X-Men 2: Clone Wars (Sega Genesis): Full Run - No Deaths (Wolverine) by nahucirujano
After a long time, we have a new gameplay video. This time, a full run with no deaths at one of my favourite childhood Sega Genesis adventure videogames, "X-Men 2: Clone Wars", and using only Wolverine. I used to play this game when I was little, and once I beat it using only Wolverine. Now, after many years I played it again and lost at the final stage. Then I thought I could try to beat the game using only that character but without losing any lives. After a third try I did it. Stages List: 1° Siberia - 00:00 2° Sentinel Complex First Floor - 01:49 Second Floor - 04:04 Sentinel Core - 06:09 3° Avalon Asteroid's Surface - 09:00 Inside Avalon - 10:05 The Shaft - 13:20 The Chamber - 14:50 Magneto's Quarters - 15:34 4° Apocalypse's Fortress The Climb - 16:25 Inside The Fortress - 19:06 The Computer Room - 22:53 5° The Savage Land Jungle 1 - 27:08 1-minute break to go to the toilet xD - 32:53 Jungle 2 - 33:56 Tower Floor 1 - 35:58 Tower Floor 2 - 38:05 Master Brain's Quarters - 40:13 6° Phalanx Ship First Level - 41:11 Elevator - 47:14 The Lab - 50:26 The Maze - 58:12 The phone rang and I answered, so, sorry again xD just 30 sec - 01:04:22 The Clone Factory - 01:09:58 Credits - 01:24:57 By the way, the music of this game is awesome (except The Lab and The Maze theme). It's surprising how compositors could come up with such amazing songs for the Megadrive sound chip. Same case with Comix Zone and Vectorman, just incredible music.

Comix Zone Speed Run in 12:36
So, when I first started running this game, I didn't think it would be that bad to run. But after I broke down the game and were getting better, faster strats, that's when I found out just how insane this game really is. Everything is random...the enemy AI, the item drops (the ? ones), even some dialog. On top of that, random glitches can happen that will completely ruin a run. If you wanna see a good example, look through my videos for the reset glitch. I have had so many run get ruined just by random bullshit, most that will cost me a lot of time, and most of the time, I can't do anything about it except just deal with it. That's pretty much what I did with this run. It can be improved somewhat, but the game is so random, you're damn lucky if you even make it through the game at all.

Gaming Knowledge - 50hz PAL Sega Mega Drive games run at 60hz on a NTSC Genesis or Mega Drive
Randomised Gaming takes a full look at the compatibility issues some PAL / European 50hz Mega Drive games suffer when played at 60hz on a US or Japanese NTSC Sega Genesis or Mega Drive system. Here is Hard mode speed run of James "Buster" Douglas Knock Out Boxing for the Sega Genesis while using King Jason, with all 1st Round victories without getting knocked down. I dedicate this fight to my grandfather, Carlos Teixeira, who died (a year ago today on 2/27/2013), I'll be there to see you, I love with you all my heart...all praise be to my family, I love you...uh um God, ah man, WHAT! Played by Daniel "DTysonator" Teixeira on a model 2 Sega Genesis system while using a regular 3-button Genesis controller. Absolutely no cheating was used as always. Spider-man & X-Men: Arcade's Revenge speed run in 27:40
Finally a deathless run! This is a notable improvement over my old personal best from a few years ago. This run achieves nearly every new boss quick kill that I developed and has only a few minor mistakes in the levels themselves. Storm's levels were played slightly more safe than normal, and the Master Mold and Black Queen boss fights were a few seconds slower than optimal. Overall I had far above average luck and execution. I will likely record commentary for this later and reupload a video with that included instead of raw game audio. Until then, please enjoy! This run was performed live on my Twitch channel. if you wish to watch the VOD of that, you can find it here: https://www.twitch.tv/pjdicesare/v/86724774

Genesis 32x running on modified Sega Nomad, external pad and other features.
My NomaDoes what your NomaDon't? XD A lot of work went into making full 32x functionality possible, something of an OCD gaming dream come true! 32x does NOT normally work with a Nomad, not even with a Mega Key and external screen, and requires internal surface mount soldering work to enable, among other things. It took about 20 or so odd mods, and a LOT of experimentation. But after the sandpaper dust settled, here's all the features I ended up adding to the system: - LCD screen replaced - LCD input switch - LCD input jack - External LCD controls buttons - LCD off switch (for power saving when using TV) - External Player 1 controller port - Controller Port/onboard controls switch - Soft Reset button - Hard Reset button (for saving SMS games to Mega Everdrive) - SMS compatibility mod - 32x compatibility mod - Expansion audio compatibility mod - 3rd power input - Li-Ion camera battery dockplate - S-video Output - Foam hand grips - Secondary battery plate for 32x - Battery plate to 32x jack - 32x to video input cord - 32x input cable mod - 32x underside mod (allows video link cable to plug in cleanly) Whew! :) Bonus side effects were being able to use the Nomad as a portable music player by using a Mega Everdrive, and being able to play Sega Master System games in FM sound mode when using a NeoMyth MD Cart (also shown at the end of the video).

Toejam & Earl (Toejam's Run)[Genesis/Mega Drive Longplay] - SEGA Kidd
Developer: Johnson Voorsanger Productions Year Released: 1991 Mode: Random World Character Used: Toejam ToeJam & Earl is an action game developed by Johnson Voorsanger Productions and published by Sega for the Sega Genesis console. Released in 1991, it centers on ToeJam and Earl—alien rappers who have crash-landed on Earth. As they attempt to escape the planet, players assume the role of either character and collect pieces of their wrecked spacecraft. ToeJam & Earl's design was heavily influenced by the role-playing video game Rogue, and took from it such features as the random generation of levels and items. It references and parodies 1980s and early 90s urban culture and is set to a funk soundtrack. The game was positively received by critics, who praised its originality, soundtrack, humor and two-player cooperative mode. It attained sleeper hit status despite low initial sales, and its protagonists were used as mascots by Sega. ToeJam & Earl was followed by two sequels: ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron and ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth, released for the Sega Genesis and Xbox, respectively. The sequels' commercial and critical success was mixed. A fourth title, ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove, is currently in development with funds from Kickstarter. The game was re-released for the Wii's Virtual Console in December 2006 and re-released again on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in November 2012.

Vectorman speed run [13:44]
This is my Vectorman speedrun in 13 minutes and 44 seconds, as timed from pressing Start Game to delivering the final hit on Warhead. Vectorman is a kind of unique run'n'gun in that you never shoot enemies if you can avoid it. The best way to deal damage by far is actually the jump-boost that you get by pressing C twice. The regular shot does have some utility, though: if you shoot up-right as you land from a fall your speed immediately resets to a high value. I would have preferred to get a deathless run, but only one death losing minimal time isn't too bad. Can be beaten by a good few seconds (maybe 20?) but didn't fancy the grind that would have entailed. When I did the PAL run the grind was three months long, and this just took a weekend, to give you an idea of how my attitude to speedruns, especially of simple games like this, have changed over time.

Beavis and Butthead SPEED RUN (0:12:15) 2011 SDA [Genesis]

Both characters can be selected, and a two-player coop mode is available. The game is often considered quite difficult due to the overwhelming lack of direction in the title, but it preserves very well the idiotic entertainment found in its silver screen counterpart. In the game, the title characters search for missing concert ticket pieces scattered about their local neighborhood. Maximum Carnage (SNES) - SPEED RUN in 22:05 by Funkdoc
Download the run here - http://speeddemosarchive.com/demo.pl?MaximumCarnage_2205 Game page - http://speeddemosarchive.com/MaximumCarnage.html Link to SDA - http://speeddemosarchive.com/ CHECK HERE for AGDQ date, schedule etc - http://marathon.speeddemosarchive.com/ Live speed runs - http://www.numbersmw.com/ ---------------------------------------------------- From SDA's game page: Released in September 1994, Spider-Man and Venom: Maximum Carnage is a scrolling fighting game for the Super NES and the Genesis based on a comic book of the same name. It prominently features the titular heroes, as well as an array of other Marvel characters in a fight to stop Carnage from taking over the city. Author's comments: This was a childhood favorite that I could never beat, and much like with Skull & Crossbones I was surprised at how easy it is with proper resource management. Unlike Skull & Crossbones this was a pretty popular game back in the day that remains well-liked today, so it's been one of the most often-requested runs of mine. The hand-to-hand combat uses one of my favorite mechanics in any beat-em-up, the power hit. This is an extremely powerful attack with 2 different versions (hand-to-hand and while grabbing), of which the hand-to-hand is better since it can hit multiple enemies. What makes this idea unique is that you build up power hits by landing a large number of consecutive hits on enemies without missing anything or getting hit yourself, thereby rewarding accuracy and safety even in a speedrun! You're going to see a lot of these throughout the first half of the game, and it's not as easy as it looks. What makes it much easier, however, is the ability to cancel your punch combo and restart at any time. Normally you do a 4-hit combo with the 4th knocking down, but you can reset the combo by pressing up, down, up/forward, or down/forward. This is why you'll see me repeating the first 3 moves of the combo a lot. Helps out a ton with the power hits as well as locking enemies down in general. Grabs are slower than punching for 1 or 2 enemies, but very helpful for dealing with larger crowds and enemies who block (read: girls). You can also do infinite combos on certain enemies with it, which you can see at a few points throughout the game. You can tap B and A after picking up an enemy to spin him/her and increase the damage on your throw, but this is only marginally useful since you tend to miss surround enemies more often with the throw. The A button gets a fair amount of use in this game. Forward+A is a long-range grab, while neutral A is a web shot that freezes an enemy. The web shot is mainly used for setting up a power hit on multiple enemies. If 2 enemes are surrounding you and far enough away from you, neutral A performs a double smash on them for big damage; this is hard to set up on groups of normal enemies, but you'll see it once IIRC. It also instantly kills any pair of non-supervillain bosses and gives you an extra life, but only if you hit neither of them beforehand. As for characters, Venom is better than Spidey in almost every way: More damage, more range, a jumpkick that isn't useless, and a power hit with a huge hit area all around him. I pick Spidey at the first branching path only because his two levels are far shorter than Venom's two there. Venom more than makes up for that later, when selecting him near the end of the game allows you to skip three full levels. Spidey is probably more consistent against Carnage at the end of the game due to his speed, though. The most difficult part of the early game is the Hall, as Doppelganger is just plain cheap without any superheroes to help you. He frequently ducks under your punches and can randomly grab you out of your combos, so throwing Shriek at him and using your special ends up being the best way to fight. And yes, you have to lose that fight right before the Hall.

I might get it tomorrow or in months, nobody knows. Now I fully understand why many famous Sonic speedrunners call this game '"unrunnable". Thanks, if you read all this. :-)

So I got asked to do a boss run. Happy to oblige. In fact I'm uploading two versions of this video, one with commentary, and one without. (This is the one without). I originally thought this would be a nice, simple game to get back into the swing of recording. What ended up happening is one of the most frustrating Boss Runs I have ever recorded. Let's put it this way - hard mode in this game pulls no punches. Robot Masters are sped up to almost double their original speed, and some even gain new attack patterns. Combine this with at least 3 bosses requiring good luck best them without taking damage (See Napalm Man, Stone Man and... the second Escaroo. No, really.), this was pretty hard to pull off. Will I do other Mega Man games like this? Sure. Why not. I opted to do this as a Boss Run first rather than a Let's Play first, because aside from boss changes (which are covered in the commentary version of this video), there is little else to cover in this game other than the fact that this is one weird entry in the series. And yes, Toad Man is a Fortress Boss. I don't get it either.

The Terminator Sega CD WR Speed Run 21:19:26
So this is the a new run of a game which hasn't been run before... 'The Terminator' for Sega CD/Mega CD This is by far one of the best games for the Sega CD and has one of the all time greatest soundtracks to a game in my opinion! Many people have run the NES and the Sega Genesis Version of the Terminator (Me included) but no one has run the Sega CD version of the game. I am unsure if NTSC/PAL has any difference timing wise for the game like the Terminator for the Sega Genesis (PAL is around 3 minutes slower overall compared to NTSC) so I ran this using the NTSC version of the game. The run it self is pretty self explanatory. A lot of running, gunning and platforming. There isn't much RNG in the run at all so it is all down to skill. As you will see from the video there is a fair bit of tricky jumps and grabs in the run. The main difficulty with the game is ladders and conveyor belts, Ladders require a great deal of posistioning and correctly timed inputs to grab otherwise you will just fall through them. Another annoyance is the conveyor belts in the foundry levels. They some times just eat your inputs making you fall in to lava which is a huge pain in the arse. I died twice throughout this run mainly due to asshole physics regarding ladders and conveyor belts at around 17:00 and 18:00 minutes in to the run. A last kick in the teeth this game has is the crane on the last level...You have two pretty much frame perfect jumps to make otherwise you will get thrown off the platform and being so late in the run this really sucks. Apart from normal platforming issues the rest of the game is all about health management and conserving enough health to bypass certain enemies saving time by not having to shoot them. Anyway it was a really solid run, only a few hickups in the routing and 2 deaths but that's kind of expected on the foundry levels. Hope you enjoy and make sure you follow me on twitch @ twitch.tv/swingflip2014 it really helps me out! Thanks :) Swingflip
