prior to mass production. (04:23) How long does this first order typically take? (04:52) First order can take anywhere from 2-6 months; depending on the product. (05:04) What are the phases of the production process? (06:20) First you start with the mold. (06:32) Sometimes you pay for a sample run. (07:05) Go into mass production. (07:27) Spot check. (08:18) Halfway into production you should finalize the details of packaging. (08:43) How to manage the factory along the production process? (09:30) Make sure you are communicating with your factory on a regular basis. (09:46) Get regular updates. (09:54) Use the right communication methods. (09:58) Do regular spot checks. (10:45) Any tips for how to conduct yourself when dealing with the factory during this first order? (11:55) Just be understanding. (12:00) They won't always bend over backwards for you because it's the first order and they're not sure you will stick around. (12:05) Be professional and have all the right documentation in place. (12:18) Don't delay when the factory ask for something. They will blame you later if you are not quick. (12:21) Don't blame the factory; just figure out how to fix the issue. (13:13) When do you know that your first order is COMPLETELY finished? (13:28) Explanation of ex-works agreement. (14:07) Example of FOB agreement. How to Design and Manufacture a Product

02:02
Searching online, I found a wonderful design frim in northern California.

How to Find a Factory in China

Reserve your spot at our FREE webinar: "The Hands Down Best Way to Find and Manage A Chinese Factory" Save your seat here: http://bit.ly/ecwebinaryt GET RICO'S FREE CHINA FACTORY SALES AGREEMENT: https://www.enterchina.co/template-sales-agreement/ Enter China Show Episode 3 Find the complete show notes at: https://www.enterchina.co/findfactoryinchina What's in this episode? What's the basic first step to finding a factory in China? (00:42) First option is go online to Alibaba or Global Sources. (01:21) Most common method and best method is word of mouth. (01:45) Having Chinese people introduce you to factories brings Mianzi (or face) into the equation and then that person has stake in making sure you get what you need. (01:39) Last option is to get a sourcing company - this is best if you don't have any experience with sourcing products from China but have some money to invest in your product development. (01:59) How do you know that you have found a good fit in a Chinese factory? (03:03) First you have to know your product really well. Research how it is made and understand the process. (03:15) When you know the details you'll be able to communicate your needs more clearly and understand potential problems and risks. (03:51) How to identify and weed out bad Chinese suppliers? (04:01) If you send out a detailed email and you only receive a minimal response or an untimely response then that's not a good sign. (04:12) If you're doing everything online put the necessary systems in place to protect yourself. (05:01) Alibaba trade insurance can protect you from potentially bad Chinese factories. (05:13) If you're already on the ground in China then it's best to have a local communicate on your behalf. (05:41) Lastly, being in China allows you to physically visit the factories and weed out bad suppliers. (06:24) How to communicate effectively MOQ (minimum order quantity) and price goals (per unit cost) to your Chinese factory? (06:58) Communicate MOQ upfront. (07:29) Communicate desired price (per unit cost) much further down the line. (07:39) MOQ dictates the price. (07:54) If the MOQ is too high at the per unit cost you would like then you know that you might want to move on or increase your budget. (08:15) Working with a sourcing agent makes the process a lot easier and faster. (08:31) What are some essentials of a factory visit? (09:10) It depends on what step you are in the process. (09:16) By the time Rico visits a factory he's already put them through a thorough vetting process and is looking to finalize the details of the contract. (09:21) Aim to verify certain details of the contract and previous communication. (09:35) Inspect the factory to see the level of organization and professionalism. (10:48) Look to see if the factory has strong processes in place. (11:54) What is the process for making a contract? (12:21) For samples Rico likes to include the sample terms in the overall sales agreement. (12:38) Luke prefers to create a separate contract for the sample order. (13:34) When signing the sales agreement with the factory there is always something that needs to be changed. (15:36) Be very clear about the sales terms/pricing terms. (16:05) Be clear about shipping terms. (16:15) Payment terms 30% up front (50% max); 70% upon successful quality check. (16:21) Quality inspection terms should also be in the contract. Manufacturing | How to Start Your Fashion Company®

03:12
Learn how to manufacture your line without losing money! Share this video: http://youtu.be/qx0aR_cy1g0 Subscribe to our channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=mshopnyc ________________________________ Manufacturing is a topic that--I think it causes stress. That's a really tough segment of the business to deal with. If you're a starting designer, it's difficult to build those relationships. The ones that you need to have with the suppliers and with the factories so that they can produce your product to your standards. And I'm here to help. I have a couple of tips. My number one tip is don't pay for your production up front. If you put your product in a factory, you want to pay them upon delivery. Once they make you beautiful product and it passes all your tests and it's to your quality standards, that's when you pay for your product. I once had this client--she came to me after she place her production in a factory, she paid them upfront and then they pretty much stopped communicating with her. They would not answer her phone calls, they would not give her anything that she needed; she actually had to show up at the factory and pretty much they ruined her production. And all of this is because she paid upfront. They no longer cared about the fact that they had to produce her product to standard. So one of my major tips to you designers out there is to not only find a reputable, really good quality factory but to pay them when the work is completed. Now, I know it's difficult because you're new, you're newly working with them--they don't trust you as much as maybe you don't trust them. Some of them may ask for a deposit. You being a newbie, I'd say don't pay a deposit, but if you must--if you're in that factory and they're working on product for a line that you hold in high regard then maybe pay only up to a ten percent deposit. The factory still has to work for it. You can't pay them enough so then they don't care anymore about your order. I say don't pay a deposit--but if you must, if this is imperative, if there is no other way for them to produce you're product and they are a spectacular, high quality, top of the line factory, then I may give them a deposit, but I would only give them--like I said--ten percent, so that they still have to earn the ninety percent and they still have to give you the quality that your company requires. So my tip to you, designers, is don't pay factories up front. Deposit only in dire straits, only if, again, the factory is top, primo, A-1, wonderful quality then ten percent would be the max that you should ever give as a deposit to a factory, so that you can get your product made to standards at the end. ________________________________ With 25 years of expert experience in the industry, fashion authority Michelle Alleyne is dedicated to bringing her immeasurable industry knowledge and personal expertise to aspiring designers everywhere. How To Make A T-Shirt From Design To Manufacturing Process

11:12
In this video I show you how to make a t-shirt from the design to manufacturing process. It starts with designing a shirt, pattern making, sewing, cutting and then goes into large production manufacturing. More from Bella Canvas: http://bit.ly/2t9Guo6 When starting a clothing line it's important to know the process, and this video is a great way to learn what it takes to create a t-shirt from scratch. Sign up to the newsletter and receive free downloads to help grow your business + enter to win upcoming giveaways: http://bit.ly/Apparel-Download The following steps can be applied to make any product, so feel free to jot down notes and reference this section for future use. Step 1: T-Shirt Design The first step to making a t-shirt involves the design sketch. Create a sketch that depicts the angles and details you'd like the final shirt to have. It doesn't have to be super fancy, as long as you can show what you need. Designing a shirt with the end goal in mind helps the pattern maker know what you are going for. Thanks you Torey Lewitz for joining us. Step 2: Pattern Making Once the designs are completed, you will consult with a pattern maker to bring your clothing line to life. The pattern maker will take your designs and create “patterns” which are the pieces that will be cut and sewn together. Step 3: Sample Cutting Once the patterns are completed, they are printing on a plotter that creates the outline for the sample cutter. The person in charge of cutting the sample will follow the guides to ensure the pieces are cut to the right specifications. Castle Notches allow the person in charge of sewing to close the product up right. Step 4: Sewing The T-Shirt After the fabric is cut out, it is ready to be sewn. The cut pieces are now the shape of the patterns and multiple sewing machines are used to finish the design. The final outcome is hopefully what you envisioned. But more than likely it won’t be the final fit, so you will repeat the process until you are happy with the size, fit and shape of your apparel line. Step 5: Mass Production Cutting As soon as the shirt or apparel design you created is approved, the patterns are finalized and sent into the production process. John Chacon Head Of Production walks us through his process. Step 6: Mass Production Sewing Once the pieces are all cut out, they are sent to the sewing factory. The factory is given the cut fabric and the head of production is in charge of making sure everyone knows what their role is. Step 7: Order Fulfillment/ Clothing Line Distribution The last step in this video is the order fulfillment and distribution of the finished clothing. As a clothing business you also have to think about how you will provide quicker shipping, handle returns and manage employees. Randy Pinter Head of Warehouse Distribution drops the knowledge on what it takes to run this facility. Does it mean Clairol is not "worth it?" Most products have the same ingredients, but different sales pitches make different prices. To buy brand or not to buy brand. Shampoo ingredients; water, SLS (sodium Laureth Lulfate) or Ammonium Laureth Sulfate; those are the ingredients, the rest are buffers for marketing. Thick or thin shampoo; the salt is the matter.
