Russian navy warships shadow & intercept two US navy destroyers entered Baltic Sea - Russian warships have been deployed to shadow two U.S. Navy destroyers operating in the Baltic Sea, it has been reported. Two Russian corvettes, the Boykiy and Soobrazitelny, of the Baltic Fleet have been escorting the USS Porter and USS Gravely, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. Last week the USS Gravely, an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, was spotted passing through the Danish straits and approaching the Baltic sea, according to the Daily Star. A picture showing the destroyer pulling into Copenhagen, Denmark, was tweeted by the U.S. Navy, who said the ship was there "for a scheduled port visit." Today USS Gravely entered the Baltic Sea alongside the USS Porter under escort by Russia, whose Kaliningrad enclave hosts its main naval base in the region, Baltiysk. "The forces of the Baltic Fleet took Gravely and Porter, the destroyers of the U.S. Navy that entered the southern part of the Baltic Sea, under escort. Russian Navy corvettes Boiky and Soobrazitelny are monitoring the actions of the U.S. ships," the Russian National Defence Management Centre said Monday. Capable of carrying up to 56 Tomahawk missiles, the destroyers are the latest U.S. Navy warships to sail near Russia's territorial waters in an apparent show of force. The U.S. military and NATO allies have stepped up their presence in northern and eastern Europe, deploying troops, aircraft and warships to those areas, and in turn, heightening tensions with Russia. Meanwhile in the Black Sea, U.S. guided-missile destroyer USS Donald Cook is being monitored closely by Russian warships after arriving in the region over the weekend. Meanwhile in the Black Sea, US guided-missile destroyer USS Donald Cook is being monitored closely by Russian warships after arriving in the region over the weekend Over the weekend Russian senator Alexei Pushkov warned US warships to “keep away” from Russian territory as Donald Cook entered the Black Sea. “US warships are becoming frequent visitors to the Black Sea. These visits have nothing to do with US security,” Pushkov wrote on his Twitter page. “They flaunt their flag, send us a signal, and appease their own senators, who are demanding they send a whole military fleet to the Black Sea. They should keep away from our coastline,” he wrote. The US and NATO allies have been ramping up their presence in the Black Sea since Russia seized three Ukrainian vessels in December, inflaming tensions between Kiev and Moscow. Under freedom of navigation rules, vessel are allowed to do so, offering symbolic support to the Ukrainian naval at a time of heightened military activity in the region. The Montreux Treaty allows US and NATO ships to remain there for 21 days

Peter & Paul Fortress & Neva River Cruise Tour: From 1721 the Peter and Paul Fortress housed part of the city's garrison and served as a high security political jail. Among the inmates was Peter's own rebellious son, Alexei, plus Gorky, Trotsky and Lenin's older brother, Alexander. Views of the impressive Peter and Paul Cathedral, the burial place of all the Russian Emperors and Empresses from Peter the Great to Nicholas II. On top of the Cathedral’s gilded spire stands a magnificent golden angel holding a cross. This weathervane is one of the most prominent symbols of St. Petersburg. From the pier, not far from the Peter and Paul Fortress, cruising along the Neva River, you’ll see some of the city’s famous landmarks, including the former Stock Exchange flanked by two Rostral Columns, the State Hermitage Museum including the Winter Palace, the famous cruiser Aurora, the Bronze Horseman and the St. Isaac Cathedral. Flowing through the city of St. Petersburg, the River Neva is an essential part of its charm, and has played an important part in numerous historical events. The width of the river ranges from an impressive 1,300 to 2,000 feet, however near the Peter and Paul Fortress and the Hermitage it exceeds 2,600 feet wide. In preparation for the Navy Day celebration of July 30, 2017, naval ships are moored in the Neva River.

St Petersburg, Russia - Day 1 - Baltic Cruise 2018

07:57
Join me in St Petersburg, Russia as we take a walking tour and visit the Church of the savior on spilled blood. This was part of a Baltic cruise that we took in September 2018. We decided to take a ship excursion in Russia due to the visa's required to visit Russia alone. It is possible to get your own visa and visit Russia alone/on a private tour but in this instance, we thought it would be easier to take a ship excursion and let the cruise line sort out the visas. We head back to the Marella Discovery for dinner in 47 degrees before spending the evening in Bar Eleven, the theatre and at karaoke! U.S. Navy Ship Encounters Russian Aircraft In Baltic Sea (VIDEO)

01:41
Russian Aircraft Sukhoi Su-24 Conducted 'Simulated Attack' on U.S. Navy Ship USS Donald Cook Russian Aircraft Conducted 'Simulated Attack' on U.S. Navy Ship In one of the most aggressive actions in recent memory, Russian warplanes conducted “simulated attacks” on the a U.S. Navy vessel in the Baltic Sea on Tuesday, repeatedly flying within 30 feet of the ship, according to a defense official. Sailors aboard the destroyer Donald Cook said the aircraft flew low enough to create wake in the sea waters surrounding the ship, and the ship’s commanding officer said the incident was “unsafe and unprofessional,” the defense official said. “This was more aggressive than anything we’ve seen in some time,” according to the defense official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because U.S. officials have not officially disclosed the incidents. Sailors aboard the ship described the Sukhoi Russian Su-24 as “wings clean,” meaning there were no visible bombs or armaments on the aircraft, the defense official said. The nature of the overflight as a “simulated attack” may violate a 1973 treaty between the U.S. and Russia that specifically prohibits this type of maneuver, the defense official said The maneuver was one of several aggressive moves by Russian aircraft on Monday and Tuesday Shortly after leaving the Polish port of Gdynia, near Gdansk, on Monday, the Donald Cook at was sea in international waters conducting flight operations with a Polish helicopter, part of routine joint training exercises with the NATO ally During those flight operations, a Russian Sukhoi Su-24 combat aircraft appeared and conducted about 20 overflights, coming within 1,000 yards of the ship at an altitude of about 100 feet, the defense official said. In response, the commander of the Donald Cook suspended flight operations. On Tuesday, the Donald Cook was underway in the Baltic Sea when a Russian helicopter — a Ka-27 Helix — made seven overflights and appeared to be taking photographs of the U.S. Navy ship, the defense official said Shortly after the helicopter left the area, an Su-24 began making “very low” overflights with a “simulated attack profile,” the defense official said. The aircraft made a total of 11 passes. U.S. vs. Russia: What a war would look like between the world's most fearsome militaries The ship's commander repeatedly tried to make radio contact with the Russian aircraft but received no response, the defense official said. While Russian aircraft during the past couple of years have conducted numerous aggressive overflights that Navy officials deemed “unprofessional," the incident on Tuesday was the first to be deemed “unsafe,” the defense official said. In 1973, the United States and the Soviet Union signed a treaty aimed at preventing incidents at sea. That treaty specifically prohibits “ simulating attacks,” according to the U.S. State Department’s website. The aircraft likely came from a Russian military installations in Kalingrad, an enclave of Russian territory on the Baltic Coast nestled between Poland and Lithuania. A Russian jet conducted “simulated attacks” on a U.S. Navy ship in the Baltic Sea Tuesday A defense official told the Military Times that a Russian attack aircraft flew within 30 feet of the USS Donald Cook in the Baltic Sea, which led the ship’s commanding officer to call the incident “unsafe and unprofessional.” “This was more aggressive than anything we’ve seen in some time,” the defense official stated. U.S. officials have not yet officially acknowledged the incident. Pentagon officials have engaged in discussions about releasing videos and photos of the encounter, CNN reported, citing U.S. officials. Hours after the initial reports regarding the incident, images and video surfaced on social media allegedly showing the Russian Su-24 fighter jet conducting the “simulated attack” on the U.S. ship. The defense official told the Military Times that the overflight could violate a 1973 treaty between the United States and Russia that bars “simulated attacks.” A Russian Ka-27 Helix helicopter made seven overflights of the USS Donald Cook and seemed to be taking photographs before the Russian Su-24 fighter jet entered the area making “very low” overflights Tuesday, the unnamed official said. The jet made 11 passes. The incident was one of two in which Russian jets have flown aggressively close to U.S. ships in recent days. A Russian Su-24 fighter jet made 20 passes of the USS Donald Cook and flew at an altitude of 100 feet and within 1,000 yards of the ship as it left Gdynia, a Polish port in the Baltic Sea, on Monday. There have been conflicting reports about whether one or two Russian jets were involved in both incident When a Russian Su-24 made a provocative pass of the USS Donald Cook in the Black Sea in 2014, the Pentagon decried it as “provocative and unprofessional.”

Russia-The Art Of Transforming The Baltic Fleet

01:56
T/I 10:35:57 THE ART OF TRANSFORMING THE BALTIC FLEET Kaliningrad, Russia Natural Sound Duration: 1.56" Russia's once proud Baltic Sea Fleet seems doomed to rust in harbours in the Baltic port of Kaliningrad. Hundreds of naval ships from the Russian Baltic Sea Fleet are listing in what have become ship graveyards, because there is insufficient money or personnel to use or dismantle the fleet. Before the break-up of the Soviet Union, the Baltic Sea Fleet was spread over Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Russian Republic. The bay at Kaliningrad housed roughly 50 ships owned by the Russian Republic. Since 1993, Russia has taken all its Baltic Sea Fleet ships back from the newly independent Baltic states and has now over 300 ships. Russia does not have the finances for maintenance, nor the space. The Baltic Sea Fleet has put its money into only a few modern ships and junked the rest. There isn't even enough money to reuse parts and metal. Oil spills from the fleet slick the waters of the harbour with no plans for their cleanup. Several local artists decided to highlight the problem by turning rusty ships into art works. Russian Attack Jets Flying Dangerously Close To US Navy Destroyer In Baltic Sea Was A Warning

05:21
Russian military fighter jets flew dangerously close to US Naval Destroyer USS Donald Cook on Monday, April 11th, 2016. As the US Navy vessel was leaving the nothern Poland port of Gdynia, approaching the Kaliningrad Oblast (which is not a part of mainland Russia, but is part of the Russian Federation) the Russian jets and one helicopter did a series of about 30 passes by the Naval Destroyer. One of the passes was so low to the water's surface, that it actually created a wake in the water. The maneuvers are currently seen as the most provocative since the Cold War days. The maneuvers are also seen as a show of aggression, but not necessarily a sign of aggression. Meaning, there doesn't seem to be any immediate threat, but they do appear to be sending a warning. USS Donald Cook was in international waters at the time, but they were very close to Russian territory, about 70 nautical miles to be exact. The Russian Federation could simply be sending a "back off" message with it's military, or it could simply be a show of strength and force. Possibly even testing the US military to see how they would react. There have been other instances of similar things happening between the US and Russia, but nothing to this magnitude in recent years. Monday's incident has also been compared to the Iranian territorial waters incident when smaller Naval boats were seized by the Iranian national guard after allegedly running aground Farsi Island in the Persian gulf, during a trip from Bahran to Kuwait. Although not the same, as no one on the USS Donald Cook was contacted at all by the Russians, one thing's for sure, this won't be the last time we see acts of aggression or strong-man posturing from the world's leading nations against one another. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– If you want to support me to continue to crank out these videos, please visit my website http://www.anthonyblogan.com/contact/ and click on that donate button for me! –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– You can catch me micro-blogging on a near 24/7basis on my social media platforms: http://www.twitter.com/anthonyblogan http://www.facebook.com/lcs.flyers Please take a moment and subscribe to my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/aloge?sub_confirmation=1 Stay tuned to my website http://www.anthonyblogan.com for more updates as they come in! –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Russian Attack Jets Aggressively Fly Over U.S. Destroyer USS Donald Cook in The Baltic Sea http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/russian-attack-jets-aggressively-fly-over-u-s-destroye-1770792698 Russian fighter jets get close to U.S. destroyer http://edition.cnn.com/2016/04/13/politics/russian-fighter-jet-us-destroyer/index.html What it looks like when Russian attack jets fly ‘dangerously close’ to a Navy ship https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/checkpoint/wp/2016/04/13/russian-air-force-buzzed-u-s-navy-destroyer-repeatedly-in-baltic-sea/ This is why the Navy didn't shoot down Russian jets http://www.navytimes.com/story/military/2016/04/13/why-navy-didnt-shoot-down-russian-jets/83000858/ Russian attack aircraft just flew within 30 feet of a U.S. Navy ship http://www.militarytimes.com/story/military/2016/04/13/russian-su-24-attack-aircraft-us-navy-destroyer-donald-cook-baltic-sea/82979184/

U.S. Navy ship encounters aggressive Russian aircraft in Baltic Sea (1 of 4)

00:24
A United States Navy Destroyer operating in international waters in the Baltic Sea experienced several close interactions by Russian aircraft on April 11 and 12. USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) encountered multiple, aggressive flight maneuvers by Russian aircraft that were performed within close proximity of the ship. On April 11, Donald Cook was conducting deck landing drills with an Allied military helicopter when two Russian SU-24 jets made numerous, close-range and low altitude passes at approximately 3 p.m. local. One of the passes, which occurred while the Allied helicopter was refueling on the deck of Donald Cook, was deemed unsafe by the ship’s commanding officer. As a safety precaution, flight operations were suspended until the SU-24s departed the area. On April 12, while Donald Cook was operating in international waters in the Baltic Sea, a Russian KA-27 Helix helicopter conducted circles at low altitude around the ship, seven in total, at approximately 5 p.m. local. The helicopter passes were also deemed unsafe and unprofessional by the ship’s commanding officer. About 40 minutes following the interaction with the Russian helicopter, two Russian SU-24 jets made numerous close-range and low altitude passes, 11 in total. The Russian aircraft flew in a simulated attack profile and failed to respond to repeated safety advisories in both English and Russian. USS Donald Cook’s commanding officer deemed several of these maneuvers as unsafe and unprofessional. We have deep concerns about the unsafe and unprofessional Russian flight maneuvers. These actions have the potential to unnecessarily escalate tensions between countries, and could result in a miscalculation or accident that could cause serious injury or death. U.S. officials are using existing diplomatic channels to address the interactions, while the incidents are also being reviewed through U.S. Navy channels. http://www.c6f.navy.mil/news/us-navy-ship-encounters-aggressive-russian-aircraft-baltic-sea
