Corporations are seeking relentlessly for product leaders who can utilize AI technologies on their products and services to improve the company’s bottom line or top line. It's called the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and it is happening right here, right now. However, as a Product Manager, how do you gain the necessary knowledge to analyze, understand, plan, and design products based on artificial intelligence technologies? Since you cannot get a college degree in AI Product Management, how do you adapt to this rapid change? Adnan helped answer these questions. Adnan Boz is the co-founder of Move to Ai consulting and former Yahoo! Product Manager. Currently, he is helping mid-size businesses to integrate artificial intelligence into their processes; aka cognification. In the past two decades and lately during his work at Yahoo! The Secret to Great Product Management

02:58
This video features Tom Evans, a Senior Consultant and Trainer with 280 Group who has over 25 years of Product Management experience and helped develop the Optimal Product Process framework. http://280.gr/2hn8sfp Today Tom will give his input on one secret to great Product Management. The one key above all others, to being a great Product Manager, is to develop a market expertise. Developing a market expertise can basically be divided in to three pieces. The first part of creating market expertise, and thus great Product Management, is to really understand your customers. The second bit is to fully understand your competition. The third aspect of the great Product Management secret, which more or less ties this all together, is to understand the industry. By understanding that level of detail as a market expert, enables you to communicate your vision, and to gain buy-in from the other stakeholders within the organization. That’s where you really gain your respect as a Product Manager, is developing that market expertise. Download our free Product Management resources here: http://280.gr/2hSR5Ae

Greg Cohen is a Lean Product Management expert and author of multiple best-selling Product Management books such as Agile Excellence for Product Managers. He is also on the 280 Group staff as a consultant/trainer and today he is answering the question: What is Lean Product Management? On the surface this seems to be a simple question but of course the answer is not so easy, as Lean Product Management is a complex topic. Greg is able to basically define Lean Product Management as a a mindset that Product Managers use to get value to market rapidly. Since 2008, experts such as Greg have been evolving and codifying Lean Product Management techniques and have found that when teams use the techniques properly, they can easily cut their time to market in half. There are several Lean Product Management principles, but that Greg shares is ABV, or Always Be Validating. Two Questions Product Managers Should Ask Every Day

04:13
There are two simple questions that Product Managers need to ask every day in order to be dramatically more effective. By integrating the questions “Why?” and “So What?” in to their daily work, any product manager can improve their effectiveness. Why? Asking why is one of the most fundamental things you can do as a Product Manager. Beyond the first ask, you should get underneath the initial answer, dig deeper in to some motivations and meanings by asking why several times. So What? This is a question that Product Managers should ask about the information they receive, be it from market research or another source to give any data appropriate context. Furthermore Product Managers should ask themselves “So what?” as a self-check. Connect the dots with regard to whatever you are proposing, and the bottom line of the company; especially when you are speaking with executives. Keep these simple questions in mind every day and you will grow as a product manager right away. To gain a far deeper understanding of Product Management and Product Marketing, take our Optimal Product Management and Product Marketing training course. http://280.gr/2ztJgIS To learn how to better work with everyone you will encounter in your role, take our People Skills for Product Managers and Product Marketers training course. http://280.gr/2hU2mQV

3 Strategies to Pitch Product Management Ideas

02:52
If you would like to learn more about negotiating and other Product Manager skills, download our free resources and subscribe to our YouTube channel. http://280.gr/2hSR5Ae In this video 280 Group CEO and Founder, Brian Lawley talks with Product Management Consultant and Trainer Bill Haines. Bill is an expert in positioning, messaging and influencing people. Bill is here to explain the three types of people who you are likely to encounter when pitching your Product Management idea as well as the strategy for dealing with each of them. Generally when you have a few ideas to pitch, there's one that you probably think is the best; that's important to keep in mind here. The first type of person that Bill describes are contrarians who feel the need to reject things/ideas. Next there are bonders who will latch on to the first idea they hear. Finally there are neutrals who will wait to hear every option before they make a decision. In order to strategize about how to pitch ideas to these types of people you need to observe personality types and plan around that. If you are pitching to a contrarian you should start with your worst idea because you know they are probably going to reject the first thing regardless of what it is. When speaking with a bonder, it makes sense to start with your best idea, you don't want them to become attached to one of your lesser ideas before they hear what you consider to be the best. If a person is truly neutral it wont' really matter what order you proceed in, but Bill recommends starting with your second best before pitching your best and then worst. It's now always so simple, but it's helpful to have some of these strategies in mind before pitching your Product Management ideas. If you would like to learn more about negotiating and other Product Manager skills, download our free resources and subscribe to our YouTube channel. http://280.gr/2hSR5Ae

Consulting 101: What is Consulting / Management Consulting? (Video 2 of 5)

04:38
A background on the consulting industry, information on the kind of business advice consultants offer, and the three deliverables management consulting firms offer at the end of a consulting project. #ManagementConsulting For more information on consulting and management consulting read http://managementconsulted.com/?p=59 #CaseInterviews #CaseInterviewPrep #StrategyConsultant #ResumeEdit #GetTheOffer #ManagementConsulted Partial Transcription: I'm Jenny Rae, the Managing Director and as an ex-Bain consultant, I'm here today to talk about a court topic that many people actually don't know the answer to which is what is consulting now this is a question that when I was flying home on a Thursday afternoon after a long week at Bain someone would ask me sitting next to me on the plane what do you do as a consultant and oftentimes I especially early on my career didn't have a great answer so this is something that I've developed over time in order to better explain what a consultant does now this first a little bit of history consulting came about at the turn of the 20th century as the industries around the world moved from family-owned conglomerates to larger companies that were more diversified and had external ownership there was increasing accountability which led to accounting standards and along with accounting there were experts that came along to review a company's books and operations and offer advice on how to improve them thus consulting was born and although there are many jokes that we could tell about consulting today we're going to focus about some of the serious nuts and bolts. So as I said, the industry was founded in the turn of the 20th century and really since then the core of consulting has been to offer one of three types of business advice to key businesses around the world the first type of consulting is increasing sales the second type of consulting is decreasing costs and the third type of consulting is expanding organizational design to enhance one of those schools as we over the next series of videos go through a process of explaining some of the different tools that consultants use remember these three things are really at the heart of everything that any good consultant will do now the deliverables for consultant at the end of their project are again one of three things the first is a final report the final report is where the consultant compiles all of the information that they generated on behalf of the client into a key set of recommendations along with the substantiation behind the recommendations it's the son result of all the research and analysis they did for the clients over the term of the project these reports sometimes are utilized other times they collect dust on someone's bookshelf but in general they're an important part of the consulting process they signify the end of an engagement the second thing is an operational model usually delivered in Microsoft Excel access or another database program and the operational model will be focused on some kind of enhancement that the client is recommended to do and it's a way for them to actually put the tool to use so an operational model for example could be instituted as a dashboard to look at KPIs or key performance indicators it could also be instituted as a way to manage costs by identifying which series of processes should be identified for each key product or service.
