Subscribe for more Hollywood biographies and stories! http://geni.us/HollywoodCollection Her story is well-known – the lonely child who yearned for affection and approval which she finally seemed to find as Hollywood’s greatest love goddess. But even though she scaled heights few could even dream of, she was one of the loneliest of stars. And yet, in spite of the breakdowns, the failed marriages, the sordid rumors surrounding her life — and her death, Marilyn Monroe was never just a “victim.” She was unique, a phenomenon that is as vital today as it ever was. She was all that is blazingly magical in a star. Here is the “real” Marilyn, drawn from some of her greatest moments on film – Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, How To Marry A Millionaire,The Seven Year Itch, Some Like It Hot, Bus Stop, The Misfits – and more. Here too are the earliest films, the home movies, archival footage, and the memories of those who knew her best, like Robert Mitchum, Shelley Winters, Sheree North, Susan Strasberg, Don Murray, Celeste Holm and Josh Logan.

Unseen belongings of legend Marilyn Monroe unveiled ++REPLAY++

05:03
(11 May 2012) LEADIN Never-before-seen belongings of the Hollywood legend, Marilyn Monroe, are on display in Los Angeles. The show marks the 50th anniversary of the movie star's death at the age of 36. STORYLINE: One of the world's most iconic actresses, Marilyn Monroe, is the star of a million dollar exhibition of some of her most personal belongings. It's taking place here in Hollywood, 50 years after her premature death. Over 50,000 fans from all over the world are expected to arrive to commemorate the anniversary. This exhibit is housed inside an old bank vault, and the contents inside are valuable - maybe priceless because of their association with Monroe. The Marilyn Bank Vault Collection at Ripley's Believe It Or Not is Hollywood's ultimate homage to Marilyn, remembering an era and commemorating the queen of the town. Among the many Marilyn items are a hand knitted cardigan, currently valued at USD $170,000. She wore this on her last photo shoot. These are all personal items belonging to the owner of the Ripley's company. Andrea Silverman, general manager of Ripley's Believe It Or Not says: "We have her famous sweater which was actually the last photograph that she did before her death. You're gong to see her makeup case. It took her over three hours to do her makeup. You guys have to come see all the cool stuff that we have. We have her shoes. We have her nightgown when she was married to Joe DiMaggio for her honeymoon" Personal items include a dresser top of Marilyn's cosmetics and makeup case. She was rumoured to take three hours to put on her makeup on every morning. An old Revlon nail polish bottle sits next to an Erno Laszlo face cream, lavender smelling salts, and an Elizabeth Arden eyeshadow. This black lingerie was worn by Marilyn for baseball legend Joe DiMaggio on their wedding night. Slippers with glass and white faux fur straps were valued 10 years ago at over USD $100,000. Also on display is a USD $12,000 lace nightcap as well as a bathing suit that was quite scandalous at the time for being a midriff baring two piece, in US size 16. A polka dot dress on show is known as the willpower dress because it took sheer willpower in the 50s to wear a strapless dress. Head scarves on display were worn to shield herself from the paparazzi. Jeanne Wolf, a veteran Hollywood journalist says: "We loved and adored her and still do. There's something about her very strong. You know she came form utter poverty. She should have had absolutely no exceptions in life and rose to be well arguably the most famous movie star in the world. There was something about her, that no one looked like her. No one reminded you of her. She invented herself. She created herself and in the midst of all of that, there was something so utterly exposed and fragile about her." Her dresses on display showcase her well documented size fluctuations. Going from 37-23-34 and a US size two when she began her career to 38-23-36 in 1962 - a US size 12. A larger than life poster shows her famous dress blowing scene from the movie "The Seven Year Itch." There are 40 pairs of shoes on display, including a pair of red Salvatore Ferragamo shoes which he made just for her. There is a copy of Marilyn's footprints in cement that were given personally to Sid Grauman, the owner of the famed Grauman's Chinese Theatre. They were made in 1953 on the night of the premiere of the classic film 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes'. A lock of her hair as a child sits in a drawer for tourists to get a glimpse of. It is reported she experimented with 10 different blonde shades before deciding on her legendary platinum colour. Wolf says people will like the feeling of being inside the vault to see her things. A documentary on some of the most haunted houses in Hollywood California. Sightings of Marilyn Monroe's ghost as well as Bugsy Siegel's ghost has been seen. Also the ghost of Lucille Ball, George Reeves, Paul Bern and the ghost of Sharon Tate. These haunted houses are in Los Angeles, CA. These are the spooky ghost stories based on what people have witnessed. These haunted houses are some of the most haunted places in America. This documentary features many rare footages and photos. Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model, and singer. Famous for playing comic "blonde bombshell" characters, she became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s and was emblematic of the era's attitudes towards sexuality. Marilyn Monroe was found dead on August 5, 1962, at her 12305 Fifth Helena Drive home in Los Angeles of a barbiturate overdose. She was a major sex symbol and one of the most popular Hollywood stars during the 1950s and early 1960s. She was a top-billed actress for a decade, and her films grossed $200 million by 1962. At the time of her death, Monroe had suffered from mental illness and substance abuse for several years, and had not completed a film since The Misfits, released in 1961. She had spent 1961 preoccupied with her various health problems, and in April 1962 had begun filming Something's Got to Give for 20th Century Fox, but was fired in early June. The studio publicly blamed her for the production's problems, and in the weeks preceding her death, Monroe attempted to repair her public image by giving several interviews to high-profile publications. She also began negotiations with Fox on being re-hired for Something's Got to Give and for starring roles in other productions. Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel was a Jewish American mobster. Siegel was known as one of the most "infamous and feared gangsters of his day". Described as handsome and charismatic, he became one of the first front-page celebrity gangsters. Lucille Désirée Ball Morton was an American actress, comedian, model, film-studio executive, and producer. She was best known as the star of the self-produced sitcoms I Love Lucy, The Lucy–Desi Comedy Hour, The Lucy Show, and Here's Lucy. George Reeves was an American actor. He is best known for his role as Superman in the 1950s television program Adventures of Superman. Paul Bern was a German-born American film director, screenwriter, and producer for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where he became the assistant to Irving Thalberg. Sharon Marie Tate Polanski was an American actress and model. During the 1960s, she played small television roles before appearing in films and was regularly featured in fashion magazines as a model and cover girl. Charles Milles Manson was an American criminal and cult leader. In the late 1960s, he formed what became known as the Manson Family, a quasi-commune in California. The Tate murders were a series of killings conducted by members of the Manson Family on August 8–9, 1969, which claimed the lives of five people, one of them pregnant. Four members of the Family invaded the home of married celebrity couple, actress Sharon Tate and director Roman Polanski at 10050 Cielo Drive in Los Angeles. They murdered Tate (who was eight and a half months pregnant), along with three friends who were visiting at the time, and an 18-year-old visitor, who was slain as he was departing the home. Polanski was not present on the night of the murders as he was working on a film in Europe. The murders were carried out by Tex Watson under the direction of Charles Manson. Watson drove, with Susan Atkins, Linda Kasabian, and Patricia Krenwinkel, from Spahn Ranch to the residence on Cielo Drive. Manson, an aspiring musician, had previously attempted to enter into a recording contract with record producer Terry Melcher, who was a previous renter of the house along with musician Mark Lindsay and Melcher's then-girlfriend, actress Candice Bergen. Melcher had snubbed Manson, leaving him disgruntled. spooky stories murder mysteries hollywood murder mysteries bedtime stories bedtime story spooky bedtime stories scary bedtime stories ghost of Marilyn Monroe Ghost of Sharon Tate Ghost of Lucille Ball Old Hollywood stories Hollywood murders celebrity homes unsolved mysteries unsolved murder mysteries celebrity murders celebrity murder mysteries Marilyn Monroe Home Sharon Tate Home Lucille Ball Home Beverly Hills murder mysteries Marilyn Monroe biography Marilyn Monroe tribute Sharon Tate tribute Bugsy Siegel biography Las Veges stories Bugsy Siegel Murder Mystery who killed Marilyn Monroe Charles Manson story Manson Murders Hollywood documentary Scary stories of Hollywood Horror documentary ghost adventures ghost hunters in hollywood

Marilyn Monroe | Transformation From 1 To 36 Years Old

11:12
Famous As: American Actress Nationality: American Birth Date: June 1, 1926 Died At Age: 36 Born In: Los Angeles Father: Martin Edward Mortensen Mother: Gladys Pearl Baker Siblings: Berniece Baker Miracle, Robert Kermitt Baker Spouse/Ex-Spouse: Arthur Miller (M. 1956–1961), James Dougherty (M. 1942–1946), Joe DiMaggio (M. 1954–1954) Religion: Jewish Died On: August 5, 1962 Place Of Death: Brentwood City, States, Provinces & Districts: California Cause Of Death: Suicide Net Worth: $27 Million ------------------------------- One of the earliest and most enduring sex symbols of Hollywood, Marilyn Monroe was a talented actress who began a career as a model before foraying into films. The product of a broken home, she did not even know the identity of her biological father. Named as Norma Jeane Mortenson at birth, she spent most of her childhood in foster homes as her mother was mentally unstable and incapable of raising her daughter on her own. The little girl endured a harsh childhood marked by abuse and apathy due to which she suffered from several mental problems later in her life. As a young woman she stared modeling for The Blue Book Modeling Agency and soon became a very successful model thanks to her striking beauty and grace. Eventually she moved on to films, initially appearing in minor roles before bagging more substantial ones. She soon developed an image as a sex symbol by appearing in the nude for the ‘Playboy’ magazine. As an actress she acted in several successful films like ‘The Asphalt Jungle’, ‘The Seven Year Itch’, and ‘The Prince and the Showgirl’. However the final years of her brief life were marked by mental illnesses and alcoholism. Her life was snuffed out untimely when she was just 36 by an overdose of sleeping pills. --------------------------------------- Childhood & Early Life She was born as Norma Jeane Mortenson to Gladys Pearl Baker. She did not know the identity of her biological father, and amused herself by imagining that the Hollywood actor Clarke Gable was her father. Her mother was mentally unstable and thus the young Norma was placed in foster care. She was placed in the care of her mother’s friend Grace who told her that she would one day become a movie star and took her to see films. Norma was later sent to an orphanage and a series of foster homes. In some of the foster homes she was sexually abused and ill-treated. She married James Dougherty when she was just 15 or 16 years of age. She lived with his mother when her husband enlisted in the Merchant Marine during the World War II. -------------------------- Career She started working with The Blue Book Modeling Agency while her husband was away at war. She dyed her dark hair blonde and appeared on several magazine covers. She became a very successful model and got noticed by Ben Lyon, a 20th Century Fox executive who offered her a six-month contract. She adopted the name Marilyn Monroe at the suggestion of Lyon. Her first credited role was as a waitress in the 1947 movie, ‘Dangerous Years’. She continued appearing in minor roles over the next few years with no major success. She played a small but important role in the 1950 movie, ‘The Asphalt Jungle’ which was based on the novel of the same name. The film revolves around the story of a group of men who plan a jewelry robbery. She continued playing minor roles over the next two years. In 1952, two of her nude photographs appeared on calendars. She defended her decision to pose nude by stating that she was a struggling actress and needed money to pay the rent. This created an outpouring of sympathy for her and made her popular. She was flooded with film offers in 1952 and appeared in several movies within the year: ‘Monkey Business’, ‘Clash by Night’, ‘We’re Not Married!’, and ‘Don’t Bother to Knock’. The last one was her first starring role. She was given the first billing in the film ‘Niagara’ in 1953. The thriller-film noir was one of the biggest box office hits of the year. She achieved star status with this film. Even though she had naturally dark hair, she used to dye it blonde and created for herself the image of a blonde bombshell. She portrayed a dumb blonde in the movie ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’ in 1953 which went on to become a major hit. She played ‘the girl’ in the 1955 movie ‘The Seven Year Itch’ which was based on a three-act play of the same name. It had the iconic image of Marilyn standing on a subway grate as her white dress is blown by a passing train. The film was a big box office hit. In 1956, her movie ‘Bus Stop’ was released. The film was a dramatic piece unlike her other films most of which were comedies or musicals. She sang one song, ‘The Old Black Magic’ in the movie. In 1959, she played Sugar "Kane" Kowalczyk, a ukulele player and singer in ‘Some Like it Hot’ which was both a critical as well as commercial success. The film is considered to be one of the best films ever made in Hollywood.

MARILYN MONROE ● BIOGRAPHY ● House ● Cars ● Family ● Net worth ●

07:11
Marilyn Monroe (born Norma Jeane Mortenson; June 1, 1926 – August 5, 1962) was an American actress, model, and singer. Famous for playing comic "blonde bombshell" characters, she became one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s and was emblematic of the era's attitudes towards sexuality. Although she was a top-billed actress for only a decade, her films grossed $200 million by the time of her unexpected death in 1962.[1] More than half a century later, she continues to be a major popular culture icon.[2] Born and raised in Los Angeles, Monroe spent most of her childhood in foster homes and an orphanage and married at the age of sixteen. While working in a radioplane factory in 1944 as part of the war effort, she was introduced to a photographer from the First Motion Picture Unit and began a successful pin-up modeling career. The work led to short-lived film contracts with Twentieth Century-Fox (1946–1947) and Columbia Pictures (1948). After a series of minor film roles, she signed a new contract with Fox in 1951. Over the next two years, she became a popular actress and had roles in several comedies, including As Young as You Feel and Monkey Business, and in the dramas Clash by Night and Don't Bother to Knock. Monroe faced a scandal when it was revealed that she had posed for nude photos before becoming a star, but rather than damaging her career, the story resulted in increased interest in her films. By 1953, Monroe was one of the most marketable Hollywood stars; she had leading roles in the noir film Niagara, which focused on her sex appeal, and the comedies Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and How to Marry a Millionaire, which established her star image as a "dumb blonde". Although she played a significant role in the creation and management of her public image throughout her career, she was disappointed at being typecast and underpaid by the studio. She was briefly suspended in early 1954 for refusing a film project, but returned to star in one of the biggest box office successes of her career, The Seven Year Itch (1955). When the studio was still reluctant to change her contract, Monroe founded a film production company in late 1954; she named it Marilyn Monroe Productions (MMP). She dedicated 1955 to building her company and began studying method acting at the Actors Studio. In late 1955, Fox awarded her a new contract, which gave her more control and a larger salary. Her subsequent roles included a critically acclaimed performance in Bus Stop (1956) and the first independent production of MMP, The Prince and the Showgirl (1957). Monroe won a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her work in Some Like It Hot (1959), which was a critical and commercial success. Her last completed film was the drama The Misfits (1961). Monroe's troubled private life received much attention. She struggled with substance abuse, depression, and anxiety. She had two highly publicized marriages, to retired baseball star Joe DiMaggio and playwright Arthur Miller, both of which ended in divorce. On August 5, 1962, she died at age 36 from an overdose of barbiturates at her home in Los Angeles. Although Monroe's death was ruled a probable suicide, several conspiracy theories have been proposed in the decades following her death.
