25 things to do in Dublin Travel Guide

15:07
So this week we're excited to be exploring Dublin and we're planning to spend an entire week here. This video is going to highlight 25 things to do around the city. Dublin is where most trips in Ireland begin, so before seeing the rest of the country, Audrey and I spent a whole week getting to know the capital. When the weather cooperated we walked around the city, toured Trinity College, and visited the botanical gardens, and when it poured rain as it often does in this part of the world, we just popped into a pub for some Irish stew and a pint of Guinness. The following video will show you a few of the different things to do in Dublin, Ireland. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't find in your typical tourism brochure or Dublin city guide. 25 things to do in Dublin Ireland | Top Attractions Travel Guide Video Transcript: Trinity College was founded in 1592 and it is the oldest university in Ireland. The campus is open to visitors interested in touring the grounds, and you'll also get to hear some fascinating stories of famous students, including the likes of Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift, and Bram Stoker. The Guinness Storehouse is Dublin's most popular attraction, and it's a must-visit for beer lovers. The Storehouse covers seven floors surrounding a glass atrium shaped like a pint of Guinness. Inside you'll also find a copy of the 9,000 year lease signed by Arthur Guinness on the brewery site - they won't be going anywhere for a while! Grafton Street is one of the main shopping areas in Dublin. You're likely to find lots of musicians, buskers, and performers along here, plus you get a good vantage point of The Spire. Prior to the establishment of Glasnevin Cemetery, Irish Catholics had no place of their own to bury their dead. This burial ground gave both Irish Catholics and Protestants a place where they could give their dead dignified burial, and it has since become the resting place for people of all religions and non religions. Experience Gaelic Games is a place where you can come and try traditional Irish sports like hurling and Gaelic football. The Old Jameson Distillery is the original site where Jameson Irish Whiskey was distilled until 1971. It is now a visitor centre that offers both guided tours and whiskey tastings. Temple Bar is an area known for its lively nightlife. Located on the southbank of the River Liffey, you'll find all sorts of pubs playing live music once the sun goes down. There's also one pub in Temple Bar, called The Temple Bar, but don't let that confuse you. And that's a wrap for our time in Dublin! We hope you enjoyed this video and that it gave you a few ideas of what the city has to offer. As always, if you have any other suggestions of fun things to do in Dublin as a visitor, feel free to share them in the comments below. Wishing you happy travels! This is part of our Travel in Ireland series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Irish culture, Irish foods & Irish cuisine. Music in this video courtesy of Audio Network

This one was filmed slightly different but we go off of the vibe when there and this just felt right since we were there for such a short time. I hope you enjoyed :) Where should we travel next?! On a higher end we would spend about 100 CUC per day on drinks, taxis, tours, food etc. It definitely adds up and goes quickly so be sure to budget! - We filled out/purchased our Visas and certification at the airport. We flew with Delta so make sure you confirm that you can do that the day of with your airline. - Download this app! Trust me it will save you in so many ways. The map on here is amazing and its all "offline" (Just type in "Cuba" in the app store on your phone and its the green one, looks like this) : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.triposo.droidguide.cuba WHERE WE STAYED: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/15752806 *Amazing place. Super nice couple that rents it. They gave us a phone that works with their numbers in case and everything is super secure. Great location too! Places we went to: - Plaza De La Cathedral: This is perfect for a photo-op plus it has an inlet street with the Cafe I mentioned and a bunch of resturants - Plaza Vieja: Super pretty, definitely go here for lunch. Great views and a ton of restaurant options with live music. - Parque Central / Paseo Del Prado : This is definitely a must see! You will find the Capitol building, great hotels with rooftop views and a plethora of classic cars to look at or pick one to ride in. - Museum of Revolution : This is a great way to cool off and kill some time. It was once home to Presidents and is beyond beautiful as it was designed by Tiffany & Co. - Hotel National- This is a super fancy hotel with amazing views! We stopped to check it out as a lot of our famous favorites have stayed there. It's definitely a taxi distance away from Old Habana though. Bars: Hotel Inglaterra- This is an amazing rooftop bar with an incredible view! I had my share of sangria's here :) Floridita- One of Hemingway's must stop for a Daiquiri. I really loved these but keep in mind they are 6 CUC a piece compared to 3-4 CUC most other places. La Bodeguita De Medio- Hemingway Bar #2. This was his go-to spot for Mojitos! Beware this is a tourist trap and you might be drinking your mojito on the street depending on the time of the day. Cafe: Cafe De O'Reilly- This was our go-to for breakfast and morning coffee. Try the Cafe Bombon, it was my favorite. Dinner: La Guarida- We found this to be our favorite spot. The restaurant requires reservations, but if you forget like us, you can go up to the roof for amazing sunset views and the best food we had the whole trip! Tips: - The classic cars you see are Taxi's and cost more than the regular cars. You can however rent one for around 20 CUC for an hour city tour. Definitely worth it. Plus they make for great photos ;) - If you are staying in Old Habana, the entire area of Habana Vieja and everything I mentioned is super walkable. Not Sponsored.

Dublin is one of the liveliest and friendliest cities we've visited! Like me before my trip, you might be asking yourself “what’s the appeal outside of the bars and all that Guinness?”. well firstly, this is a young person’s city; Dublin’s boasts Europe’s youngest population, where some 50% of people living here are under the age of 25. So yes, bars, nightlife, parties and Guinness are popular, though definitely not exclusive to this demographic. And while Dublin certainly does dabauchery famously, it’s only when you visit this old and beautiful city that you really see how the Republic of Ireland’s capital is way more than hedonistic haven for hen do’s and lad’s weekends away. Just take a mosey down the cobbled streets and it’s like nothing has changed over the last hundred odd years. The greatest thing about my time Dublin was realising that this city is one with a rich and colourful history. There’s a banging food scene, and of course, there are plenty of things to see and do during your trip. Coming up, I’m gonna tell you about transport, money and some of my favorite things to do, but first, let’s take a look at getting here. The airport is 10km outside Dublin and is the only international airport serving the city. From here, your choices for transport to the centre are bus or a taxi, as there’s no train station at the airport. Dublin airport’s Aircoach will take you to various locations across the city, so make sure you know which stop is nearest your hotel. Dublin is compact, which means if you’re staying in the city centre, you can pretty much walk to everything. However, if you want to get around quickly, hop on a tram. The Lewes is Dublin’s tram system; there are two lines, red and green. And the walk from the end of the green line to the red line is about 15 minutes. Don’t forget to always tap in and tap out, otherwise you’ll get charged the maximum possible fare. If you plan on making multiple journeys, we recommend getting a Leap Card. It’s Dublin’s public transport top-up smart card and you can get them at the airport or at local shops, wherever you see the sign. Dublin’s nightlife is legendary, and Temple Bar is the centre of it all. Yes, it’s where all the tourists go, but Temple Bar is packed with pubs, bars, live music and clubs. If you want to have a great night out in Dublin, this is where to go. Written by Irish monks around 800AD, the Book is a decorated version of the Paul Gospels that’s kept at the centre of an exhibition in Trinity College. Just don’t expect a photo, as no cameras are allowed near the book, no even ours! However, our highlight has to be the Long Room, holding around 200,000 books, it’s a vast collection that seems to go on and on and on and on and on and on and on, forever. Next is Kilmainham Gaol, a former Irish prison that held many of the revolutionaries of the past, in particular, the leaders of the 1916 Easter Rising. Abandoned in 1924 and restored in the 1960s, it now serves as a museum where you can learn all about the history of Irish independence. The gaol is 3 and a half kilometers out of the city centre, so you’ll need to get the Luas or the bus here. Tickets are available online, you book your timeslot and the website recommends arriving 15 minutes before your tour is due to start. Because the museum can only take a limited number of people at a time, booking ahead is the only way to guarantee entry on the day.

www.ireland-travels.com www.facebook.com/IrelandTravels Follow @TravelsIreland Ireland travel is about taking a journey into the magical. While taking a tour of Ireland you should always include time to travel West Cork and Mizen Head. You can experience more of the West Cork (http://youtu.be/RsCKBYW955Q) area and Mizen Head at my Ireland blog using the links above. Whether you are walking the paths of the many parks, climbing the rocky hills, fishing from the rugged coastline, sitting on a sandy beach, taking photographs of the Irish countryside or cycling the winding roads; a tour of this scenic area of southwest County Cork, Ireland is a must. What is the best part of Crookhaven? The harbor? No. The views of the surrounding hillside? No. The warmth of the sun on a beautiful day? No. The mesmerizing sight of masts and sails bobbing back-and-forth? Again, no. The best part of Crookhaven, and possibly the world, is O'Sullivans Bar. Our quick trip through a remote portion of West Cork begins in the village of Crookhaven. It is imperative before you leave town that you stop in the pub for a filling meal and a pint. Whatever you do, don't have the Guinness. Try the Murphy's! After you've enjoyed your toasted special, order a scone with jam. Get two; you know you'll eat them both! After you leave town, you will wind your way back to Galley Cove. You can take the turn at the beach and follow the lane up to the top of Brow Head (http://youtu.be/fdyNQLhDVOQ). From the top, you will see Marconi Tower, Mizen Head (http://youtu.be/P7z7hdDd2AU), Barley Cove and the Fastnet Rock. After you pass the turn for Galley Cove, White Strand will be on your right. The tides are amazing here. If the tide is out, you will have a massive beach area to explore. If the tide is in, the water will nearly come all the way to the wall lining the road. Continuing along, you will drive the entire northwest length of Crookhaven harbor. On a sunny day, the water sparkles making the entire scene beautiful. Eventually you will come to the small village of Goleen. This small farm town is home to a couple of shops and a few pubs. Past Goleen, you will head into the hills and the remote areas of the Mizen. Winding along the narrow roads, you will come to Sheehan's Pass. As you cross over the pass, Dunmanus Bay and Sheep's Head come into view. Making your way down the hill will make you thankful for a good set of brakes. You will continue to drive through the farms that make up the north side of the Mizen peninsula. Authors Patrick McCarthy and Richard Hawkes wrote about the history and traditions of this wonderful area in their book Backside of the Mizen. Finally arriving at the end of your journey, it is time to light a fire, pour a cup of tea, grab a book and settle in for a quiet evening. Planning your next vacation to Ireland? Don't forget to tour West Cork, Crookhaven and the Mizen peninsula! This video was taken using my GoPro Hero 2 Motorsports Edition. Thanks to Nissan for giving me a relatively flat surface to mount the camera. www.ireland-travels.com www.facebook.com/IrelandTravels Follow @TravelsIreland Track title: Hillside Celebrations

Here are 10 things to do and see. 1. Trinity College Long Room and Book of Kells, The old Library In the 18th century you will find the Long Room, which no doubt is one of the most impressive library space in the world, and some of Ireland's most cherished relics. Wooden harp here, dating from the 15th century, has become a symbol of Ireland which is visible from the Guinness logo until Ireland coins. One of the few copies of the proclamation of the Republic of Ireland in 1916 can also be seen here. Absolute and should be seen by all visitors of Dublin. And this Dublin Guide. 2.The Museum's Little Dublin Dublin is an ancient city, but the life and culture of the inhabitants are the more modern same Interestingly with the Viking past. No place is more fun to explore it than the Little Museum of Dublin. Like a museum, its collection is located in the Georgia town that is filled with artifacts, stories, and exhibitions of 20th-century life in the city 3.Kilmainham Gaol Tasteful, spacious and quiet, an empty jail was Kilmainham Gaol in Europe and has a lot of stories on the walls were thick and cold. During the operations of the year 1796 until 1924, the prison involves ordinary criminals including men, women, and children in addition to the many prominent political figures in Ireland. 4.Dublin Castle and the Chester Beatty Library Dublin Castle is an ancient fortress of the Vikings. Look under the Fort to explore the trenches and fortifications, then appeared to take a walk in the beautiful garden. Check the calendar to see what's there during your visit. Since the year 2000 the ramparts have been accommodating, Chester Beatty Library collections of books, manuscripts, and art from around the world that supply, dubbed the European Museum of the Year Award. 5. Ireland Emigration Museum EPIC The story of Ireland did not end up on the beaches of the Emerald Isle. Ireland has many millions of people immigrate and, in the process, reshape other countries around the world with their unique presence. This interactive museum in Dublin's Docklands explores why, however, and suffered 10 million epic journeys. 6. St Stephen's Green Park A green gem in the heart of Dublin, St. Stephen's Green is the perfect place to stop and smell the flowers. However, people have been doing it for 400 years. Currently, the park retains most of the elements of design Victoria commissioned by Sir Arthur Guinness, who restored the private green briefly and reopen the city of Dublin in the year 1880. www.ireland-travels.com www.facebook.com/IrelandTravels Follow @TravelsIreland In the early winter of 2012, I spent nine days trudging from field to field and tower to tower in Southwest Ireland. My trip was based in the Mizen Peninsula in West Cork. Along the way, I visited Castledonovan, Toormore, attempted to have tea with Jeremy Irons at his Kilcoe Castle, got lost down beautiful country roads, scaled the walls to visit the ruins of Rossbrin Castle and Raheen Castle near Rineen. I also spent a fantastic day exploring the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry. While there I visited Inch Beach, Minard Castle, the Dunbeg Promontory Fort, Coumeenoole Beach, Gallerus Oratory and Kilmalkedar Monastery. I finished my nine days in West Cork exploring an old estate and castle in Downeen near Rosscarbery, Coppinger's Court, the ancient Drombeg Stone Circle and braved the "lady of the lake" at Three Castle Head. Please join me on this fantastic tour of one of the most amazing places on earth. "As Robert Frost Once Said..." Over the coming weeks, I will be sharing my personal thoughts, practical ideas and historical facts about my most recent trip to West Cork. On this particular trip, I was by myself as I explored many sites in the West Cork area that over time have largely been forgotten. I also spent a very long day seeing Dingle. I will be telling the story using my words and photographs. I make no claims of being Mark Twain or Ansel Adams, but I will do my best to create an image that captures the magic of West Cork. The title of this series is "Nine Days in the Mud." I know it's not a very original considering I was in Ireland for nine days in late November and early December but "Road to West Cork" sounded too Bing and Bob. Planning for this trip started like most when I'm traveling without my wife and kids. I travel a great deal for work and adding that extra week away from the family is sometimes hard to reconcile in my mind. Shawn, my wife, keeps assuring me that it is fine. I grumble about feeling bad for leaving them "yet again" for the sake of "having fun." Ultimately, the cycle is broken, and I head to the Aer Lingus website to purchase my ticket. There's no turning back now. On the evening of November 25, I'm headed to Ireland! With two days to spare, I decided to get my trip planned. I don't want to be over prepared! I grabbed my books, my ordinance maps and a cup of coffee. It was reminiscent of an old war movie with a grizzled general studying the map table determining his strategy. One book in particular was very helpful. It was written by Jack Roberts and is called "Exploring West Cork: The Guide to Discovering the Ancient, Sacred and Historic Sites of West Cork." The book details so many "lost" places in West Cork and gives a general idea of where they're located. From here, I would go to my collection of Ordnance Survey Ireland maps to find the exact location. I paged through the book marking places of interest and then marked them with color coded Post-its. My maps were painted with rainbows of Irish fun, and I was basking in the organized glow of the German part of my ancestry. With a plan in place, I was ready to go. Before I end, I have to get something off my chest. This is a note (and the practical information portion of this program) for those of you who have never been to Ireland. ALL Irish tourist sites and brochures lie. Every one of them. Without exception. Scandalous words I know. Here's my point before I'm taken out back and made to eat my words. You look at all this material, and what do you see? You see people in shirtsleeves enjoying the sites while basking in the sun. Oh sure, some of the photos have a bit of cloud cover and people wearing jackets. However, they never show the days, and there are lots of them, when it's extremely windy and raining sideways. Just once, I'd like to see a mass of miserable tourists huddled around a small fire attempting to raise their temperature to "pleasantly frozen." A lot of places in the world claim to have four seasons in one day. Ireland does this regularly, beautifully and without fanfare! So. What did Robert Frost say? From his poem "The Road Not Taken": Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. Let's take that less traveled road. You never know who or what you'll meet. Places visited: Castledonovan Kilcoe Castle -- Jeremy Irons Rossbrin Castle Inch Beach Minard Castle Dunbeg Promontory Fort Dingle Coumeenoole Beach Reask Monastic Site Gallarus Oratory Kilmalkedar Monastery Raheen Castle Castlehaven Harbor Glandore Downeen Castle Coppinger's Court Drombeg Stone Cirlce Christmas tree Skibbereen Lough Hyne Three Castle Head Durrus Schull Dunbeacon Dumanus Bay Bantry Cashel www.ireland-travels.com www.facebook.com/IrelandTravels Follow @TravelsIreland Track title: Lonely Wanderer

Leah Travels: Drogheda, Newgrange, Hill of Tara, & Duleek in IRELAND ☘

04:18
*Song: "Illusion" by LEAH, from the album, "Of Earth & Angels". BUY HERE: https://goo.gl/sJXDcK More from my Slow Travel Adventures! This time we saw a lot in one day in Drogheda. I had no idea what to expect. Newgrange was one of the coolest places I've ever been! It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's the inside that's incredible. Unfortunately, they don't allow cameras of any kind inside for preservation reasons. There are many photos online though. The best part was when they did a mini-reenactment for us of what it looks like during Winter Solstice when the sun rays come in through that little opening above the door. What's really amazing is the way they build it inside. The chamber to get to the middle is very narrow and goes up a hill. You have to duck and walk sideways in places if you are a wide or tall person - not nice if you have claustrophobia! But when you get to the middle, it's a very small circular dome. And once a year, for only a few minutes, the sun shines right inside, up the hill to the center of the dome. So for that reason, and because, there were definitely human remains found, they believe these original people who built Newgrange were most likely sun-worshippers. Really fascinating stuff! Hill of Tara was a little underwhelming if you don't have much info going into it. I wish we had read up on it a little more than we did before we arrived, however, a lady at the welcome desk gave us some great information that made spending time at the site more meaningful. Lots of tales and stores about Saint Patrick stirring the pot with ancient pagan kings! And finally, Duleek - one of the original stone churches in Ireland. Just cool to say you've seen it in person! I hope you enjoyed the home footage, and there's more coming! Tell me in the comments if you'd like more of these videos! Ireland (Europe) Vacation Travel Video Guide

✱ 3.113 Hotels in Ireland - Lowest Price Guarantee ► http://goo.gl/2zYMsN Travel video about destination Ireland. Ireland is one of Europe’s most green and mysterious islands and everyone who visits this isolated island in the Atlantic Ocean is given a very warm welcome. Dublin is the capital of the Irish Republic and it is a city of musicians, poets and dreamers, as well as being a financial centre. Its many old buildings indicate its long and dramatic past. It was founded by the Vikings within a wonderful valley where the River Liffey flows into the Atlantic Ocean. After the Vikings, the Normans conquered the city and ruled over it for seven hundred years and under King Henry The Eighth Dublin became the capital of what was then a British colony. South west of Dublin is Kildare, the heart of Ireland’s horse racing. In 1902 the Irish national stud, Tully House, was founded there. Rich and eccentric Scottish brewery heir, Colonel William Hall-Walker, had the idea of a creating unique horse breeding scheme that would be based upon astrological calculation. The Wicklow Mountains are a natural paradise of mountains, swamps and lakes, beautiful valleys and a fascinating mountain landscape to the south of Dublin. Jerpoint Abbey near Thomastown dates back to the twelfth century and is one of the most beautiful Cistercian ruins in Ireland. It was founded in around 1160 by Donal Mac Gillapatrick, the King Of Ossory. The Cistercians built the monastery in characteristic style and one of the stone sarcophaguses is said to contain the bones of Holy Nicolas who was buried there by the Crusaders. Although much of it has remained unspoiled, Ireland has undergone much change. It is a land of great natural beauty, healthy commercial success and excellent hospitality: a wild green island set in the wild Atlantic Ocean! -------------- Watch more travel videos ► https://goo.gl/MXPgSs Join us. Ireland's West Coast: Galway to Cliffs of Moher, to Dingle

10:38
Our scenic drive from Galway to Dingle, Ireland, travels through various small towns with several stops along the way to admire fine Irish views. Click to Subscribe http://bit.ly/2pmdyeu This coastal route is called the Wild Atlantic Way. From Galway City, we drive south to Oranmore and then to Kinvara. Turning right in Kinvara, we went through the Burren in County Clare, down to the Cliffs of Moher. And from the Cliffs of Moher we came down the west coast of Clare. We came down to Liscannor and continued on into Lahinch. From Lahinch we went down the west coast all the way down to Doonbeg. We had lunch in Kilrush and then caught our ferry across the River Shannon. We came into North Kerry, to Tarbert. And from Tarbert we came into Listowel. And from Listowel we went to Tralee, and from Tralee – we stopped in Tralee. We had a look at the gardens in Tralee and the history museum. We went to Camp, Lispole and on into Dingle and the Dingle Peninsula. http://tourvideos.com/
