5 Dress Shoes Every Man Must Have - What Leather Men's Shoes To Buy - Which Ones To Purchase First

10:52
This video was brought to you in collaboration with AceMarks. You can find all the leather shoes shown in the video on their website: https://gentl.mn/five-dress-shoes-you-need #shoes #dressshoes #gentlemansgazette CODE: gentleman Make sure to use the code gentleman to get an even better deal! Interested in the shoes I'm wearing? Check out: https://www.acemarks.com/ First, by the way, all of the shoes you can see here are from Ace marks, a supplier of handcrafted Italian men's dress shoes and I liked them because they are hand burnished and they provide a really good value under $300. I've had their shoes in my closet from the beginning and I liked them quite a bit because they fit me extremely well. One, the black oxford. Why should you invest in this shoe? It's an all-time classic, especially as a captoe. You can wear it for business, you can wear it to the funeral, and you can wear it for any kind of formal event out there. Also, unlike brown, black comes just in one shade and so you don't have to invest in dozens of black shoes but one is really a staple that you must have. So how do you wear a black oxford? You can wear it with two-piece suits, three-piece suits, particularly in navy, charcoal, and grey, and any kind of other business appropriate suit. It's also good with blazers, maybe a navy blazer with gray flannel slacks or you can wear it with your tuxedo for Black Tie events, your dinner jacket, alternatively, also for white tie or for formal morning dress. The second shoe style I'd invest in if I started all over again is the Brown Derby full brogue wingtip. So why would I go with this shoe? Well, first of all, a Derby is less formal than an Oxford. The Derby has an open lacing system and because of that, it's more flexible so when your feet are tired and they swell and get bigger, it's a more comfortable shoe than an Oxford. Because of that, I like it for traveling. I would choose a medium brown color such as this antique brown cognac from Ace Marks; it's very versatile and because they are hand polished and hand burnished, you see different shades of brown at the tip of the shoe than for example at the bottom. The third shoe style I'd invest in is a loafer. Why a loafer?Well basically, it's a slip-on shoe, it's casual, it's an entirely different style from the other two, yet it's a timeless classic. It's really easy to dress up or down and they come in different variations; you can have tassel loafers and sometimes people think they're old-fashioned yet you can actually have them quite young looking and modern but if you don't like that, go with a penny loafer because they're really classic and they're called that way because you used to be able to put a little penny in the front opening. For versatility, I'd go with a different shade in brown than you chose for your Derby wingtip. The fourth shoe style I'd invest in is a double monk strap in a reddish color because it's very versatile, it's stylish, and it's young, and it's just different than all the other shoes that you already have in your wardrobe at this point. This model from Ace Marks comes in a brandy antique Brown which means it was hand polished and hand burnished to achieve different color tones. The fifth shoe style I would invest in is a half brogue Oxford in a medium brown. Here I have an Ace Mark shoe in a lighter antique tan which is once again different than all the other brown tones in my wardrobe. It has a captoe with nice broguing, a medallion, and it's less casual than the full wingtip Derby shoe. I'm adding it to the collection because it's kind of an in-between the more formal Oxford and the more casual Derby. It fits right in between because it doesn't have a wingtip but it has broguing, yet at the same time, it's an Oxford and not a Derby. So if you invest in these five shoe styles, you truly have an extremely versatile dress shoe closet and you can hold off on investments and maybe invest in other parts of your wardrobe. #dressshoes #mensshoes #acemarks --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Italian vs. American vs. English Men's Dress Shoes & What Distinguishes Them - Gentleman's Gazette

10:26
This video was made in collaboration with AceMarks, purveyor of Italian Men's Dress Shoes with a great bang for the buck. #dressshoes #acemarks #mensdressshoes Currently, they have a Kickstarter where you can get a pair of shoes for under $200: http://bit.ly/get-your-acemarks CHECK OUT OUR IN-DEPTH GUIDE TO SHOES, HERE: https://gentl.mn/what-makes-italian-shoes-different SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Shadow Stripe Ribbed Socks Light Brown and Blue - https://gentl.mn/2FCAzSP 2. Brown Madder Silk Pocket Square - https://gentl.mn/2FEqbtW What makes Italian shoes different from English or American shoes? Hallmarks Of Italian Shoes Italy has a long-standing tradition in craftsmanship and specifically, in leather goods. Because of that, you can find lots of shoemakers still in Italy, as well as many shoe factories. Even in Europe, Italy has probably the highest density of bespoke shoemakers you can find. It's the same with tailors, shirt makers and other crafts especially related to menswear. One thing that always struck me about Italian bespoke shoes is that even a shoemaker in a small town has a very good eye for an elegant last. Not so in Italy; the construction you find in Italian bespoke shoes is usually a hand-sewn Goodyear welt. Sometimes you can also find the Norwegian welt which is called Norvegese in Italian and it's more visible, it is more time consuming and not many other shoemakers are so much in love with that welt as Italians are. Are Ace Marks The Best Italian Shoes Money Can Buy? Absolutely not, however, that's not their focus. They try to sell a shoe that is fairly priced with a very high-quality level and an extremely great value level at a lower price. So let's have a closer look at Italian made factory shoes such as Ace Marks. It's All About The Leather Italians are very good tanners and because of that, most Italian shoes are made of Italian leather. Unlike in other countries, you can find entire towns dedicated to leather tanning and it's just a joy to see that that craft is still so very much alive in Italy today. So when you look at quality Italian Shoes, they will likely have a hand burnished patina with either something darker areas and lighter areas which makes the shoe more lively, easier to combine, and it simply looks much better than a plain colored leather shoe. Shoe Construction Most quality Italian shoes are either Blake-stitched or Blake rapid stitched. Blake rapid is superior to just Blake and very similar to Goodyear in the sense that it's more complex but with Blake sometimes you also have the issue that the thread will transport water from the wet street directly to the inside of your shoe which can be quite uncomfortable. Shoe Quality In terms of costs, they're all very similar to each other including the machine-made Goodyear welt. In terms of quality, many would rate Goodyear welt on top of the bunch however, that's not necessarily true. A Goodyear welted shoe just has different characteristics than let's say a blake rapid shoe. Ultimately what matters more is the design of the last and how it works with your foot. When it comes to heel height Italian shoes have been all over the place. In the 70s, you saw really really tall heels but today, you can mostly find a moderate heel which is perfectly suitable for every kind of man. Overall I would say that Italian shoes are always a little more fashion-forward, they have lasts that are longer, maybe a little rounded, maybe a little more extreme, they're usually very stylish, and always put emphasis on elegance. What About English Factory Made Shoes? In my experience, they're generally a little stiffer which means the uppers are a little stiffer, the soles a little stiffer, and that's because they use the Goodyear welt method, machine welted almost exclusively in every factory I've ever seen. What About American Shoes Such As Allen Edmonds or Aldens? Just like English shoes, they're machine Goodyear welted and their lasts are generally a little more old-fashioned. Some people may call it clunky but overall, it's just a different type of last. Overall, I say American shoes are more similar to English shoes than Italian shoes but obviously, that's a generalization. You can always find exceptions to the rule. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? 7 Men's Summer Shoe Mistakes & What Shoes To Wear

10:14
Read our in-depth guide, here: https://gentl.mn/summer-shoe-mistakes SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. Madder Silk Tie in Bottle Green Macclesfield Neats - https://gentl.mn/2mzwq6g 2. Purple Shoelaces - https://gentl.mn/2zUaLPN 3. Socks with Clocks - https://gentl.mn/2L9gvu5 #shoemistakes #summershoes #notsponsored People can wear absolutely anything today and trust me, they do. But as a gentleman, there are certain classic style rules that help make you look well put together even during the peak heat of summer. Mistake number one, wearing sandals or flip-flops for anything other than very specific outdoor occasions. Sorry, gentlemen, but if you're serious about your outward appearance, wearing sandals or flip-flops on a regular basis is simply not in the cards unless you're rafting or walking in a rocky riverbed. The second mistake is wearing sporty trainers with your trousers and elegant summer outfits. It simply doesn't go together. Trainers are fine if you ride your bike or go to and from the gym or workout in them but outside of that, there's really no place for them in your general wardrobe. The third mistake is not understanding the difference between driving mocs, loafers, and boat shoes. All three of those are great summer shoes because they are slip-ons so it's not just convenient but usually they also have deeper cutouts which expose your ankle more to the air which gives a nice flow that is cooler than wearing other regular lace-up shoes. The fifth mistake is buying sneakers and using them to masquerade other shoes. By that, I mean people try to buy leather sneakers that are more expensive and nicer and so all of a sudden they think they can wear it for business casual or with a suit and it just looks odd and it's not meant to be worn that way. The sixth mistake is to pack away all of your other shoes from your closet and simply use the specific summer shoes. Now yes you want specific summer shoes at the same time you can still get out your old brown loafers for example that you can wear in spring and maybe in the fall. Last but not the least, one of the biggest summer shoe mistakes is not owning a fun pair of distinct summer shoes. There are really lots of ways to have fun even with a classic men's shoe wardrobe and that can include a white pair of buckskin shoes with colorful shoelaces for example and in general if you want to spice things up and you can't quite afford to invest a lot in summer shoes just going with colorful shoelaces. --------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------ Want to stay updated? Brogues & Wingtip Shoes Guide : How To Wear, Buying Tips & Style Advice

07:13
Learn all about Brogues, Wingtips including Ghillie Brogue Shoes, Semi, half or quarter brogues. http://gentl.mn/brogues-wingtip-guide Get the accessories I'm wearing: Ancient Madder Silk Bow Tie in Yellow, Red Blue and Orange Diamond Pattern: https://gentl.mn/2kBV3MN Purple Carnation Boutonniere Life Size Lapel Flower: https://gentl.mn/2kK2uUQ Pocket Square with Monogram Initial Classic White Irish Linen: https://gentl.mn/2kK90Lp Today's video is all about brogues and wingtips. Full brogue, half brogue, quarter brogue, you name it, we'll cover it. First of all, what exactly is a brogue? The brogue shoe has its origins in Ireland, Scotland and it was meant to be an outdoor shoe. Originally, the brogue shoe was an untanned piece of cowhide which had holes to drain the water from rain or when you worked. The brogue has hole perforations, that means, no matter what style of shoe you have, a brogue is a brogue if it has holes. It doesn't matter what kind of Oxford or Monk or Derby you have, it will be a brogue as long as it has holes. When you buy a brogue shoe today, these are the hallmarks that you should look for? 1. Heels - It should have a toecap and a heel cap. 2. Hole perforations, the broguing. BROGUE STYLES: 1. full brogue. It has a very defined cut and layout, and it has lots of hole perforations. A full brogue always has this kind of winged toe cap, and it looks like a W. It also has perforations at the back of the shoe and the side of the shoe. Sometimes the full brogue is also called the wingtip because of its winged tip, the W. Now a variation of this shoe is the so-called Long wingtip where the cap extends all the way to the back. 2. Semi-brogue or half brogue - Defined by a cap toe that is straight across with what is called a medallion on the top that is the hole punching and it's decorative. 3. Quarter brogue - it has the cap toe and lacks the medallion, but it has the hole perforations along the edge. 4. Ghillie brogue - from Scotland and used today for formal evening wear and sometimes people also wear it outside of that, but it's very special because it's a lace up shoe, but it doesn't have a tongue. 5. Lately, one model has been popular is the so-called U cap or U tip brogue because it has this U shape. As I said, brogues can be Oxford, Derbies, or Monk straps. They can be very elegant, work with lots of outfits so don't shy away from these somewhat more unusual styles, they're great and also very classic. Now you may wonder, how do I wear brogue shoes? There are a few rules to consider. Rule number 1: The more broguing a shoe has, the less formal it is. For example, a wingtip full brogue in brown is less formal than a quarter brogue brown. Makes sense right? So if you have a gray, three-piece business suit, you're not going to wear a brown or red full brogue. Usually, you wear a black quarter brogue or semi brogue because they're much better. Rule number 2: Do not wear brogue shoe with evening wear. I know Prince William did it, and it looked terrible. He is not a good dresser, and you should always stay away from broguing with evening wear. If you have suits, especially more formal suits, try to go with less broguing than more. Of course, there are always exceptions to the rule. For semi-formal combinations such as blazers or sport coat outfits, I recommend you wear a full brogue shoe, or you can go with a half brogue. Try to go with more browns or red. Black, maybe but only if you wear gray flannel pants with it. For jeans and chinos, I suggest you go a step further. You can take full brogues and wing tips with a thicker leather sole. You can also do boots with it. You can really experiment with different colors; you can go with suede, leather textures. Overall, just emphasize the more casual character of your outfit. With brogues, you should avoid exotic leathers, simply because you already have the hole perforations and the more holes you have, the more texture and structure you get. Now you add in a crocodile leather, alligator or ostrich, it just is too much, and you cannot see the holes anymore and it's not elegant and stylish. So if you have brogues, try to keep the leather as simple as possible, box calf leathers, may be scotch grain but not more than that. Overall, every man should have at least one brogue shoe in his shoe closet, and if you don't have one right now, please check out our videos on the first three men's shoe you should start with. Business Casual Men's Shoes & How To Wear Them

Yellow Handcrafted Linen Pocket Square with Navy Blue Handrolled X Stitch - https://gentl.mn/2w2LUoq 2. Shadow Stripe Ribbed Socks Dark Navy Blue and Royal Blue - https://gentl.mn/2Mu28RA #businesscasual #shoes #notsponsored Guides you should not miss: DRESSING FOR WORK: https://gentl.mn/2OSMBYv BUSINESS CASUAL EXPLAINED: https://gentl.mn/2PtQ0Oo Business casual today is one of the most widely spread dress codes yet it's often vaguely defined. There's no point in following all the advice we provide in our video if your company is extremely casual or extremely formal. You simply have to figure that out and the best way to do that is to observe what others are wearing or to ask your supervisor. Well-made shoes from quality leather that is expertly polished can really upgrade a cheap suit, at the same time, a cheap pair of shoes can bring down a $5,000 bespoke suit. Business Casual Shoes For White-Collar Environments Because you're in this traditional environment, chances are even business casual is more formal than in other places. Now that doesn't mean that you should wear your black cap toe oxford because that would still be too formal and while it's good with suits for business casual, you can be a bit more daring. For one that means wearing a derby shoe. Derbys have an open lacing system and because of that, they're always slightly less formal than an oxford. Also, I would stay clear of black derbys, instead I would opt for brown ones because brown is one of those shades that has just a hundred or thousand different colors with little variations and so you can never have enough brown shoes. When I say brown I also mean red shoes, either reddish brown, burgundy, or oxblood. These are all fantastic colors for business casual even in a formal environment. Service, Sales, & Trade Industries Chances are you still have client contact and even though it's not required of you to be well dressed, and sometimes it may come off as aloof or not appropriate, people will still judge you and if you look frumpy in sweatpants with a hole that are all dirty, people will think less highly of you, they will assume that you're less competent than if you would wear let's say a nice dress shirt with a pair of chinos. If you are just at the office and never have client contact, your employer will likely have specific ideas of what's acceptable and what's not. If that's not your office, I suggest to just stay clear of sneakers because sneakers are quite casual. The same is true for tennis shoes, Nikes, Adidas, it's simply not work appropriate shoes. Start-up Environment Frankly, the sky's the limit and it can be anything from flip-flop over vans to very extraordinary Gucci loafers. Most startups won't even have a dress code and so it's all about what you're comfortable with and about their culture and how you fit in. Now, just because you can wear anything doesn't mean everything has the same level of benefits for you. General Guidelines to keep in mind: The general advice to your wardrobe and if you want the biggest bang for your buck and the lowest cost per wear, I strongly suggest to not invest in shoes that fuse modern style and traditional style. Why you might wonder? Well, matching together formal and informal elements will mean it's a very trendy shoe and it may be great at the moment but it's just a fashion and a fad and it will disappear in just a few years of time. Now that you know a lot about business casual shoes, there are times when you should avoid wearing them and step up your shoe game and just be a little more formal. For example, think of important meetings with a board maybe with their most important client or the CEO who is known to be a clothes horse. In those situations, you definitely want to take it up a notch and put your best foot forward. In summary, the dress-code business casual is not easy to master when it comes to shoes because it can mean different things at different times at different companies, however, using the three-tier approach of formal environment, less formal environment, and casual environment, it can really help you to nail it and put your best foot forward. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? How A Mens Dress Shoe Should Fit & How To Find The Right Shoe Size Online & In Store

11:56
Tired of wearing ill-fitting shoes? https://gentl.mn/how-a-dress-shoe-should-fit This video is brought to you in collaboration with ACE MARKS maker of fine Italian Leather Dress Shoes under $300 https://www.acemarks.com/ *** Don't forget to use the code GENTLEMAN Determine your shoe size with Ace Marks: https://www.acemarks.com/size-guide In recent years, buying shoes online has become very popular. Originally, people thought "How can I buy a shoe that I've never tried on that actually fits properly?" The solution to that problem would be that every man out there gets a pair of bespoke shoes. The problem with that is it costs about $2,000 for one pair and it's simply not something the majority of men out there can afford. That's where off the rack shoes come into play; they're nicely finished on an elegant last with high-quality leather, hand polished and burnished, at just a fraction of what a bespoke shoe would cost you. So how do you find a pair of shoes that fits you really really well? In my opinion, the most important part for the fit of a shoe is the middle part. You want it to really fit snugly around your foot so it holds it in place even without you having to tie your shoelaces. At the same time, you want the front part of your foot to have enough room in the front and be neither too wide or too slim at the side. The perfect width of the last is the one that just hugs you without being too tight or too loose. Another important aspect of the fit of the shoe is the vamp. If there's too much space between the vamp and your foot, you'll easily see wrinkles in the leather and it's also more uncomfortable to walk in them. Finally, my pet peeve with most ready to wear shoes is the heel. Most shoe companies design it so it's very roomy and wide so it fits every kind of shoe, however, I find it's very important that it's very close to your heel because that way, it hugs it, you're not gonna slide out when you walk, and it's a lot more comfortable to wear a shoe that way. Also to keep the shoe in shape, you have caps in the front and in the back. Most of the time, heel caps are stiffer than the front caps and some are really stiff and uncomfortable. So if your heel doesn't fit a hundred percent in there, it's gonna hurt and you may end up with blisters. When a shoe is new and the leather is unstretched, you will likely see a slight v-shape in between the laces in an Oxford that should close overtime. Too much of V shape means that you need to last that's slightly bigger or maybe you just have a bigger foot. Now, if you have laces you can get away with a fit that is maybe just 90 or 95 percent versus if you go with a slip on or a loafer shoe such as this penny loafer from Ace Marks, you have to get a fit that is much better because you don't have laces that help you. So one little secret that you don't hear about very often is that when you remove the shoe and you get that sound like the release of a vacuum, that's a good indicator that you have a tight fit. So now that you know how a shoe should fit properly, how do you find the proper size? In the US, the most common sizing system is the Brannock system. You can find these metal sizers in shoe stores all across the US or you can buy them on Amazon for about 60 to 65 bucks. Now, most people don't have a device at home and because of that Ace Marks provides you with a letter-sized and a din a4 format shoe sizer that you can just print out at home. Once you have it though your heel must be on the line. I always suggest taking a big book put it down. That way you can't slide back when you stand there and then you take a pen and mark it slightly facing inward where your big toe is and that way you determine your size, do it on both feet and you know exactly what size you should get. What I like about Ace Marks is that their sizing conforms to the US Brannock system so it's all in line and if you know what your Brannock size is, you know Ace Marks is going to fit. #dressshoes #howashoeshouldfit #mensshoes --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHOP THE VIDEO: 1. $100 vs $500 Men's Dress Shoes - Hallmarks, Quality, Differences & Cost Per Wear Cheap vs Expensive

10:40
Learn all about the difference between $100, $200-400 and $500 Men's Dress Shoes For a more comprehensive guide, click here: https://gentl.mn/100-vs-500-usd-dress-shoes-men Two-Tone Knit Tie in Red and Navy Blue Changeant Silk: https://gentl.mn/2kZ4GZD Edelweiss Boutonniere: https://gentl.mn/2kdcEil #shoes #mensshoes #notsponsored We will discuss how you can tell the difference between quality and cheap shoes so you get only the best value for your money. QUALITY HALLMARKS OF SHOES: $100 shoes 1. Faux Stitching. It's simply glued and it's there merely decorative to make it look like a more expensive shoe but it's all glue. 2. Welt at the bottom. That is probably just a blake stitch or a blake rapid stitch. A composite material that is meant to look like leather. 3. Execution. More often than not, the stitching that you see at the top of the shoe is just injection molded so it's not a real stitch and it's simply meant to be deceitful. 4. Inferior Leather. Stiffer leather that is sanded and pigmented with dye to hide all the flaws. It creases very easily when you walk in it and will age very poorly. 5. Unrefined lasts. They can be a little chunky, have kind of a boxy toe, and overall wide so they fit every kind of foot. 6. Low quality interior. Manufacturers put all kinds of foam inside to make it feel nice and soft to the foot. The foam wears out quite quickly. 7. No color variations. You get black, brown, or tan, and that's about it! $200-$400 shoes 1. Blake construction and the blake rapid. These are also sewn but less expensive than goodyear welted. The advantage of blake construction is that you get a thinner sole that is softer. The disadvantage is that when you're outside, and it's wet, and it rains a lot, your feet may get wet. Also, the lack of cork in a blake construction shoe makes it less comfortable when you stand a lot or walk a lot. $500 shoes 1. High quality leather. Dyed all the way through. It has open pores that develop a patina over time. 2. Hand burnished finish from the factory that gets darker towards the toe. 3. Construction. In terms of construction, $500 shoes are almost exclusively goodyear welted that means, you have a welt here on the outside, and another welt that connects it in combination with the cork and sole which makes it much more comfortable to wear. 4. Heel caps and toe caps. Must be made of thermoplastic leather unlike cheaper shoes which are made of plastic. 5. Refined lasts. You also get a much better finishing in the details. 6. Variety of colors. Even if you have the nicest suits, a beautiful tie, a good shirt, and nice cuff links, cheap shoes will overall bring your outfit down. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? Loafer Shoes Guide For Men - Tassel, Penny, Gucci, Horsebit, Weejuns & Slip-on Slipper Explained

09:06
In this video, find out everything you need to know about Loafers. What constitutes a loafer, its different variations, how to style and when best to wear them. We discuss the Penny Loafer, Gucci or Horsebit Loafer, slip-ons and slippers, why they are technically not a loafer, weejuns, Alden, Tassels and more. Click here to get to the full Loafer Guide: http://gentl.mn/know-your-loafer #loafers #shoes #notsponsored Let me explain what a loafer is. In casual situations, a loafer can substitute any other shoe that you have may it be a canvas shoe or like a sandal or whatever. A loafer is: - a laceless shoe - it has an exposed ankle - it has a moccasin like welt or seam on top of the vamp - unlike mocs, it has a separate sole - has low heels A Slipper is: - like the loafer, it has an exposed ankle - NO lacing - NO seam on top A loafer has Norwegian origins. A Norwegian actually went to the US and saw the native american moccasins, brought them back to Norway, modified them slightly, added a separate sole and that's how the loafer was created. In general, Loafers are casual shoes because they're slip on and as such they're usually not worn with double breasted suits or more formal garments. The Duke of Windsor broke these classic rules of style and he would often wear a two-tone loafer in brown and white or off-white that he would wear with double breasted suits so by traditional style rules, this was completely wrong but he was so powerful and impactful that today, you can see people wearing loafers with different kinds of suits and double breasted suits. When it comes to loafer construction, most of the time you will see that it has a very thin sole, it's much thinner than a sole that you would see with a Goodyear welt shoe, that means they're usually Blake rapid stitched or just glued. If you have to walk a lot, definitely go with Goodyear welted loafers otherwise, Blake rapid stitched loafers are fine or blake stitched. Glued, I would probably personally say to stay away from it simply because it's usually an indicator of lower quality. LOAFER STYLES: - Wildsmith loafer (British invention) - Aurland Loafer - it is a town in Norway which was home to Nicoli Gregori who's the one who invented this Norwegian loafer style in the 40s and the 50s. - Tassel Loafer - features these dangling tassels. It has a very long last, it's flat and elegant. The original tassel loafer was invented by the Alden shoe company. - Penny Loafer - invented by G.H Bass in the US and it was really popular with people from the Ivy league who put pennies in this diamond shape just to stand out from the crowd. Particularly popular sometimes in cordovan leather or like a red color, you can also find it in suede. It comes in all shades of brown, sometimes spectators and it's just a really great casual shoe that people like to wear after work, maybe to resort towns, to more casual dinners, it's also very popular during the summer. - Gucci Loafer - has these characteristic horsebits on top and usually come in gold or in silver and they became so popular in the US. You can certainly consider adding it to your shoe closet because it's a timeless style and you should be able to wear it in 20 years from now and still look very classic and timeless. In terms of formality, loafers are overall more casual but I would rank the Tassel loafer slightly higher than the Penny loafer, Of course that is impacted by the choice of leather. A black penny loafer is more formal than a yellow, suede tassel loafer but given that colors and leather are equal, I would classify the penny loafer as slightly less formal. Nevertheless, it can be business appropriate, I think it looks great for example, with a chino-blazer combination. ======================================= To never miss any of our videos again, sign up here for free: http://gentl.mn/1VscrBD Want to see more videos? 30 Style Essentials Every Man Should Own By The Age of 30 | Darren Kennedy

04:17
I've rounded up 30 of the most important style essentials that every guy should have by the time he turns 30. A collection of wardrobe pieces that no man should be without. Here's the list: 1. The perfect white shirt Whether you’re wearing it under a three-piece suit or rolling the sleeves up and pairing with jeans, investing in a crisp, clasic white shirt is never a bad idea. 2. Jeans I’m stating the obvious here – every man needs at least one good pair of jeans, but you have to remember it’s all about fit. Say no to bootcut and flares and wave goodbye to spray-on skinny, these ones from Italian label Isaia are the perfect answer. 3. A ‘Good Shoe’ Your footwear choice can make or break an outfit, so it’s wise to spend some time and money sourcing the ideal option. These black A.P.C. brogues combine a classic style with modern design details. 4. A trench coat Donning a trench is the easiest way to inject some serious old-school style into any outfit – it’s an ageless classic. Take inspo from this Burberry beauty! 5. A grey suit Personally, I think a grey suit is the most versatile things a man can have in his wardrobe. It not only stands out in a sea of samey black suits, but it looks really good when worn as separates as well. 6. A double-breasted blazer I am a big fan of the double-breasted blazer and it should take pride of place in any man’s wardrobe – it’s not only worth investing in one because of its flattering fit, but it’s also timelessly stylish. Win-win! 7. The desert boot When it comes to the desert boot, no one does it better than the brand credited with skyrocketing its popularity – Clark’s. Their black suede offering is a wardrobe must-have that defies time and trends. 8. A raincoat This is an unquestionable, definite must-have. But that doesn’t mean you have to break out a mac-in-a-pac when it’s bucketing down. This option from Swedish label Stutterheim ensures that even on stormy days, you’re style cred remains intact. 9. A weekend bag There’s no point having a tightly edited wardrobe if you’re going to throw your carefully-selected garments into any old hold-all. This option from Want Les Essentiels is the perfect size for weekend getaways. Eye-catching and understatedly chic. 10. White runners There’s nothing better than box-fresh white trainers and they’re the perfect way to deconstruct a more formal outfit. Think of wearing your suit as separates and pairing your slim-fit grey trousers with a pair of classic Stan Smiths. 11. The Pea coat The power of the pea coat is not to be underestimated. Whether you’re seven or seventy, this is a style that doesn’t date. Opt for navy and wear with an all-black ensemble for a high-fashion, low maintenance look. 12. The white tee This one goes without saying, but I’m saying it anyway - a white t-shirt can form the base for a whole plethora of sartorial choices. Think slim-fit, but not Geordie Shore-style tight! 13. Sunglasses A style statement that hides a multitude. If you’ve an early morning after a late night, a killer pair of shades are absolutely essential to cover those puffy eyes. 14. A chambray shirt The chambray shirt has long been a wardrobe staple for both men and women and this updated version from J. Crew gives a modern twist with it’s double pocket detail and contrasting white stitching. 15. Swimming shorts Like with everything you wear, fit is crucial, so think about getting a pair with waist adjustors or side fasteners. 16. A denim jacket Without doubt an essential wardrobe item but doubling up your denim can be tricky. If in doubt, style your denim jacket with black jean or chinos. 17. A wash bag Don’t let yourself down with a grubby old wash bag. This one from Hook Line & Sinker at John Lewis opens out to reveal a host of hidden pockets to separately store all of your grooming supplies. 18. Kiehl’s Facial Fuel I swear by this stuff and the great thing about this moisturiser is that it is caffeine and vitamin-enriched in a non-oily formula, so it simultaneously invigorates the skin whilst preventing shine. 19. A bomber jacket The perfect transitional wardrobe staple – light enough for the oncoming spring months and always great for layering. This version from AMI combines utilitarian practicality with eye-catching detail. 20. Cufflinks 21. The watch 22. A good razor 23. A backpack 24. The Breton stripe 25. Chelsea boots 26. A slim black belt 27. A go-to sweater 28. A casual blazer 29. A grandfather collar shirt 30. Chelsea Boots Guide | The Classic Men's Boot Explained

09:12
Learn all you need to know about the Chelsea boots. Find out its history, what you should look for when you buy a pair, how you combine them plus its quality hallmarks and characteristics. Click here to get to the full Chelsea Boot Guide: http://gentl.mn/all-about-chelsea-boots Today's video is all about Chelsea boots. I'll discuss what you should look for when you buy a pair, how you combine them plus the hallmarks and characteristics. Basically, everything you need to know about this wonderful boot. First, let's start with the history of the Chelsea boot. It was originally invented by J Sparkes hall who's boot maker to Queen Victoria. He came up with the idea to use vulcanized rubber to have something flexible at the ankle and it would make them easy to put the boots on and take them off. What makes a Chelsea boot a Chelsea boot? - The Chelsea boot has ankle length and it's not below, it's not above, it's right at ankle height. - It has rounded toes and low heels -No lacing It's simply a boot that you pull on using loops, it's important that you have a rather tight fit in the foot and as well as the heel. You want it to be quite tight and so you have to fit in, it has to fit snugly and tightly. The flexible rubber part was invented by J. Sparkes Hall, it always had this kind of U shape, it never goes all the way to the bottom, there's always some leather underneath, sometimes you'll find it to be a bit shorter but generally, it comes in a contrasting color. If you want to buy a pair of Chelsea boots, what should you pay attention to? It's the most important that you get the fit right. There are no shoelaces, chances are that you slip out with your heel, it should fit really snugly. Over time the elastic will expand. Never just rely on standard sizing. The upper should always be made of box calf leather, sometimes it's popular with men to actually have it in a suede which is usually also calf suede leather. If you live in a rainy environment, it's not good to have suede, go with regular leather and make sure that it's a darker color because the Chelsea boot works well with suits. Traditional Chelsea boots have leather soles and are Goodyear welted but if you live in a rainy area, you definitely want boots with a rubber sole. Usually, I suggest to have a leather sole and then with an applied rubber sole simply because you still get that elegant thin sole look with the practicality of rubber soles. Chelsea boots are a wonderful all around boot, it's great to start with them because they can be worn with formal outfits and more casual ones. If you have a pair of black Chelsea boots, it goes particularly well with charcoal suits, grey suits and mid grey suits and any type of business wear. Some people also wear it chinos or like a blazer combination. If you want to go more casual with your Chelsea boots, I suggest you get a pair in tan or grey or blue and you can really mix it up with denim, with chinos, with other kinds of corduroy pants and just combine it in any way you like basically. Adding a color to your insert will certainly help to make it even more stand out and unique. If you like broguing, you can have them with broguings but if it's your first pair if Chelsea boots, I suggest you stir clear of them. Just get a plain Chelsea boot with rubber inserts. Sometimes you find Chelsea boots that are rather bulky and especially the toe box is very big and round, it makes it more look like a work boot or an extremely casual boot like a substitute for a cowboy boot or something like that but if you want a classic style, I suggest you go with a rounded toe box that is flat which makes it more elegant and timeless and refined. If you now want to know where you can buy high quality Chelsea boots, please check out our guide because I list different kinds of Chelsea boots that I've tested, good manufacturers, they are really worth your money and they will work for you. ======================================= To never miss any of our videos again, sign up here for free: http://gentl.mn/1Ty0vOH Want to see more videos? How To Wear Men’s Boots 101 - 5 Best Boot Styles: Chukka, Chelsea, Jodhpur, Balmoral & Winter Boots

09:47
For our full-fledged written guide, click here: https://gentl.mn/boots-for-men-styles-and-mistakes #bootsformen #notsponsored #mensboots Get the accessories I'm wearing: Two-Tone Knit Tie in Black and Magenta Pink Changeant Silk: https://gentl.mn/2kdcO9i Ivory Silk-Wool Pocket Square with Hunting Motifs:https://gentl.mn/2lyQaUV Unfortunately, there's not one boot that works for everybody because we all have different needs and preferences. 1.Chukka boot or desert boot A great boot for students. You can invest in one pair of boots and it works with a lot of combinations. It's also a fantastic boot for men who like to wear denim or jeans. It's a boot that pairs well with corduroys when it's cold outside during fall & winter, or with khakis when it's warmer outside. I suggest you go with a dark brown, a choco brown, or a mid brown because it's most versatile. If you wear a lot of suits, it's not the boot for you because it's very suited to casual outfits. 2. Jodhpur boots. Personally, I like them a lot because they have a very clean, elegant silhouette yet, they have some history. The characteristic of Jodhpurs is the buckle and it goes around. I think it works really well with casual suits, flannel suits, and sport coat combinations. You can also pair it with a leather jacket or jeans, or chinos. Because there's no broguing and it's a flat boot, you can also pair them with a regular suit. It's great for men who like clean, classic, elegant lines and you don't just want to buy a boot anybody else has. Ideally, a mid brown or something lighter, maybe tan, works best and it's most versatile. If you're in a hurry and you don't have the time to buckle the boot every time and take it off, it's not a boot you should go for. 3. Chelsea boots A timeless classic because they have that insert and it's easily recognizable especially if you have a colored insert just like here. They're perfect for men who look for a convenient, easy slip on version of the boot. Even though they're quick to put on, they are super elegant and classy and don't look sloppy at all. They're also great for eccentrics because you can add green, red, or blue inserts that really give you a personal note. I believe every man should have at least one Chelsea boot in their wardrobe because they are so timeless, versatile, and easy to use. 4. Balmoral boot It's a classic dress boot that works well with formal outfits. It's basically the choice of elegant gentlemen who want something like an oxford shoe as a boot version. It's a fantastic boot if you have lots of formal outfits in charcoal, navy, and grey. It's also fantastic with three-piece suits or you can wear it with a morning coat, or with a stroller suit. I suggest you start with black with black suede insert. If you are more advanced, you can have a contrasting insert in beige or buff or off-white and if you have that, you can move on to something in brown, burgundy, or other colors. 5. Winter boots If you live in a climate where it gets close to freezing outside, you need winter boots. They may just look like regular boots but they have a wonderful fur lining. With fur, I usually mean sheepskin or lamb skin. It's quite plush and insulating and cozy warm especially if you're outside a lot when it gets cold. Boat Shoe Guide - How To Wear Deck Shoes, Break Them In & Mistakes To Avoid

09:48
See our comprehensive guide to BOAT SHOES here: http://gentl.mn/boat-shoes-guide #boatshoes #notsponsored #gentlemansgazette In the early 1930's, Paul Sperry looked at his dog and was surprised that he had an amazing amount of grip on the ice. Upon closer inspection of the dog's pads on his feet, he realized that there was a slight herringbone pattern. Intrigued by this pattern, Paul started actually carving a herringbone pattern into his shoes and voila!, he had more grip. The process of getting the ridges in your shoe soles is also known as siping. This concept is actually invented in 1923 by John F. Sipe. In 1935, the first Sperry Topsider boat shoe or deck shoe was introduced to the market and it was a mid-brown shoe with mid-brown leather laces and that was the birth of the boat shoe as you know it today. BOAT SHOE CHARACTERISTICS - The traditional boat shoe came in brown, but today, you can find all kinds of colors. Basically any other color under the sun. - In terms of leather, boat shoes are made with a water repellent finish such as the chromexcel from Horween. - An important feature of the traditional boat shoe is that it's hand-sewn so you can see hand sewing all along. - It has the moccasin toe construction which is also sewn by hand though today, sometimes, they're sewn by machine. - Boat shoes, traditionally, feature a 360-degree lacing system - Most boat shoes in the market will feature two rows of aglet. - In order for it to be a boat shoe, it has to have white soles In theory, the thin ridges are better for a deck and these are better for streetwear. In practice, I haven't noticed much difference between the thin ridges and the thick ridges. The Subject of heated debate is whether you should wear boat shoes with or without socks. Most people wear them barefoot especially when you're in a setting on a deck or a boat simply because you have a better grip and it suits the original style. of course, when it's a little cooler outside and you're not in that setting, you can wear socks with them. If you're concerned that your feet sweat too much, simply get a cotton insert or you can also go with these socks that you don't see and then you have the best of both worlds. So, when should you wear boat shoes and when should you avoid them? - Boat shoes are best paired with slim jeans or pants, khakis, chinos, or slacks. - Boat shoes are a big step-up from sneakers, and they also work well with denim and jeans in darker tones or also white. They look particularly good at that setting if you combine them with a polo shirt. - Can be worn with Oxford cloth button-down shirt because it just fits that whole east-coast type heritage of the shoe. - Overall, it's a shoe that's great for the beach or the lake and any other casual setting. - Great for traveling. When you buy a new pair of boat shoes, sometimes the leather can be very hard and you have to break them in. The easiest way to do that is to get into the shoe, tighten it, and then make it really wet so the leather can conform to your foot and dry that way. If you don't want to do that, simply wear them a few times on short distances to avoid blistering. So, how do you take care of your boat shoes? - Ideally, use an emulsion based shoe polish, either in that color or in neutral, like the one here. It's important to use those because they soak into the leather. - I find these turpentine wax paste a little too much, I only use them very rarely because they add a layer of water proofing but if you only use them, you see cracks and it's simply too much for the leather and the look is not as good. - If you're in a dusty environment, they get dirty very quickly. In that case, I suggest you use a toothbrush and some water and some saddle soap to clean the shoes. It will last you longer and develop a nice patina if you keep them dirt free. - Once they're wet, either through rain or because you washed them, make sure to dry them but in a natural setting. - Just like any other shoe, you should use a shoe horn to put them on, it will help you to keep the heel in shape. - If you get stains in your boat shoes, try to use a little bit of vinegar and water and rub on it. Now that you know how to treat your shoes, what to pick, what to go for, the question arises of where to buy your boat shoes? Please do check out our guide for brand recommendations. ======================================= To never miss any of our videos again, sign up here for free: https://gentl.mn/1TQUPfa Want to see more videos? Pros & Cons of Buying Vintage Clothing

13:45
Benefits & Drawbacks of buying vintage clothing: https://gentl.mn/vintage-buying-guide Want to stay updated? Sign up here for free: https://gentl.mn/2F4OH49 Want to see more videos? Subscribe to our channel! https://www.youtube.com/user/thegentlemansgazette --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gentleman's Gazette https://www.gentlemansgazette.com/ https://gentl.mn/2UA3ri8 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/gentlemansgazette FREE EBOOK: https://gentl.mn/2F4OH49 #vintagebuying #vintageclothing #notsponsored A Comprehensive breakdown of the pros and cons of buying vintage menswear starting first with the positives.: Firstly, you'll be able to find garments in styles that aren't commonly produced or available any more. If you do find garments like these, they'll allow you to stand out even from other well-dressed men. Next, prices are often just a fraction of what you would pay for something new especially if you're shopping in places like Goodwill, for example. Also, our founder, Sven Raphael Schneider has had good luck purchasing things at European flea markets especially in the off seasons. Also, vintage garments can generally be tailored just as easily as something new. This depends on the individual garment of course and whether it's got excess fabric to let out or remove. In a similar vein, older methods of clothing construction were often more durable both in terms of the raw materials used and in the detail of human construction. Another plus by shopping at a consignment store or similar establishment, you'll be supporting your local economy rather than some giant corporation. In a similarly conscious frame of mind, buying vintage garments is a particularly green way to shop since you're essentially recycling old garments and giving them a new lease on life. Here's another cost-conscious point about vintage, you might not actually have to buy at all. For example, if you've got older relatives who are looking to downsize their wardrobes, family heirlooms like watches, for example, or friends who just know that you're on the lookout for vintage items, you might be able to come up with some vintage finds at no cost to you. Finally in the positives category, buying and wearing vintage provides a great conversation starter for those who might be especially curious about what you're wearing. So as you can see, there are a lot of potential positives when shopping for vintage menswear. With that said though, you should also be aware that there can be some potential downsides: Firstly, you might not always find the size you need especially if you're a larger man in terms of both height and weight. The average man has just gotten bigger around the world in the last 100 years. As such, if you're looking for vintage garments, you might not always find something in your size. On a similar sizing note, tags and labels on vintage garments can be misleading as sizes for certain types of garments have changed somewhat over the last 100 years or so. Here's a drawback you may already have thought of, some vintage clothing may have issues with odors, stains, or other damage, however, even if this is the case, there are workarounds available to you. Speaking of damage, though that is another potential downside, if you do damage a vintage piece irreparably or lose it for that matter, you might not be able to find another one quite like it. That old item you found might truly be one-of-a-kind at this point or at least rare enough to basically be such. Now regarding pricing, while many vintage shops and online retailers will often be offering things for great prices, there is the occasional chance that a seller might be trying to overcharge you after all. And while the online space is becoming more crowded, physical storefronts are becoming a bit more scarce. So if you'd like to go that route, you'll probably have to put in a bit of additional time to scout out locations in your area. Another potential downside to physical locations is that they may sometimes have poor fitting room conditions. The lighting may be substandard and you might not find a three-way mirror so in other words, you might not get the best look at how a garment fits you from all angles. And perhaps the biggest drawback many vintage sellers whether online or in-store will often have no returns policy or a very limited one. Taking all of these factors into consideration then, the required effort may ultimately result in you falling prey to the so-called this will do phenomenon. There will always be other vintage finds out there that will suit you better.

Use Windex to clean your patent leather shoes.Because of the mirror finish of the leather, you'll get a nice shine and you remove any scuffs. 00:48 Tie your shoelaces so they never come undone. Basically, you want your knot to be horizontal so whenever you walk, your knot becomes tighter and not looser. 01:06 Use ice cubes to get wrinkles out of dress shirts. You put your dryer on high, you throw in your shirt along with a handful of ice cubes. The steam that is generated from the ice cubes will release the wrinkles and you get a shirt that's basically wrinkle-free. 01:27 Keep your shirt collar stiff with a belt while travelling, First, you roll up your belt to the side of your shirt collar. Second, you simply insert it into the shirt collar. 01:48 Sharpen your cartridge razor blades on a pair of denim. Put one layer of denim on a flat surface such as a table, then take your cartridge razor and go against the cutting motion. 02:12 Open a wine bottle with shoelaces. Tie a nut in the shoelace just once, make sure it's thick enough, then take a pointy object, just a file or a knife, put it here, and then shove it through the cork into the bottle. Once it's at the bottom and it's come out, you simply take the shoelace and pull out the cork. 02:41 It's basically an un-hack because you use a clothes brush. It takes out the dust, it helps to prevent any moth bites, and you don't have to bring it to the dry cleaner that often. 03:16 Use your neck to figure out if pants will fit. All you do is you take the pair of pants by the waist, throw it around your neck and make sure that it touches at the end. 03:38 Use baby powder to remove oil stains. 03:55 No bottle opener? no problem! You can always open your beer with another bottle. 04:10 Use clear nail polish to prevent a button from coming off. Put a dab on the top of the button, over the thread so it won't come off and the next time you have the chance, you can simply replace it. 04:30 Use stale bread to clean suede shoes. The staler the bread, the better the result. Of course, you don't want anything moldy on your shoe. 04:49 Stretch tight shoes in the freezer. 05:08 Rub deodorant on your feet so you prevent chaffing and blisters and foot odor. 05:25 Remove red wine stains with white wine. 05:37 Use lemon juice to prevent sweat stains. 05:49 Use a paper clip as a collar stay. 06:02 Add salt to ice to cool things down instantly. 06:19 Use a hair straightener to iron your collar or other things. Especially when you're travelling. 06:37 Stuff socks in your shoes while travelling. 06:47 Use a pin or a safety pin on the back of your lapel. 06:55. Repurpose old pantyhose to polish your shoes. 07:16 Use Conditioner in Place of Shaving Cream. 07:20 Get rid of smelly shoes with lemon peel. 07:32 Use a urinal without any backsplash. 07:43 Protect your goods at the beach. 08:07 Use soda can tabs to use one hanger after another if you are out of space. 08:34 Put in a corkscrew at a slight angle, you get the cork out without any mess and issues. 08:52 Use a clothes pin to hold a nail while hammering . 09:05 Fill a 1qt Bag with 50ml Liquor Bottles for a Personal Cocktail Bar While Flying. 09:09 Use a zip lock bag to protect your cigars from drying out. 09:27 Pour cheap vodka through your water filter to make it more palatable. 09:50 Gargle whisky mixed with water to relieve a sore throat. 10:10 Use drip drop to prevent hangovers. 10:31 Use wine boxes to store your off-season shoes. if you have any life hacks, please get in touch with us here! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Want to stay updated? 5 Dress Shoes Every Man Must Have - What Leather Men's Shoes To Buy

00:44
This video was offered to you in collaboration with SIR Shoes. SIR Shoes could customise any kind of styles that you like. Just get in touch with them. They are the most solid, flexible, highly-skilled shoes-maker that I have come across in a long time. Most importantly - their prices are extremely accessible specifically for the top quality service standards that they supply: https://luxury-authority.com/collections/men-shoes CODE: gentleman2018 Make certain to use the code "gentleman2018" to get a much better deal! Interested in footwear? Take a look at: https://luxury-authority.com/collections/men-shoes By the way, every one of the shoes you can see below are from SIR Shoes, a distributor of handcrafted Italian males's formal footwear. We liked them since they are hand made and they give a great value with some under under $300. I've had their shoes in my wardrobe from the start and I liked them quite a bit due to the fact that they fit me extremely well. One, the black oxford. Why should you purchase this shoe? It's an all-time standard, especially as a captoe. You can use it for interview, you could use it to the funeral, and also you could wear it for any type of formal event out there. Also, unlike brown, black comes simply in one shade and so you do not have to purchase dozens of black shoes however this one is truly a staple that you must have. So how do you put on a black oxford? You can use it with two-piece matches, three-piece out-fits, particularly in navy, charcoal, and also grey, and also any company proper suit. It's also excellent with sports jackets, perhaps a navy sports jacket with gray slacks or you could wear it with your tuxedo for Black Tie occasions, your dinner coat, additionally, for formal outfit. The 2nd shoe design I would certainly buy if I began all over again is the Brown Derby full brogue wingtip or perhaps completely plain. So why would we opt for this shoe? Well, first of all, a Derby is much less official than an Oxford. The Derby has an open lacing system and also as a result of that, it's more adaptable so when your feet are weary and they swell or get bigger, it's a much more comfy shoe compared to an Oxford. Because of that, I like it for travels. I would certainly select a medium brown color such as this antique brownish cognac from SIR Shoes; it's really flexible as well as since they are hand polished and hand burnished, you see different tones of brownish at the tip of the footwear. The 3rd footwear design I 'd invest in is slip-on. Why a loafer? Well essentially, it's a slip-on shoe, it's laid-back, it's a completely different design from the other two, yet it's a timeless classic. It's really simple to dress up or down as well as they are available in different variations; you can have tassel slip-ons and also often people assume they're old-fashioned yet you can actually have them rather young looking and contemporary. However if you don't like that, go with a penny loafer. They're called that way since you used to be able to place a little penny style in the front opening. For convenience, I would certainly select a various shade in brown than what you chose for your Derby wingtip. The fourth shoe style I 'd purchase is a dual monk strap in a reddish or brown shade since it's very flexible, it's fashionable, as well as it's young, and also it's simply different compared to all the various other shoes that you currently have in your closet. This model from SIR Shoes can be found in a brandy antique Brown which indicates it was hand refined and also hand burnished to attain different color tones. The 5th shoe style I would invest in is a half brogue Oxford in a medium brownish. Below I have a SIR Shoes shoe in a lighter antique tan which is once again different to all the other brown tones in my closet. It has a captoe with wonderful broguing, a medallion, and it's less informal compared to the full wingtip Derby footwear. I'm adding it to the collection because it's in between the a lot more official Oxford and the even more laid-back Derby. It fits right in between due to the fact that it doesn't have a wingtip. So if you buy these 5 footwear styles, you really have an incredibly versatile outfit footwear storage room.

The basic idea for this age group is casual layering. Definitely, skip the baseball cap, it makes you look immature. Instead, if you want to wear a hat, maybe consider a flat cap in the fall winter season. As layering is very important in your age group, I suggest you go with sweaters because they keep you warm in the winter, they add a little book to your build which easily comes off as muscles, and they keep you warm If you are up for a cardigan, you can even take it off if it's too hot and that makes it very flexible, casual but well-dressed. MID 20S If you’re in a sales position or if you're in a white-collar profession, you will definitely need a lot more suits than one. If you're not, I suggest to invest more in combinations. Maybe of a blazer would be a great first garment to start and overall, I suggest you check out our guide on the 10 clothing items that every man should have because that's the foundation of your wardrobe that will last you a lifetime and you'll get a lot of wear out of it because it's very versatile and flexible. The mid-20s or mid or late thirties A great wardrobe staple is probably Oxford shirt, especially with a button-down collar. It's something that you can still wear either casually or combined with a jacket or suit. Polo shirts are nice if you maybe want to play golf or hang out with your children on the weekend but they're not something you should wear to the office, not even on casual Fridays. The mid-40s to about 65 Instead of using bolder colors to differentiate your outfit, I suggest to go with different textures and especially subtle patterns. You can go with window panes instead of solids, herringbones not just finer but bigger, maybe a classic Prince of Wales check that is larger in black and white that goes well with your gray hair. These are all things that can really help you develop an outfit that is very age appropriate yet very stylish. 65 and up If you're 65 and up, you're likely retired or you're looking forward to retirement. You either spend your days on a golf course or hang out with friends playing cards, working at the woodshop, and at that stage of your life, the degree of formality goes down. Now is the time to add sweaters back into your wardrobe, maybe skip the blazer unless you really like to dress up, however, one thing I notice a lot is that men change their physique yet the Wardrobe remains the same and it sometimes makes them look quite dated. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Want to stay updated? It's an all-time standard, especially as a captoe. You can wear it for business, you can wear it to the funeral, and also you can use it for any kind of kind of formal occasion out there. Likewise, unlike brown, black comes simply in one shade and so you do not have to buy dozens of black shoes however this one is truly a staple that you have to have. The second shoe design I would certainly buy if I began all over again is the Brown Derby full brogue wingtip or even totally plain. So why would we opt for this footwear? Well, to start with, a Derby is less formal compared to an Oxford. The Derby has an open lacing system and also as a result of that, it's more versatile so when your feet are weary and they swell or get bigger, it's a more comfy shoe than an Oxford. Because of that, I like it for travels. I would select a medium brown shade such as this antique brown cognac from SIR Shoes; it's very functional and because they are hand polished as well as hand burnished, you see various shades of brown at the tip of the shoe. Well primarily, it's a slip-on footwear, it's casual, it's a totally different design from the other two, yet it's a timeless classic. It's truly simple to dress up or down as well as they come in different variants; you can have tassel loafers and also occasionally individuals believe they're old-fashioned yet you can really have them rather young looking and contemporary. But if you don't like that, opt for a penny loafer. They're called this way because you used to be able to place a little penny style in the front opening. For versatility, I would certainly choose a different color in brownish compared to what you chose for your Derby wingtip. The fourth footwear design I would certainly purchase is a double monk strap in a reddish or brown color since it's extremely flexible, it's fashionable, as well as it's young, and also it's simply different compared to all the other shoes that you currently have in your wardrobe. This version from SIR Shoes is available in a brandy antique Brown which implies it was hand refined and hand burnished to accomplish various color tones. The fifth footwear design I would certainly buy is a half brogue Oxford in a medium brown. Right here I have a SIR Shoes footwear in a lighter antique tan which is once more different compared to all the other brown tones in my wardrobe. It has a captoe with nice broguing, a medallion, and also it's less casual than the complete wingtip Derby footwear. I'm including it to the collection because it's in between the much more formal Oxford and the even more laid-back Derby. It fits right between since it does not have a wingtip. So if you invest in these five footwear styles, you genuinely have an exceptionally flexible gown footwear storage room.

Men's Dress Socks Guide - Sock Quality Hallmarks & Etiquette

09:10
All you need to know about Men's Dress Socks -https://gentl.mn/dress-socks-for-you Want socks that don't slide down? Get them here https://www.gentlemansgazette.com/shop/accessories/socks?utm_campaign=social-lead-gen&utm_medium=video&utm_source=youtube&utm_content=dress-socks-video&utm_term=youtube-description During the 17th century, socks became affordable for regular families but of course, they could only afford the rough, homespun yarn, woolen socks whereas the aristocracy would have fine silk or cotton socks. Socks started to be knitted on machines. First, socks were actually knitted on a machine that was flat, once the knitting process was finished, it was put onto a wooden foam such as here then it was sewn together and that's why you sometimes see these seams in the back of socks in old movies because it was purely functional. In fact, the Cri de la Soie knit ties we offer from Fort Belvedere are knitted on old sock machines that were repurposed to be used with silk and so you create these knit ties. Over time, somebody had the idea to create a round knitting machine so socks wouldn't have the seam that could be uncomfortable. Initially, it only had 72 needles but over time, machines got more and more refined and today, the finest machines have 280 needles, this results into an extremely fine sock and when you use yarns like silk and cotton, you get this sheer look that is one of a kind and simply the finest sock in the world. If you're into this kind of stuff or if you want a nice black tie sock, you can check it out in our shop here. One, it's really important that your dress sock stays up at all times. The number one reason for a sock to stay up is its length. It simply needs to be over the calf. If it's like mid-calf or a little shorter or ankle length or even shorter, it simply won;t work and will slide down. The other aspect you want to pay attention to is the elastic. You want it to be long and not just slim because otherwise, it may constrict your blood flow and wear uncomfortably. It also helps to avoid all kinds of gimmicks such as sock suspenders or braces. It's important to go with natural fibers, ideally, hundred percent natural fiber blends such as cotton, wool, silk or cashmere, simply because these fibers absorb moisture more than nylon or any other artificial fibers and they make you sweat less. A high-quality material also feels very comfortable on your skin and it will last for a while. In areas such as the elastic on top, you need artificial materials because there's just no elastic natural material that would work well. Also, in your heel, where socks wear the most, you want some elastic material as well as in the toe area. Other than that, stay clear of blended socks. If you have a foot in size 6, you'll need a different sock than somebody who has size 13, that's simply unavoidable, therefore, when you buy over the calf socks, it is important that you get the size that is made for your foot. Most men aren't even aware that you can buy socks in several sizes but once you've worn a pair that is actually the right size of your foot, you never go back. That is why we offer 4 sizes at Fort Belvedere that cover 98% of all men. A dress sock is meant to be worn with suits, combinations, tuxedos or white tie outfits and as such, you want it to be elegant and thin. You don't want a hand knit sock that's very thick and rough that may be great for casual events or in cold winters . For a suit, you want a thin, elegant material, that means, it was knitted in a machine with a high number of needles such as 200 needles, 240 and 280. As a general rule, you'd always match them to your pants or your trousers. Never to your shoe. That's just the main, basic rule but beyond that, there are a lot more ways that you can match your socks and a proper way. #socks #dresssocks #notsponsored ======================================= To never miss any of our videos again, sign up here for free: https://gentl.mn/23cIHcO Want to see more videos? Chinos & Khaki Pants Guide For Men

08:30
See our full guide here: https://gentl.mn/Chinos-Khakis-Guide In a nutshell, khakis are khaki colored, cotton twill pants. Chinos are a bit dressier than khakis and they come in other colors such as navy, sand, Nantucket red, or baby blue. Today, the two terms are often used interchangeably even though there are slight differences. First off, let's talk about the history of khaki pants. Khakis have an Indian heritage. In 1848, the corps of guides wore it as part of their uniform in India. In the 19th century, a British military had realized that their scarlet red uniforms looked really great, but it also made them easily visible to their enemies and so they realized it was time for a change. The uniforms also soiled very easily whereas the dust-colored pants of the Indian uniforms never looked dirty. The word khaki is derived from Hindi and means as much as dust-colored or soil colored which explains the perfect name for the khaki pants. For the same reason, khaki pants today are still within a spectrum of dust and sand-colored, never anything else. Enamored with the looks of khaki pants, the British military adopted it as part of their uniform for the Mahdist War and the second world war. Quality hallmarks of khaki pants: 1. They come in flat front styles and pleated styles. If you have thin legs, flat front may look very pleasing, whereas if you have bigger thighs, a pleated khaki gives you more room and is more comfortable and looks better. 2. Made from cotton twill material and it's very sturdy and they're very tight weave so it's not very breathable. It's very popular with big companies such as target or best buy and they usually mix polyester or other artificial fibers to the cotton to make them more sturdy. If you want to wear them as dress pants or as casual pants, I suggest you stick with 100% cotton, they're more comfortable on your skin and you'll sweat less. They don't wrinkle as much as regular cotton. 3. Traditionally, they always have belt loops and never suspender buttons. They're very easy to take care of, you don't have to bring them to the dry cleaner, you can just launder them in your washing machine. They match really well with polo shirts, long sleeve or short sleeve. You can wear them with dress shirts such as button down colored shirts, even regular dress shirts that you wear unbuttoned but you can even wear a tie with them and a blazer. Quality hallmarks of Chinos Chino is derived from China, which is where the pants were made really popular. Ultimately, they were a little dressier than khakis but today, they're basically the same thing. The big difference with chinos is the color variety. 1. Chinos come in different colors. Navy, light blue, Nantucket red, or sand, you can even add light pastel colors in green or yellow. 2. Chinos have belt loops, zip fly, can have pleats, and usually have cuffs. Of course, you don't need turn ups or cuffs and sometimes they come without them. Personally, I like them because they add a little more weight and it means the pants fall more nicely and drape more beautifully. How should you wear and combine khakis and chinos? Personally, I love to wear them in a more casual setting with boat shoes, without socks and a polo shirt, however, you can also wear them with a dress shirt, always wear a belt, ideally some brown shoes and in terms of style, I would say a derby, a monk, loafer, or even a pair of boots look really well. If you want something darker, go with a dark brown, burgundy, oxblood red shoe color. In terms of shirt fabrics, you can go with solids, you can pair it with Bengal stripes which are wider stripes, finer stripes, small checks, just what I'm wearing right now. You can also wear oxford cloth button down shirts which is great because of the 2 tone look of the fabric and it works well with khakis because they share the casual nature of the garment. #chinos #khakis #notsponsored _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Most Popular videos: How to accept a compliment - https://youtu.be/_EKXNmM1PUo 101 things that change when you dress up - https://youtu.be/JyGDd_iYaCI How to tie a Bow Tie - https://youtu.be/2I3cfa0BOOc _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Want to stay updated? Intrigued in footwear? Check out: https://luxury-authority.com/collections/men-shoes By the way, all of the footwear you could see below are from SIR Shoes, a supplier of handmade Italian males's dress shoes. We liked them because they are hand burnished and they supply a great value with some under under $300. I've had their footwear in my wardrobe from the beginning and I liked them a fair bit due to the fact that they fit me extremely well. One, the black oxford. Why should you purchase this shoe? It's an all-time classic, specifically as a captoe. You could use it for business, you can wear it to the funeral, and you could use it for any sort of official occasion out there. Additionally, unlike brownish, black comes just in one shade therefore you don't have to purchase dozens of black shoes but this one is truly a staple that you have to have. So just how do you wear a black oxford? You can use it with two-piece fits, three-piece out-fits, specifically in navy, charcoal, as well as grey, and also any type of work proper suit. It's likewise great with sports jackets, possibly a navy sports jacket with grey pants or you could wear it with your coat for Black Tie events, your dinner jacket, additionally, for formal outfit. The 2nd shoe design I 'd buy if I started all over once again is the Brown Derby full brogue wingtip or perhaps totally plain. So why would we choose this shoe? Well, first of all, a Derby is much less official compared to an Oxford. The Derby has an open lacing system and because of that, it's even more adaptable so when your feet are tired and they swell or get bigger, it's a much more comfortable footwear compared to an Oxford. Because of that, I like it for traveling. I would certainly choose a medium brown shade such as this antique brown brandy from SIR Shoes; it's extremely flexible and because they are hand polished as well as hand burnished, you see various tones of brown at the tip of the shoe. The third shoe style I would certainly buy is slip-on. Why slip-on? Well essentially, it's a slip-on shoe, it's laid-back, it's a totally different style from the other two, yet it's a timeless classic. It's really simple to dress up or down and also they come in different variants; you could have tassel slip-ons and also occasionally individuals assume they're old-fashioned yet you could really have them quite young looking and contemporary. However if you don't like that, select a penny loafer. They're called that way because you used to be able to place a little penny style in the front opening. For flexibility, I would certainly choose a different shade in brownish compared to what you picked for your Derby wingtip. The 4th shoe design I would certainly invest in is a dual monk band in a reddish or brown color since it's really functional, it's elegant, and also it's young, and it's simply different compared to all the other footwear that you already have in your closet. This version from SIR Shoes is available in a brandy antique Brown which means it was hand refined as well as hand burnished to attain different color tones. The fifth shoe design I would buy is a half brogue Oxford in a medium brown. Right here I have a SIR Shoes footwear in a lighter antique tan which is again different to all the other brownish tones in my closet. It has a captoe with nice broguing, a medallion, as well as it's less informal than the full wingtip Derby shoe. I'm adding it to the collection because it's an in-between the extra formal Oxford and the more informal Derby. It fits right between due to the fact that it does not have a wingtip. So if you invest in these five footwear designs, you absolutely have an exceptionally versatile dress footwear wardrobe.
