He is also credited with designing the men’s smoking jacket. 9. Pierre Cardin: The Italian-born Frenchman is lauded for his 20th century pieces that looked as though they were from the 25th century. As Cardin rose to fame in the age of the space race, his creations took on an air of futurism. His so-called bubble dresses had all the fixings of science fiction, combining earthly elegance with out-of-this-world colors and avant garde design. 8. Tom Ford: Tom Ford, counted among the most famous designers today, whose portfolio includes serving as a creative director for both Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci, wanted to be actor when he was growing up. He was born in Texas and even took training to be an actor. But fate had other “designs” for him. Tom ford popularity as a designer reached peaks when in the year 2000, he was declared the winner of the Best International Designer Award. 7. Christian Dior: Born in January of 1905, this French designer was best known for his distinctive “New Look” silhouette. Today, talented designer John Galliano carries on the legendary designer’s legacy in Paris, where he creates dramatic couture ball gowns, chic prêt-a-porter, and luxurious accessories for Dior. 6. Ralph Lauren: Ralph Lauren is worth $7.5 billion, and he got it all because of his fashion sense. In 1970, the first Polo logo was seen in Lauren’s line of women’s suits that was designed in the classic men’s style. Two years later, the famous short sleeve shirt with the Polo emblem appeared, and it soon became a classic. Lauren has been collecting rare and classic cars. The collection is so unique that it has been featured in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. 5. Donatella Versace: She is the sister of Gianni Versace. He formed his company, Armani, in 1975, and by 2001 was acclaimed as the most successful designer to come out of Italy, with an annual turnover of $1.6 billion and a personal fortune of $7 billion as of 2012. Armani is also the first ever designer to ban models who has a Body Mass Index under 18. 2. Donna Karan: Donna Karan came from a background that was related to fashion in certain ways. This fashion designer worked as a head of a design team for a few number of years and launched some designs that included the very well-known ‘Seven Easy Pieces’. History of Children's Wear | Fashion Designers

Watch more Fashion Designers and Fashion Brands videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500132-History-of-Childrens-Wear-Fashion-Designers Famous designers have been doing children's clothing since the beginning of the 20th century. One of the best known Parisian couturiers, Madame Lovain, produced beautiful clothing for young girls, her own daughter included, and her work in haute couture for women followed. The usual pattern is that children's clothes are an offshoot of the designer's main business. Baby Dior is one example. It was introduced in 1967 as its own boutique in Paris, and the brand has had remarkable staying power. People who receive Baby Dior as gifts for their little one consider themselves very lucky. Children's fashion is a growing market for designer brands.

Coco Chanel | Fashion Designers

04:23
Watch more Fashion Designers and Fashion Brands videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500163-Coco-Chanel-Fashion-Designers The founder of the House of Chanel really presents a lot of contradictions. She set a fashion for very simple dressing but she lived surrounded by antiques. The founder of the House of Chanel really presents a lot of contradictions. Coco Chanel came from very humble beginnings but she became one of the most famous women of the 20th century. Even her career had two distinct periods. The first part lasted from around 1909 to 1939, when she closed her couture house because of World War II. The second half of the Chanel career was from 1953 to 1970 when she came out of kind of a self-imposed retirement. Coco Chanel was born in France in 1883 and she was raised in an orphanage, even though she wasn't really an orphan. Her mother had died and her father just couldn't take care of her and her two sisters, so he dropped them off at an orphanage to be raised. As a young adult she was a seamstress in a local shop and also tried to start a career singing in cafes. It's probably there that she acquired her nickname Coco, her real name was Gabrielle, because a couple of the songs she sang had "Coco" in the title. So here singing name, as it were, was Coco Chanel. She was rescued from this kind of unsuccessful singing career by a rich man that she met at the cafe named Etienne Balsan. Balsan was the heir to an industrial fortune, which gave him the time to ride and train and raise racehorses. He was really influential on Chanel, not only in her style of life, but also in her style of dressing, because Etienne and his wealthy riding friends all walked around in English-style riding clothes, and that's the look that she started to acquire. Coco became an excellent horsewoman and was known throughout her life as a very sporty individual. She not only started to wear English-inflected and menswear styled clothes, she actually could do the sports and the outdoor activities that they represented. Chanel actually started her fashion career as a milliner with a small hat shop she opened in Balsan's apartment in Paris. Chanel's hats were very simple, distinguishing her and her designs from a lot of the other fashionable hats at the time. Her shapes were simple, whereas other designers put a lot of ruffles and feathers and flowers on the hats, Chanel put like one or two ornaments, really keeping it simple in line with her design philosophy. Her first actual clothing shop was opened in Deauville, a resort area, in 1913. Because it was a resort area, people were into less formal, sporty clothes, and so her easy-to-wear skirts and pullovers, her knit tops, found a really receptive audience. She became a proper couturier in 1915, when she opened a real couture house, a made-to-order house in another resort area in Varetz. When she moved her couture operations to Paris, her career really took off, and she found clients among the avant-garde, artistic, more modern, forward-thinking women in the social world. During the 1920s and the 1930s, Chanel's style really crystallized. She became known for using a lot jersey in daywear, really easy-to-wear knits. Simple shapes, a lot of black. While some people say that Chanel invented the black dress, that's of course not true, but she definitely helped popularize the style. She did not operate her business from 1939 to 1953. And in fact, her activities during that period remain a bit controversial. When she ended her self-imposed retirement in the '50s and showed her first collection, people were astonished that it was so similar to the work that she had been doing before. They were really looking for something a little bit more revolutionary from this revolutionary designer. But within a year or two, people had realized that this is the Chanel look, and it in fact became very influential on fashion in general.

15 MOST Luxurious Fashion Brands

11:15
From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

My adventure in Paris shops. Interesting and simple clothes by French designers.

06:34
There are a lot of amazing shops in Paris. I liked one so much that I’ve decided to show it to you. I’m going to show you different clothes, then I’ll buy a couple of them, and you can write if you agree with my choice in comments. What is also very important is that the clothes in this shop are of pretty simple design, so we can make such ones ourselves. Most of them are made just of 2 simple square piece of fabric stitched together and decorated. I know what I’m going to buy, but I want you to have a look at different clothes presented in this shop. I love Paris, I love fashion, and I love you my dear subscribers! What do you think of the items I showed you today? Be different and beautiful. My name is Paukshte Irina. Guys, please, subscribe to my channel, write comments, share videos and press the “like” and “bell” buttons! I really need your support! Thank you!

Designer Louis Vuitton | Fashion Designers

Watch more Fashion Designers and Fashion Brands videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/500156-Designer-Louis-Vuitton-Fashion-Designers The founder of Louis Vuitton was born in a mountainous region of France in 1821. And when he was 13 he decided he really wanted to do something else, so he went on foot to Paris to seek his fortune in the city. And it took him two years to get there traveling on foot. When he got there he found work as an apprentice to a packer. A packer was someone who helped people get ready for traveling. And he learned how to build specialty boxes. And while he was an apprentice or an assistance, he was hired by the Empress of France, a woman named Empress Eugenie who was the wife of Napoleon the Third. Empress Eugenie was a great style setter. She had an immense wardrobe and life at the court in those days required that you had to change your clothes several times a day. So Louis Vuitton developed a specialty in packing fashion. Eugenie was a fashion setter and she was a major client of the important designer Charles Frederick Worth. Louis Vuitton working for Eugenie had exposure not just to fashion and to court life, but developed an appreciative following. When he decided to go out on his own, he had a clientele and he had a lot of expertise. And so he put the two together to build a very high end packing and luggage business. His first trunks used canvas instead of leather which made them lighter and made the surface more durable. His first trunks were very innovative. He used canvas instead of leather which made the trunks lighter and gave them a more durable surface. He also introduced waterproof trunks and made them flat tops so that they could be stacked. Vuitton prospered and he brought his sons into the business an they continued to operate it after his death in 1892. Louis Vuitton revolutionized luggage making, bringing modern technology into a traditional craft.
