400 Mile New Jersey to North Carolina Offshore Fishing Trip + Surf Fishing
Happy Thanksgiving all! crazy how the striper fishing was so good this day last year and so bad today.. This video is from about a month ago. Got an invite to move "The Hot Tuna" which is a charter boat in LBI NJ (call 862-703-1895 if interested in a charter) to its winter home in Morehead City North Carolina. The crew consisted of Bob the Captain, Dante the 2nd captain, and Scott, Jimmy and Me. This would be a 48 hour trip covering about 400+ miles of Ocean, we stopped and hit some lobster pots to start the trip off, putting a dozen mahi in the box before posting up on the troll toward our southern destination. The only reason I narrated the whole mahi session was because my corrupt gopro didnt record any of the audio... We caught a few more mahi and a couple skipjack before the sun set. We woke up the next morning somewhere off the Outer Banks and about an hour after sunrise got a surprise Billfish.. I figured this would be the day we would catch tuna and other sick fish but the further south we got, the dirtier the water got, and we spent a lot of the day trolling some nasty looking water. At one point we saw the Oregon Inlet fleet, dozens of boats, all running toward the inlet? That was not a good sign. We found a couple King Mackerel in some shallower water on the edge of the Gulf Stream but generally day 2 was a bust. The final nail in the coffin was when the coast guard came and checked the boat for the final hour- hour and a half of daylight.. Day 3, we arrived in Morehead City, cleaned the fish, lived the docklife, slipped the boat and went to Bobs House. Typical of times when you dont bring any gear, the albies were going wild all over the beaches in front of Bobs house and I had absolutely nothing adequate to cast at them. Scott got one on a really inadequate jig before I got there. I got bit on a twister tail but the albie broke the cheap hook... thankfully the albies disappeared and we were able to focus on the small fluke that were all over in the wash... the day ended with a big bite on my gulp shrimp and getting a nice spool-job by a lowly shark. All in all it was a crazy few days of travel and fishing. My White Rod is Pompano Bay Custom 7' http://www.pompanobayrods.com Some stuff you might want for Fishing and or Christmas- Fluorocarbon ( we used all kinds of fluoro on this trip)- http://amzn.to/2A0Vyur Insulateld XtraTuf boots - http://amzn.to/2zh38hn Or the offshore xtratuf Dante had- http://amzn.to/2BeThdg Penn Clash's on Sale - http://amzn.to/2zf0yIH that Fluke bait- http://amzn.to/2A6UsLC reach that next level of fishing by spending your life savings on these pliers - http://amzn.to/2A03yfc or this reel. 30 Mile Ocean Journey in Homemade Solar Boat
Door to door and back its about 28 miles. ...but counting my accidental detour it was over 30. I averaged 6mph which I'm pretty happy with considering I was traveling at non optimal times of day. I'm not sure what top speed is yet. I might be ready to use all 7 solar panels with full sun on the next trip. The motor seems to be handling everything, no problem.

500 mile Scooter trip to Salton Sea on a Burgman 650
This is a 3 day trip that we took on our scooters. We started it out on the Ladder hike in the Painted Desert then we went off to Bombay Beach in Salton Sea, then to Salvation Mountain and Slab City the last lawless town and if that wasn't enough we let Wes waller in the mud at the geothermal mud pots. Desert Hot Springs ended our trip with 500 miles of seat time on the scoots. Don't forget to Like-Share-Subscribe and just remember "I'm just a man in a cave causing mayhem!" Music By: Michett

R3 (Daily Vlog 4 of 21) Departing from Tonga and deciding what course to take, hoping that the forecasted weather holds true and really really really being like… not worried… but like when you get butterflies but they are the good kind and your feeling ok but have a big task ahead of you but think that you will be able to do it but also know that people have died doing this trip before and definitely wanting to do everything you can to make sure it goes as smoothly as possible. Conscientious, sedulous, respectful of the ocean and mother nature, anxious, elated, acknowledging doubts as they arise and trying to be honest about your and the boats capabilities. Big trip. Pebble Beach 17 Mile Sunset Drive
Driving 17 Mile Drive, starting at The Lodge of Pebble Beach Who can spot the $2,200,000 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport? 17-Mile Drive is a scenic road through Pebble Beach and Pacific Grove on the Monterey Peninsula in California, much of which hugs the Pacific coastline and passes famous golf courses, mansions and scenic attractions, including the Lone Cypress, Bird Rock and the 5,300-acre Del Monte Forest of Monterey Cypress trees. The drive serves as the main road through the gated community of Pebble Beach. Inside this community, nonresidents have to pay a toll to use the road. Like the community, the majority of 17-Mile Drive is owned and operated by the Pebble Beach Corporation. The 17-Mile Drive is a 17-mile (27 km)-long scenic loop having four primary entrances - the main highway entrance at California State Route 1, and entrances in Carmel and Pacific Grove. At the north end, a portion of the early route through Pacific Grove begins at the intersection of Del Monte Blvd and Esplanade Street. The famous portion of 17-Mile Drive then begins a few miles south of this point. The crossing of Highway 68 (Holman Highway/Sunset Drive) and 17-Mile Drive marks the entrance to Pebble Beach. From the Sunset Drive/Pacific Grove gate, the drive runs inland past Spanish Bay, then adjacent to beaches and up into the coastal hills, providing scenic viewpoints. The route allows for self-directed travel and stopping, with frequent turnouts along the roadway in many locations along the route. Without stops, it takes a minimum of 20 minutes to reach Carmel. The numerous turnouts allow stopping to take pictures, or getting out to stroll along the ocean or among the trees. Visitors receive a map that points out some of the more scenic spots. In addition, a red-dashed line is marked in the center of the main road to guide visitors, and help prevent them from venturing into the adjacent neighborhood streets. Beach near the Pacific Grove entrance of the 17 Mile Drive Beach access near golf links at Pebble Beach Bird Rock Seal seen along 17-mile drive The road provides vistas of golf courses including Spyglass Hill, Cypress Point and Pebble Beach. After reaching Carmel Way, and the exit to Carmel, the 17-Mile Drive then heads northeast to the Highway 68/Highway 1 interchange, where one can exit, or continue to loop along the higher vistas of 17-Mile Drive, some of which offer views from more than 600 feet above sea-level. The full loop will take you back to the Pacific Grove Gate at Sunset Drive — a distance of 17 miles. The only services open to the public in Pebble Beach (gas stations, restrooms, restaurants) are at the Inn at Spanish Bay and at the Lodge at Pebble Beach; plenty of comfortable and scenic spots are available to picnic. Spyglass Hill and Poppy Hills golf courses also have restaurants open to the public. To drive the section of the road within the Pebble Beach gated community, there is an entrance fee requirement of US$10.00 (as of August 12, 2014), except for travelers on bicycles. Visitors can recoup the toll if they dine or shop within the community. Residents are not required to pay this fee, as they pay an annual fee (noted by the "Del Monte Forest" placard that residents carry in their vehicle or on their license plates), nor are guests if they are granted access in advance of their visit by a resident or through hotel/restaurant reservations (the guard house can either call the resident or look at a list of names). Motorcycles are not allowed. More Info Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/17-Mile_Drive Robert Myrick Photography

The deep ocean is the final frontier on planet Earth
The ocean covers 70% of our planet. The deep-sea floor is a realm that is largely unexplored, but cutting-edge technology is enabling a new generation of aquanauts to go deeper than ever before. Click here to subscribe to The Economist on YouTube: http://econ.trib.al/rWl91R7 Beneath the waves is a mysterious world that takes up to 95% of Earth's living space. Only three people have ever reached the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean. The deep is a world without sunlight, of freezing temperatures, and immense pressure. It's remained largely unexplored until now. Cutting-edge technology is enabling a new generation of aquanauts to explore deeper than ever before. They are opening up a whole new world of potential benefits to humanity. The risks are great, but the rewards could be greater. From a vast wealth of resources to clues about the origins of life, the race is on to the final frontier The Okeanos Explorer, the American government state-of-the-art vessel, designed for every type of deep ocean exploration from discovering new species to investigating shipwrecks. On board, engineers and scientists come together to answer questions about the origins of life and human history. Today the Okeanos is on a mission to investigate the wreck of a World War one submarine. Engineer Bobby Moore is part of a team who has developed the technology for this type of mission. The “deep discover”, a remote operating vehicle is equipped with 20 powerful LED lights and designed to withstand the huge pressure four miles down. Equivalent to 50 jumbo jets stacked on top of a person While the crew of the Okeanos send robots to investigate the deep, some of their fellow scientists prefer a more hands-on approach. Doctor Greg stone is a world leading marine biologist with over 8,000 hours under the sea. He has been exploring the abyss in person for 30 years. The technology opening up the deep is also opening up opportunity. Not just to witness the diversity of life but to glimpse vast amounts of rare mineral resources. Some of the world's most valuable metals can be found deep under the waves. A discovery that has begun to pique the interest of the global mining industry. The boldest of mining companies are heading to the deep drawn by the allure of a new Gold Rush. But to exploit it they're also beating a path to another strange new world. In an industrial estate in the north of England, SMD is one of the world's leading manufacturers of remote underwater equipment. The industrial technology the company has developed has made mining possible several kilometers beneath the ocean surface. With an estimated 150 trillion dollars’ worth of gold alone, deep-sea mining has the potential to transform the global economy. With so much still to discover, mining in the deep ocean could have unknowable impact. It's not just life today that may need protecting; reaching the deep ocean might just allow researchers to answer some truly fundamental questions. Hydrothermal vents, hot springs on the ocean floor, are cracks in the Earth's crust. Some claim they could help scientists glimpse the origins of life itself. We might still be years away from unlocking the mysteries of the deep. Even with the latest technology, this kind of exploration is always challenging. As the crew of the Okeanos comes to terms with a scale of the challenge and the opportunity that lies beneath, what they and others discover could transform humanity's understanding of how to protect the ocean. It's the most hostile environment on earth, but the keys to our future may lie in the deep. Travel with me to Pebble Beach and Carmel California Part 1
I wanted to share this beautiful place with all of you. I first discovered this wonderful little piece of heaven on earth years ago in a magazine article. We finally made it there two years ago for our 20th anniversary, and we loved it so much that we said "we have to bring the kiddos with us next time!" We also said "why did we wait so long to come here"!?! Lol! This time it's our 22nd anniversary, and we are so happy to return to this beautiful place again and enjoy it as a family this time. Carmel by the sea has enchanting architecture. But the most enchanting to me are the fairytale cottages built by Hugh Comstock. Which is what first attracted me to want to visit Carmel in the first place. The magazine article was written all about these Hugh Comstock cottages. He built his first one in 1925 for his wife who made handmade dolls that she would sell. We love architecture and houses with character... so naturally we love Carmel by the sea!:) Please enjoy this vacay with us... with love from our family to yours! XO P.S. If you get the chance to go - it's worth the extra $10. to drive down the 17 mile drive through pebble beach, and it takes you straight into Carmel by the sea.

6 Holiday Horror Stories
Holiday horror stories! These travellers hopped on a plane to enjoy their vacation in a different country on the beach, but their dream holidays turned into true & scary stories. Support our Patreon today: https://www.patreon.com/theywillkillyou Subscribe for new videos: http://goo.gl/SaufF4 Follow us on Instagram: @theywillkillyou Voiceover by Carl Mason: [email protected] 6: Cave Caving enthusiast Gary Lutes wanted to share his passion with his two sons, 9-year-old Tim & 13-year-old Buddy. After the family arrived at the New Trout Cave in West Virginia in 1990, they set off to explore. They’d carried a pack of supplies that included extra headlamps as well as food & water. After about 1,000 feet they reached a portion of the cave known as ‘The Maze’ which was full of tight spaces & jagged rocks. Lutes decided to leave the pack behind as he thought it would hinder their exploration & estimated that their head lamps would provide enough light until they could return to it. The boys’ lamps burned out after only a few minutes. They spent five days in complete darkness without any food or water. 5: Bungee Jumping While visiting Victoria Falls in southern Africa in 2012, Erin Langworthy decided to take her holiday experience one step further & signed up to do a bungee jump off the Victoria Falls Bridge. The morning before the jump, the 22-year-old had seen crocodiles near the banks of the Zambesi River. Nevertheless, she wasn’t worried. She plunged head first from a height of 354 feet. When she was about 130 feet from the river below, her bungee cord snapped. She crashed into the water, her feet still bound with about 100 feet of rope attached to them. An employee from the bungee company grabbed her & pulled her out of the water. 4: Snow The day after Thanksgiving 2006, James Kim, his wife Kati & their two daughters, Penelope & Sabine were heading towards a resort near Gold Beach, Oregon after they set off from Portland, Oregon. They missed a turnoff on their journey & decided to take what looked like a shortcut on their map. Soon they found themselves on a treacherous mountain road. After realizing that they could neither turn back nor forward, the family spent the night in their car. They awoke the next day & found themselves surrounded by deep snow. Several days later, on December 2, James Kim, wearing tennis shoes, light clothing & a jacket left his family, to look for help. He promised his wife to return that same day even if he hadn’t found anyone. He’d walked 16.2 miles from the car, & was only a mile away from Black Bear Lodge, which was closed but fully stocked with food & supplies at the time. 3: Sea Waif In November 1961, optometrist Dr. Arthur Duperrault chartered a yacht in the Bahamas, along with his wife Jean & his three children, 7-year-old Renee, 14-year-old Brian & Terry Jo, aged 11. The ship was called Bluebelle & pilot, Julian Harvey was its captain. Harvey had also decided to bring his wife Mary Dene, whom he married in July, along for the trip. The holiday would be the last the Duperrault family would ever take together. Terry Jo drifted for four days without food or water before she was found by a Greek freighter. A crewman took a picture of the girl as she floated on the water. It made front pages around the world followed by stories of the ‘sea waif’. 2: Taken By a Dingo On August 17, 1980, the Chamberlain family was on a camping trip at Ayer’s Rock in Australia’s Northern Territory. As darkness set in, Lindy Chamberlain placed Azaria, her nine-week-old daughter into the family’s tent. When the woman couldn’t find Azaria inside the tent. Everything indicated that the infant had indeed been taken by wild dogs. Nevertheless, the public as well as the authorities didn’t believe the scenario dictated by the findings & suspicion fell on the parents. Azaria’s jacket was found near a dingo lair, confirming the initial story. Lindy was pardoned. 1: Panama Jungle On March 15, 2014, Kris Kremers & Lisanne Froom arrived in Panama for a six-week holiday, shortly after their college graduation. After touring Panama for a couple of weeks, the two Dutch girls arrived in Boquete, on March 29. They were going to live with a local family for about a month while volunteering with the children. On April 1, Froon & Kremers went for a hike with their hosts’ dog near the clouded forests surrounding the Baru volcano. That night the dog returned home without the young women & the search for them began days later. On April 6, their parents arrived in Panama, along with dog units from the Netherlands. A full-scale search of the forests was conducted for ten days & their parents even offered a 30,000 USD reward. Sadly, the search didn’t produce any results.

Montevideo Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Uruguay is emerging as one of South America’s favorite destinations. Its capital Montevideo has a warm, temperate climate, pleasant sea breezes and miles of boulevards. From Montevideo’s Telecommunications Tower you can see the hill that gave the city its name. Another tower, the Palacio Salvo looms high above the Plaza Independencia in the City Center. Under this square is the mausoleum for the country’s revolutionary hero José Artigas. Nearby Plaza Matriz is the city’s oldest square and home to the 18th-century Metropolitan Cathedral, the focal point of Uruguay’s Old Town. Soccer is big here and in 1930 Uruguay hosted and won the first-ever FIFA World Cup in the Estadio Centenario. Another proud local tradition is “parrilla" and the best way to try it is to buy cuts of meat in the Mercado del Puerto, and have those cooked for you on the spot. The 19-mile long promenade, La Rambla leads to the city’s favorite playground: De Los Pocitos Beach. To the west along the river is the UNESCO-listed Old Town of Colonia del Sacramento, with its landmark lighthouse, sleepy Plaza de Armas, historic Portón de Campo and atmospheric Street of Sighs. To the east of Montevideo, if you follow the coast, is Piriápolis. This beach resort offers great views from its hilltop San Antonio Temple. The next highlight on this road trip is the lighthouse of La Paloma on the Cabo de Santa María peninsula. On your way to the lighthouse of Punta del Este, don’t miss eccentric Casapueblo, a wonderful hotel and art gallery designed by local artist Carlos Páez Vilaró in Punta Ballena. Uruguay may be small, but its big heart and relaxing vibe create a lifetime of memories. https://www.expedia.com/Montevideo.d2461.Destination-Travel-Guides -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Expedia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/expedia Instagram: http://instagram.com/expedia Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/Expedia/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Expedia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on our travel blog, Viewfinder: http://viewfinder.expedia.com/

Take a 1,450 mile journey along the Colorado River
The Colorado River is so much more than something we raft and fish in. Millions of people in the western U.S. drink water that comes from the river. Millions more use electricity generated by hydroelectric power plants along the rivers 1,450-mile course. Most of the produce on our table is grown using water from the river and its tributaries. When you think about it, the Colorado River is so much more than just a river, its a lifeline for the southwestern U.S. In the Denver7 special presentation Colorado River: Lifeline of the West, hosts Lisa Hidalgo and Eric Lupher share the story of a river that has shaped the landscape for millions of years but is now having itself reshaped by people trying to harness its power.

Join us as we begin our Pacific Coast Highway adventure in Monterey by having breakfast at the famous Lou Lou's Griddle in the Middle. Afterwards, we explore the trendy sea-side town of Carmel-by-the-sea, including a popular fudge shop (Cottage of Sweets) and White Rabbit, a store dedicated to Alice in Wonderland fans. Afterwards, we explore 17-mile drive before driving southbound on the Pacific Coast Highway to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park to check out McWay Falls. We were not impressed with McWay Falls so we left and returned to Fernwood Lodge before heading back to our accommodation in Monterey for 1 more night. Now you can take a two-mile-deep tour of the Titanic : $100,000 a ticket : Cyclops 2 Submersible
Now you can take a two-mile-deep tour of the Titanic - so long as you can afford $100,000 a ticket It is the shipwreck that continues to have untold fascination more than a century on. And now the wreckage of the RMS Titanic will be opened up to tourists – at £86,500 per ticket for those willing to embark on the white-knuckle trip two miles under the sea in a mini-submarine. From May next year a London-based tour operator, Blue Marble Private, will run eight-day trips to the Titanic's final resting place. To make it to the wreckage, the intrepid sightseers will fly by helicopter from Newfoundland to the expedition's support yacht in the cold and treacherous waters of the North Atlantic. After spending two days aboard the yacht, they will endure a five-hour dive to the decaying remains of the Titanic on the sea bed on a special 'submersible', designed to reach the immense depths. Here, accompanied by deep ocean experts, they will sail over the ship's deck and should be able to glimpse many of its most famous sights, including its famous grand staircase. The trip will be open to just nine people at a time and comes with an eye-watering price tag of £86,500 a ticket. Taking inflation into account, this is the equivalent of a first class ticket to board the Titanic when it set sail on its doomed maiden voyage in 1912. The trip is described by the London-based travel firm as a 'once-in-a-lifetime experience and an expedition designed only for those with a truly adventurous spirit'. The first dive will take place next May and a second is planned for the summer of 2019. While Blue Marble Private is selling seats on the trips for wealthy explorers – described as 'mission specialists' - they will be run by OceanGate Expeditions. Stockton Rush, OceanGate's chief executive, told Forbes: 'Since her sinking 105 years ago, fewer than 200 people have visited the wreck. 'Less than have flown to space or climbed Mount Everest, so this is an incredible opportunity.' But he added: 'We recognise that the entire site is a memorial, and we undertake our mission with great respect for those who lost their lives in the sinking.' The company, based in Everett, Washington, owns and operates two five-person submersibles but is building a new craft called Cyclops 2 to visit Titanic. Renata Rojas, a 49-year-old banker in New York, has already put down a deposit for the trip, and told Forbes that it was her 'life's dream' to visit the wreckage. Only 140 people have completed the dive to see the Titanic's decaying remains in the century since the ship sank. The wreckage was not discovered until 1985, and the bow and the stern of the boat, which split in two as it was sinking, lie nearly 2,000ft apart on the ocean floor. The ship sank on April 14 1912, four days into its voyage from Southampton to New York, taking the lives of 1,517 of the 2,224 passengers and crew aboard. In recent years there has been a resurgence of interest in the Titanic disaster, which was famously depicted in the 1997 film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. In 2012, to mark the centenary of the sinking of the ship, the Titanic Belfast museum opened on the site of the shipyard where the liner was built. Last year the museum was named as the world's best tourist attraction at the World Travel Awards. What's a Nautical Mile, Anyway? | Azula
What's a Nautical Mile, Anyway? | What the #*&$ is a nautical mile? To make it simple: It’s 1.1508 miles. But why the special metric? Well, nautical miles use longitude and latitude for long-distance traveling. The nautical mile comes from cartographers using the circumference of the Earth to navigate at sea. It’s extra useful for ocean travel, where there aren’t landmarks and where distance can be tricky to determine. Have you ever used nautical miles for travel? Want more aquatic awesomeness? Jinjing The Penguin - Swims 5000 Miles Every Year To Visit The Man Who Saved Him
This is a story about Jinjing the South American Magellanic Penguin, that swims 5,000 miles each year to be reunited with the man who saved his life. The rescued Penguin was saved by João Pereira de Souza, a 73 year old part-time fisherman, who lives in an island village just outside Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Joao found the tiny penguin, at his local beach lying on rocks, it was covered in oil, could barely move and was close to death. Joao cleaned the oil off the penguin's feathers and fed him a daily diet of fish to build his strength. He named the penguin Jin Jing. Every year the Penguin leaves to the breeding grounds and then returns to Joao. Thanks for watching Note: Some say the penguins name is Dindin, but when I was researching this story, I found the Wall Street Journal had both a website article & a video covering the story saying the penguins name is Jinjing. ► Here is Article Link = https://www.wsj.com/articles/beached-in-brazil-a-young-penguin-finds-his-human-soul-mate-1445560828 ____________________________________________________________________ ► Wonder World Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/wonderworld.ytc.10 ► Wonder World Twitter - https://twitter.com/WonderWorld_YTC For business enquiries, content submission or copyright concerns or disputes, please contact us me

The 34-mile-long Zhuhai-Macau bridge opens in Hong Kong
The world's longest sea-crossing bridge connecting Hong Kong and Macau to Zhuhai, south-east China is set to finally open this week, nine years after construction began. The much anticipated Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge will open to traffic on Wednesday 9am local time. Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to attend an opening ceremony on Tuesday in Zhuhai. Construction started in 2009 on the 55-kilometre (34-mile) crossing, which includes a snaking road bridge and underwater tunnel, linking Hong Kong's Lantau island to the southern mainland Chinese city of Zhuhai and the gambling enclave of Macau, across the waters of the Pearl River Estuary. Stretching across 55 kilometres (34 miles), it is 14 miles longer than the width of the English Channel from Dover in the United Kingdom to Calais in France. Beautiful drive through constantly changing scenery, the ocean and sand dunes one minute and farms with markets the next. By the way the strawberry fields were unreal, driving along on the interstate at 110 - 120 kph and with the windows down the fragrance of the ripening strawberries was overwhelming. We stopped at a roadside market and bought more fresh fruit. We get California strawberries in our grocery stores but they don't taste like the ones we got there. Watermelons $1,99 each and strawberries $7.99 a flat... Travel a few more miles and another beach.. San Francisco is maybe 35 - 40 miles ahead.

Swimming in 1 mile deep sea & sailing in the Northern Sporades (Boatnotes - Sailing with Kids Ep. 4)
Join us on our first family sailing trip after Ponyo's refit! We sail to Volos when the wind dies and we go for a swim in 1 mile deep water. In Volos we pick up our friends and take them back to the Northern Sporades. After a quite rough sail with half of the crew unwell we could relax in a bay at an uninhabited pirate island. After 10 fantastic days we dropped off our friends in Rafina and set course to Athens where were we wanted to pick up some things and do a history lesson at the Acropolis. Enjoy, like and subscribe if you did :)) Music 3:07 Wilder Mind - Mumford and Sons Check out our website and blog and find lots of practical info on world schooling, boating and traveling with teens! www.boatnotes.de Follow our adventures! Lisbon Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
https://www.expedia.com/Lisbon-District.d178278.Destination-Travel-Guides From its days as a Phoenician outpost to its expansion into a 16th century trading giant, from the Great Earthquake of 1755 to its glorious reconstruction, Lisbon has long been a city of shifting fortunes.   Lisbon has forever been linked to the sea and it’s on the waterfront where you’ll find the city’s grand gateway, Praça do Comércio. Pass beneath the triumphal arch, a tribute to the city’s reconstruction, and drift down Rua Augusta to another of Lisbon’s great squares, the Rossio.   Climb aboard Tram 28, which passes some of the city’s most iconic sights, then climb the battlements of Castelo de São Jorge to see the red tiled roofs of Lisbon spread out before you.   Although the Great Earthquake reduced much of Lisbon to rubble, the ancient suburb of Alfama was spared. Lose yourself amid the cobblestones, where cafes, bars and artisan shops have taken residence in the dockworkers homes of old. As the sun gets low, join locals in a fado bar to hear heartrending songs of the working class.   20 miles west of the city is Cascais, a sleepy fishing village until Lisbon’s nobility discovered its golden bays in the late 1800s.  Another playground for Portugal’s Monarchs was Sintra, which Hans Christian Andersen called the most beautiful place in Portugal.   After Sintra, spend a few days exploring some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches, such as Praia das Maçãs, Adraga and Ursa. At Cape Roca, stand upon the clifftop, which until the 14th century was considered the end of the world.

Monterey, California
Recorded April 19, 1998. The City of Monterey in Monterey County is located on Monterey Bay along the Pacific coast in Central California. As of 2005, the city population was 30,641. This video begins along the beach in the city of Monterey and then continues on 17-Mile-Drive. 17 Mile Drive is one of the most scenic drives anywhere in the world. The route runs through Del Monte Forest and is seventeen miles of sea and sky, immaculate golf courses, and dream homes set graciously behind elegant gates. Here you will experience the magic of this legendary scenic tour thats home to The Lone Cypress, Seal and Bird Rocks, Fanshell Beach, Point Joe, and the colliding currents of The Restless Sea, as well as the natural habitat of the black cormorants, brown pelicans, California sea otters, harbor seals, and idle sea lions.
