Protection relay: Power system protection

11:20
Protection Relay or Protective Relay is a device designed to trip a circuit breaker when a fault is detected as matter of fact it is designe to protect power system. What is a Protection Relay? Protection relay is a smart device that receives inputs, compares them to set points, and provides outputs. Inputs can be current, voltage, resistance, or temperature. Outputs can include visual feedback in the form of indicator lights and/or an alphanumeric display, communications, control warnings, alarms, and turning power off and on. Protection or Protective Relay eliminate unnecessary trips, isolate faults, protect motors and breakers, and provide system information to help you better manage your system We differentiate Protection Relay types by function: * Overcurrent relay * Inverse Definite Minimum Time relay * Distance relay/Impedance relay * Differential relay * Directional relay * Synchronism check relay How does Protection Relay works and what are the types by funtion you can see in video. =========================================== Dear friends, support this channel http://hrvoje3d.com/support/ =========================================== Subscribe and give a support :) ✔ Subscribe https://www.youtube.com/user/chrvoje1 ✔ WEB http://www.hrvoje3d.com/ ✔ FACEBOOK https://www.facebook.com/Chrvoje1-engineering-606909579495110/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100015365768626 ✔ TWITTER https://twitter.com/chrvoje1 ============================================= Thanks For Watching....... Protective relay testing: Test relays of all generations

05:50
Due to the long life spans of protection relays, engineers are often required to test relays of all generations, from older electromechanical designs to the latest IEDs. A modern relay test set must have the flexibility to do this. The CMC 356 meets this need. Get more information: http://www.omicron.at/cmc356/

We will cover both mechanical and microprocessor based relays. We will look at one line diagrams showing the locations of generator CT’s, PT’s and associated step up and step down transformers.
Relay - Explained and animated - how relay works

01:59
Relay - Explained and animated A relay is an electrically operated switch. Many relays use an electromagnet to mechanically operate a switch, but other operating principles are also used, such as solid-state relays. Relays are used where it is necessary to control a circuit by a separate low-power signal, or where several circuits must be controlled by one signal

It is used in application to turn on and off circuit by low power signal, or where several circuits must be controlled by one signal. Electromagnetic relays are still commonly used in applications today because they are simple cheap and most important provide complete physical isolation between control and load circuit. In applications where a circuit must be completely ON or OFF with minimal on state voltage drop or to avoid danger of injury or damage of leakage current, electromagnetic relay is a better choice. ====================================================== ✔ SUBSCRIBE https://www.youtube.com/user/chrvoje1 ✔ WEB http://www.chrvojeengineering.com ✔ PATREON https://www.patreon.com/chrvojeengineering ✔ FACEBOOK https://www.facebook.com/chrvojeengineering/ ✔ TWITTER https://twitter.com/chrvoje1 ✔ LINKEDIN https://www.linkedin.com/in/chrvojengineering/ ✔ PLAYLIST https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItOV1nkTlPU&list=PLKDDPHypZkIU4EdJ0UdyvIx_GqzEmUMfM ====================================================== CREDITS: Animating: Sasho Boshinoski Hrvoje Čočić Story: Hrvoje Čočić Category: Education Licence: Standard YouTube Licence ====================================================== Thanks For Watching....... Directional Relays | GATE (EE) | Power Systems

13:31
In this video, Ankit Goyal (Co-Founder of Kreatryx and AIR 1 in GATE 2014) explains how to place the directional and non-directional relays in a power system. There is a myth that we can directly place directional relays at load end and non-directional relays at source end but that is not entirely true so a fool proof method is described to determine the position of relays. 38:50
VOLUME-5:- AUTO RECLOSER RELAY FULL EXPLANATION Principle of Operation:- The relay receives the fault initiation from the protection relay and that triggers the auto reclose function. After tripping the circuit breaker (CB), the Auto reclose function can reclose the CB. Normally , the first reclose (or shot) is so short in time that consumer cannot notice anything . However the fault is cleared and the feeder will continue in normal service. Even though the basic principle of Auto reclose is simple, there are a lot of different timers and parameters that have to be set.

How does overcurrent protection work?

04:10
The simplest form of overcurrent protection is a fuse. Fuses can only be used once and the maximum current that a fuse can interrupt is limited. Thus fuses are only used in low voltage systems and in some medium voltage systems. High voltage systems use a protective system consisting of circuit breakers, current transformers and protective relays instead.
