For some, it is a primarily social setting which enables you to feel good about yourself, even though the muscles you are mainly working are those in your mouth as you gab with friends or your fingers as you mindlessly text. For others, there’s a more dedicated, health-oriented goal in mind, with the gym serving as a place of focus and drive. Then there are those who are on another level entirely, seemingly determined to develop a comical, outrageous amount of muscle tissue, if they haven’t done so already. More often than not, these people are far from naturally enhanced. Typically, these people are a product of Synthol abuse, a site enhancing oil designed to “fluff” muscles, or mimic their appearance where it may otherwise be disproportionate or lagging. It isn’t that these folks don’t hit the gym to further beef up their jarring physique, but the images that you will see here aren’t simply the product of a few bicep curls and a protein shake. When applied modestly, the completely legal Synthol product has been known to serve as a point of controversy within the world of professional bodybuilding. When used excessively, it can result in the type of grotesque, freakish physicality represented here. It’s remarkable to consider the supposed evolution of the bodybuilder in recent decades. Where bodybuilding champions were once buff muscle-men with impressively sculpted but accessible figures, modern competitors are jacked, genetically engineered freaks of nature with muscles upon muscles and bulging veins. Compare, for example, the physique of 70’s era three-time Mr. Olympia champion Frank Zane’s 185-pount chiseled frame to the monstrous arms and gargantuan calves of recent four-time Mr. Olympia Phil Heath. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger, the most recognizable bodybuilder of all-time for whom the elite Arnold Classic was named, didn’t boast the kind of body to compete with the mastodons of today. The physiques of modern bodybuilders were, quite literally, unattainable during the early days of the sport. Unfortunately, it’s tough to see this as positive progress for the sport. While there is something undeniably mesmerizing about the spectacle of seeing people with muscles in places that you didn’t even know existed, the chemical dependency of many bodybuilders is clearly having averse side effects. This list will not only reveal physical builds that seem humanly impossible, but also the emerging dangerous dark side of the business, which includes severe health consequences such as strange physical changes and even premature deaths. Where bodybuilding was once about tone, balance and symmetry, many have adopted the sport as a challenge to simply develop – however necessary – the biggest, gnarliest features possible. The use of steroids like Synthol is a major point of controversy in the world of bodybuilding, but more importantly poses a health risk for any individual looking for a quick way to build up hulking muscle mass. The app helped me a lot as I didn't have a lot of experience learned the barbell movements with it through guided videos, my weights were increased automatically by its coach function and I was guided through every single workout. I couldn't have achieved what I did without it. ***UPDATE ON STARTING LIFTING NUMBERS*** I haven't actually done real 1RM tests in the beginning. These are just estimations based on the weights I trained with. I found a 1RM calculator online that said that it's pretty accurate up to 10 reps so I used its estimations. If I had known the technique better and if I had been able to push myself harder, I probably could have handled more weight but I was afraid to do the movements wrong and I found it kind of scary to use weights I am not sure I can handle - especially when it comes to bench press and squats. ***UPDATE ON NUTRITION*** I followed a very strict diet and without that, it would just not have been possible to change as drastically as I did. In general: I’m a pescetarian, that means, I don’t eat meat except for fish. I started with the Freeletics Nutrition Guide and applied the knowledge in a way that worked best for me. I will try to break it down to a few simple steps: 1) The key is finding what works best for you and then sticking to it: The first couple of weeks I only focussed on gaining weight as that has been my biggest struggle so far. High protein and high carb diet. Lot’s of fish and seafood. My calorie intake was up to about 4000kcal/day. After a while I realized that was too much as I was gaining fat as well and went down to a high protein moderate carb diet with a little more than 3000kcal which worked way better for me. My body developed the way I wanted it to and my performance went through the roof.. 2) No alcohol, no added sugar, no processed food at all. Real foods - that’s what is the basis for everyone. Don’t eat stuff you can’t pronounce. Just don’t do it. 3) It helps to track your calories and weigh your food. You need to know what you are eating as well as how much of it. It’s the same as for training: Doing the right exercises is the first step, programming it is the second. That's why the Freeletics Gym Coach worked for me. 4) Schedule your meals according to your day. Your body needs to be fueled with the right nutrients throughout the day and has special needs at certain times, i.e. I always ate a banana and drank a protein shake directly (15mins max) after training as the body needs carbs and proteins to regenerate and refuel. I also precooked my food for the whole day every morning. 5) Supplements: I took 5g of creatine and a protein shake right after each training. Many sources also cite mental, social and emotional health as an important part of overall fitness. This is often presented in textbooks as a triangle made up of three points, which represent physical, emotional, and mental fitness. Physical fitness can also prevent or treat many chronic health conditions brought on by unhealthy lifestyle or aging. Working out can also help some people sleep better and possibly alleviate some mood disorders in certain individuals. Developing research has demonstrated that many of the benefits of exercise are mediated through the role of skeletal muscle as an endocrine organ. In fact, I’m putting the science back in strength in this one to show you not only how important it is to train every major muscle in your back but to not neglect some of the most commonly ignored muscles. With back exercise examples for how to attack each area, you’ll feel more prepared than ever to hit your next back workout with a new appreciation for back training. To start, it is important to break down the back into different zones. The most commonly focused on area is the lats. The lats are a large muscle group that get trained in every popular back workout. They can be hit with exercises like pullups, lat pulldowns, etc. Any exercise that adducts your arm and brings it into your sides is a good candidate for helping you build bigger lats. That said, you may feel a bigger stretch on the lats by performing an underhand version of the pulldown. As you can see, the anatomy of the lats explains how a larger stretch can be felt on them if you allow your elbow to travel in front of and away from your body. When doing a traditional lat pulldown the elbow stays in line with the torso which prevents the degree of stretch you feel in the alternative grip. The teres major is a muscle that assists the function of the lats. This muscle is also important for filling out the thickness of the back by sitting just above the latissimus dorsi. You can train this muscle more specifically by widening your grip during a lat pulldown. Keep your hands as far apart on the pulldown bar as you can and you will feel the extra focus being driven towards the teres major. The traps are by far one of the most extensive and largest muscles of your back. With fibers in the upper traps running in one direction and those in the lower traps running in a different direction, you can preferentially accentuate the work of each area by changing the position of the angle of pull. A good traps exercise therefore must position the arm at an angle while the lower traps can be hit nicely on the inverted y exercise. The rotator cuff and lower back are no less important to complete back development. Also, you'll notice that I take a full scoop of pre-workout even though it's after 9pm. That's just because this specific pre-workout has a nitric oxide blend but no caffeine or anything so it will get you a good workout and increase your circulation but nothing that will keep you awake after your workout. Now, as you'll see, once I get to the gym, I spend about my first 15 warming up my leg muscles. So I start with 5 minutes of LISS cardio, then warm up my knees and stretch out my hip flexors. After that, I will usually do my first compound exercise with light weight to force blood into the muscles to avoid injuries. Female body building is becoming ever more popular and the influx of female wrestlers in WWE has increased significantly over the last decade. Well that's exactly what i want to go over today the 5 biggest & best muscle building tips for beginners & naturals. You might be thinking well who the heck are you to be giving me tips on building muscle & that's a very fair question. Afterall i spend most of the time on this channel talking about fat loss but my experience in fitness is firmly rooted in natural bodybuilding. I took myself from being a chubby teenager with hardly any muscle to a 230 pound fitness model & I did it all naturally. So if you want to learn how to build muscle using steroids there are probably way better sources out there but if you want to learn how to do it naturally give this video a chance because I spent over 10 years focusing on finding the fastest ways to build muscle, & in the process of opening 3 gyms I also prepped a lot of men & women for natural bodybuilding & bikini competitons. So today I want to give you all my most guarded muscle building secrets for free. I'm also going to do my best to make all these tips unique so it's not going to be the same old stuff that you've heard over & over again like simply telling you to eat more protein. With that said let's start with the very first tip which is to incorporate periodization. If done correctly this is one of the most powerful things you can do to improve your muscle strength & size consistently. In a nutshell periodization is the systematic breakdown of your training plan over the course of time & it will include micro meso & macro Cycles. Which will esentially break down your training plan in to weeks months & years. But instead of explaining to you every possible way that you could incorporate different cycles of periodization I'd rather give you guys a simple actionable plan to consistently make progress using the exact periodization strategy that helped me the most. Youre gonna start by finding out what maximal weight load you can lift for each of your compound exercises for roughly 9 to 10 reps. This means that if you select a weight that you can do for 11 reps you should up that weight & the same goes vice versa if you select a weight that's too heavy & you can only do it for 7 reps drop the weight. You're going to stick this rep range for 2 to 3 weeks straight & you're going to try to increase the weight that you're using over the course of these two to three weeks again staying within that 9 to 10 rep range. After those two to three weeks are over you're going to switch to a rep range of 5 to 7 reps. Again find the maximum weight you could do for that rep range which should obviously be more weight than what you were doing for 9 to 10 reps. Now you're going to stick to this new rep range for another two to three weeks once again trying to up the weight whenever you can as long as you stay Within that 5 to 7 rep range. Finally after youre done with those weeks you're going to do a rep range of 3 reps for all those compound exercises again for two to 3 weeks before switching back to the original 9 to 10 rep range. When you come back to the 9 to 10 rep range you'll notice that you were significantly stronger & able to lift more weight. And you just continuously work through these Cycles. Every time you come back to an old rep range you want to try to increase your weight load even if it's by 2.5 lbs. This method helped me break through some of my biggest plateaus that I've experienced with building muscle. Literally do exactly that & I promise you won't be disappointed with your results. Let's move on to the second tip increase meal frequency. Now I know this goes against my typical advice that I give for fat loss. For fat loss meal frequency doesn't matter that much but building muscle requires a lot of calories especially if youre struggling with building muscle you're going to need a lot of food. The only way that you're going to be able to eat enough throughout the day is by eating more often.

Sadly, I have some crappy genetics and gaining muscle and losing fat has always been an uphill battle for me. But I’ve never given up and in the process, I’ve learned everything there is to gaining muscle and losing fat, naturally. This also probably explains why I became an anti-aging, endocrinology doctor - which is the study of hormones. And I’ve coached professional and Olympic athletes, including lots of bodybuilders. So today, I’m here to pass on all of my wisdom, so you can learn from my mistakes. I’ve simplified the entire process of gaining muscle to 4 simple and clinically proven “ingredients”. 4 Primary Ingredients For Building Muscle Ingredient #1 - HORMONES Before anything can be said and done, you must have the right hormones for building muscle. They need to be optimized. We all have different genetics and please don’t compare yourself to someone else who might have great genetics and then think there’s something wrong with you. Just as someone who is a genius and has a high IQ, some people are just born with lots of muscle cells and the perfect hormones for building muscle and losing fat. If you don’t optimize your hormones, anything else you do will NOT work and it’ll be a waste of effort, time and money. In fact, the right hormonal environment will make you grow muscle without doing anything - no exercise, diets or supplements. And, this is exactly what happens when you hit puberty and all of a sudden you start getting muscular, leaner, more aggressive, hornier, etc. It’s ALL about the hormones. But let’s move on to the second most important ingredient and that’s EXERCISE Ingredient #2 - EXERCISE In order for muscle to grow, it FIRST needs to be “stimulated” and that requires exercise. The correct form of exercise ALSO produces important hormones and growth factors, that will build muscle. And in order to do this, you need to lift weights. Now, this can be with dumbbells, barbells, cables, machines or your own bodyweight. It doesn’t matter. Okay, now that you’ve stimulated the muscle, have produced the right hormones, it’s time to FEED your muscles. Ingredient #2 - DIET If you don’t feed your muscles, the workouts will cause you to LOSE muscle. In fact, this is what happened to me when I first started. I thought I’d lift weights to make my muscles grow and then eat less food to lose fat. But all I did was get smaller and weaker. I was like anorexic. However, you don’t need that much extra food. Increase your calories by about 250-500 daily and see how you look and feel after a month. If you’re not getting fat, then good. If you are, lower the calories a little. This has to do with YOUR body, so listen to it, pay attention. As far as WHAT to eat. Okay… this is where all the confusion comes. Simple, easy and effective. Ingredient #4 - REST Now that you’ve stimulate and fed the muscle, you need to REST it. Just like a baby, you need your rest to grow. As far as sleep, get as much as you need. Some need 6 hours and some need 9. Go to bed before midnight and wake up naturally. ======================================== ========================================­ Thank you for watching. Although skinny-fat people have a low-to-moderate body fat percentage, they still look soft and out of shape because they have very little muscle mass. They tend to accumulate fat easily around the waist but very little on their legs and arms. Also, they usually have a hip dominant bone structure: relatively narrow shoulders and rib cage and wider waist and hips. Many people starting from this point are discouraged because they think their genetics work against them and they can never have the proportions to look great. That’s not true. Look at Ryan Gosling as an example. He clearly has wide waist and hips due to his bone structure, and a tendency to store fat on his belly. But that didn’t stop him from building a great physique, and being considered one of the most attractive men alive. So while you may have what would be considered “bad genetics” you definitely can build a very attractive and strong physique. Once you develop your shoulders, arms, back and chest and get your waist smaller, you will look like a Hollywood actor.
