And for this they don't have to make great discoveries or compose symphonies. They simply do absolutely incredible things in a different way. They challenge themselves and the forces of nature to show that the human body is capable of great things. Seeing these characters in action is more interesting than any popular television series. But, like any good series, these stories are still great if you see them some time after they appear. So who are these people who have achieved the impossible?

You could call Ben Lecomte the real life Captain Planet! He's a long-distance swimmer about to take on the Pacific Ocean to draw attention to the needs of Mother Earth. Two decades ago, he did something similar by swimming across the Atlantic, becoming the first person to make the journey solo. As he tackles the Pacific, Lecomte will encounter many dangers, including a migration area for great white sharks. InsideEdition.com's Keleigh Nealon (http://twitter.co.m/KeleighNealon) has more.

have you ever wanted to swim to the bottom of the deep end in your swimming pool? I'm going to teach you how to swim deep in 3 easy steps. 1. Know that your body will float if your lungs are full of air. This is good because you want that air in your lungs to help you get back up to the surface. 2. use your feet to kick all the way down to the bottom of the pool. You can also use this technique to swim across the bottom of the swimming pool. 3. Don't forget to Equalize. If you goo too deep without equalizing then your ears will hurt. To Equalize your ears simply plug your nose and blow to push the pressure off your ears. this method will counter the pressure from the water pushing in on your ears and will make life much better when swimming to the bottom of the deepest pools. Thanks for watching and good luck swimming down deep Music: "A Walk in the Park 5" (Sting) -Martin Gauffin (Intro Music) "Manors and Manners 3" -Johannes Bornlöf My name is Elizabeth. A single man (movie, 2010). Kenny: You know, everyone keeps telling you that when youre older, that youll have all this experience - like its some great thing. George: Thats a load of shit. I think Ive actually just gotten sillier and sillier. Kenny: Really? George: Absolutely. Kenny: So all your experience is useless? George: No, I wouldnt say that. As our friend Mr. Huxley says: Experience is not what happens to a man; it is what a man does with what happens to him. Kenny: Let's go swimming. George: Okay. *Kenny Laugh.* George: What ? Kenny: It was a test. I thaught you were bluffing about being silly, so I said to myself : I'll suggest doing something completely outrageous, and if you resist, if you hesitate, then I was foolish. George: Well I wasn't. Kenny: Hell, no !

Subscribe to GTN: http://gtn.io/SubscribetoGTN Check out the GTN Shop: http://gtn.io/15 Open water swimming can be a bit daunting for new triathletes but once you take the plunge we guarantee you'll enjoy it! Mark and Heather are at the BEST Swim Centre in Mallorca and bring your their top tips for beginning your open water journey. Here are their 9 top tips for open water swimming: - Equipment: Buy a wetsuit that fits well to prevent fighting it or carrying lots of water in it. Make sure you can be seen with a bright coloured hat and ensure you have a good set of googles to be able to see the course and any dangers ahead. - Safety: This is paramount in open water swimming. Swim at a proper venue with water testing and make sure to swim with someone else or have a spotter on the side. Also, familiarise yourself with the course entry and exit point before jumping in. - Warm up: It can be difficult to warm up when the water is cold so limbering up before can make a big difference. A few press ups and arm swings will suffice. - Climatization: Sit on the edge with your feet in the water and splash some on your face to get your body used to the cold water. - Lie on your back: Enter the water slowly to allow your body to get used to the temperature change. A good way to relax is lie on your back and take several deep breaths to control your breathing. - Rescue: Should you find yourself in difficulty in deep water then roll on to your back and wave to catch someone attention. - Confidence: Build confidence by taking it one step at a time. Step one is to fully submerge whilst blowing bubbles do ensure you can control your breathing. - Start slowly: Don't rush in to a long swim, especially if you are new to the open water. Swim to a buoy a short distance away, then take a break before continuing. - Finally.... ENJOY IT! I was watching a pod of orcas swimming up the beach, I saw a swimmer swimming along shore directly towards them, at this point I asked my partner to get my mobile phone as I wasn’t sure what would happen and I may have to call for help. The orcas circled her and she got quite the fright. She then got out the water as she was only 20m from shore. Some on lookers chatted to her about the experience and then to my surprise she got back into the water and swam back towards the pod, to I assume continue her training swim. I then launched the drone and filmed from a fair distance away making sure not to disturb the pod of orcas. What I witnessed was truly amazing. Most of us adore beach resorts and go to one of the large saltwater bodies at least once a year. However, we shouldn’t forget that the sea is as attractive as it is wayward. We at Bright Side wondered how a person who happened to be in the open sea should behave. It turns out there are several rules that aren’t at all difficult to remember. Despair is your most dangerous enemy. Don’t give up hope of being saved. There are many stories of people who were found in the open sea months after their disappearance. For instance, 25-year-old sailor Poon Lim, who worked on a British merchant ship, survived alone 133 days in the open sea. After a shipwreck, he managed to find a raft with fresh water, cookies, flares, and a flashlight. Every day, Lim ate only 2 cookies and made 3 sips of water. To avoid muscle atrophy, he even floated around the raft twice a day. As you can see, human possibilities are endless. The main thing is to keep calm and hope for the best. TIMESTAMPS Calm down 0:35 Choose the right swimming style 0:57 Find something that floats 1:37 Take care of clothes 1:55 Decide what you’ll eat 2:16 Provide yourself with liquid 3:01 Save yourself properly 4:02 Don’t lose hope 5:06 SUMMARY: - Panic definitely won’t help you. It can cloud your judgment and make you lose the rhythm of breathing. Therefore, the first thing you should do is to calm down. - The style of swimming you choose determines how long your strength will last. In calm water, it’s better to swim on your back. If waves splash around you, it’s better to swim on your belly. - If you’re in the open sea as a result of a shipwreck or an airplane water landing, there must be plenty of things around you that perfectly keep afloat. It will be even better if it’s a boat or a raft with which ships are equipped. - Remember that open sunlight can be extremely dangerous. So don’t remove your clothes — they’ll protect you from the sun. - If you have rations, divide them into small daily portions. This will make them last for a long time, and you won’t have problems with digestion. - Try to fish even if you have stores of food. After all, fish contain some liquid. - You have to consume the liquid constantly but never drink seawater. - Try to ensure that you always have a couple of empty containers left for collecting rainwater. According to studies, drinking untreated rainwater is safe for your health. - • If you found fluorescein, dissolve it in the water when you see an airplane or ship. It forms a bright spot around you which can be easily seen from the air and from afar. Blue Whale Drone Footage: Swimming With The World's Biggest Animal Subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don't miss out: http://bit.ly/Oc61Hj BLUE WHALES move majestically near the surface of the ocean as an awe-struck diver watches on. The incredible animals were captured on film by Denver-born filmmaker Patrick Dykstra, who fulfilled a long-held dream by swimming with the creatures. The whales are the largest animal to ever inhabit the earth, and outsize even the biggest dinosaurs. Stunning drone footage captures the enormous mammals from above, while in other shots a kayaker paddles just metres from one of the awe-inspiring creatures. You might not be lucky enough to have somewhere warm and sunny or an open water venue near to where you live. But don't worry, you could actually replicate a lot of your open water skills in the local pool, meaning you're nice and confident and ready for race day. We've put together some great techniques and drills that you can do that'll simulate that open water environment that you can do in your next pool session. Subscribe to GTN: http://gtn.io/SubscribetoGTN Check out the GTN Shop: http://gtn.io/6d Thanks to Club La Santa for the locations used in this shoot. So at the start of a lot of triathlons a lot of bodies in the water together and unless you're on the front row of he grid, you're likely to have someone's feet in close proximity to your face. There's often nothing that you could do about that but you can be prepared. And it's actually quite a good thing to do to practise in training starting right behind somebody else so when it comes to race day it's not quite so much of a shock. Treading water's quite a valuable skill to have especially for triathlon, as often a race will have a deep water start and the organisers try and get you into the water well before, sometimes up to 10 minutes. So you don't want to be like frantically wasting your energy, you want to try and stay nice and relaxed and focused on your race. The general technique for this is you need to tread water by using a bit of a backstroke leg kick or an egg beater kick as we call it, and sculling with your arm. But don't fret, you're generally gonna have a wetsuit on so you can be nice and buoyant anyway. Once you've been treading water, you'll start coming to a more horizontal position and start sculling with your arms and kicking with your legs as you're ready for the starter's horn. This is a great activity to practise in the pool. You can do it with fellow athletes. All line up in a line and basically get your coach to count you down as it would be a start and it's all about accelerating straight into your stroke from this position. Now you can also replicate swimming 'round a turn buoy but using the black tee at the bottom of a swimming pool. And obviously if you can take a lane row path it makes it even more realistic. Try doing it with a few other people and then it turns into more of a race day situation. One of the most annoying things in open water swimming is when your goggles start to leak or come off. You probably save more time by actually stopping and clearing them. You can either do this by just stopping outright, treading a bit of water, clearing them and putting them back on or if you want to try and keep moving, and why not flip onto your back. These tips will you make you a lot more confident and relaxed going into your next open water swim race. If you've enjoyed this video, give it a like and share with your triathlon friends.
