Bracket - new product development technique to understand consumer priorities

03:32
To download free white paper about Bracket visit http://trchome.com/white-paper-library/wpl-all-white-papers/492 To learn more about Bracket visit http://trchome.com/products/bracket.html In market research, understanding consumer priorities is critical to product development. Developing new products is more complex than ever.More than ever organizations need to cut through the cluttter, and figure out what consumers truly value. When options increase in number or complexity, traditional techniques can fall short Bracket™ overcomes these challenges, merging a more engaging and relevant choice-based process with powerful individual-level utility scores that reveal both the rank order of choice factors and the distance between ranks. Use Bracket™ to understand priorities across your target market, or to zoom in on particular segments of interest. Marketers have traditionally used a variety of strategies to learn what people value and what they don't, from basic importance scales to more complex Max-Diff exercises. But today's complex new product development efforts often involve sifting through long lists of new concepts, features, and messaging options. Long lists typically translate into long and cumbersome surveys. Participant engagement drops, and their ability to sort out more from less important factors diminishes. You end up with little to no differentiation in the data, and that's not actionable. www.trchome.com

Product Manager - 10 Essential Skills to Master (In 2018)

06:51
Product Management is a fast-growing and niche area to develop a career in. Naturally, there are some essential skills that can get you to be the very best of the lot. While the need for Product Managers is increasing by the day - in startups, tech companies and other large companies alike - the supply in India is currently only limited to a few thousands and compares poorly to countries such as the US. As per the Google and Accel Partners SAAS Report, there are roughly 36,000 Product Managers in India and the number is expected to increase to about 68,000 Product Managers by 2020. So, the need is apparent. But what does one have to do to get there? How to become a Product Manager? A common misconception is that Product Managers need to only master certain hard skills such as business understanding, tech and data. However, this would only mean the job is half done. To be a successful Product Manager you must have some soft skills too. These include communication, negotiation and leading without authority among many others. But don't worry about backgrounds, as Product Managers have been known to have diverse work and educational experience prior to making the transition into Product Management. Ravijot Chugh, Co-Founder and Product Head at UpGrad, explains in this 3rd part of the Careers-In-Shorts Series what these key skills are and how one can ace them to get on the road to being a great Product Manager. Brainstorming Techniques to Create New Innovative Ideas

05:32
Brainstorming is a good way to come up a solution or two. As the name suggests, the idea is that you storm on the neural pathways through the brain to pick a lot of thoughts quickly and intuitively. It's best to do this with a group of diverse people, so you have lots of different brains to explore. This leads to the creation of more ideas and maybe new solutions.

The Art of Product Management with Sachin Rekhi (ENG’05 W’05)

01:07:06
Product managers drive the vision, strategy, design, and execution of their product. While one can often quickly comprehend the basic responsibilities of the role, mastering each of these dimensions is truly an art form that one is constantly honing. In this presentation I'll share my lessons learned over the last decade as a product manager in Silicon Valley on the art behind each of these dimensions of product management. Sachin Rekhi is a serial entrepreneur and product leader who has spent the last decade developing innovative products in Silicon Valley. Sachin most recently founded Connected, a professional contact manager that was acquired by LinkedIn in 2011 and re-launched as LinkedIn Contacts. He went on become head of product for LinkedIn Sales Navigator, LinkedIn's flagship offering for sales professionals. Prior to Connected, Sachin founded Anywhere.FM, a web music player that allowed users to upload, play, and discover music online, which was acquired by imeem in 2008. Sachin started his career at Microsoft as a product lead on Visual Studio, Microsoft's developer tools platform. Sachin recently left LinkedIn and has been advising early-stage startups on product strategy, design, and growth.

Product design and new product development

02:31
http://solidmasters.com Credits: Chris Anzalone, Fred Vierheller. Using these techniques and procedures allows for a manageable product development program. Good design cannot be applied as an afterthought like a coat of paint for cosmetics. It has to be an integral part of the development. That is why SolidMasters defines each product by analyzing its technological requirement before generating concepts. Ideas don't make the product come to fruition. It takes hard work to an idea into reality. Hard core engineering supported with the right tools and the right product development processes are what it takes to make your product a reality. Ten Steps of Product Development Product Definition, Concept, Initial Development, Breadboard, Final Development , Detail Drawing, Prototype, Documentation, Preproduction, Product Introduction. No matter how well a proof of principle experiment functions, it is at least ten steps away from being a commercial product. These ten steps are called product development and they close the gap between the engineer who conceives the product and marketing who must sell it at a price the market will bear. We provide product development services to start-up and fast growing companies and to established firms that need to supplement in-house capabilities. By employing solid modeling early in the design cycle allows us to accurately solve detrimental issues quickly. Additionally, we can analyze parts more accurately in the context of a realistic assembly. Analysis can be performed directly on the computer during the design cycle reducing the effective time of product development. We offer a full service 3D solid modeling solutions. We have the ability to design your product / idea in 3D CAD programs as if it were a solid object. You can see the process three dimensionally as the geometry is being created. This reduces your parts time to market, as well as reducing your chance of a product being incorrectly designed. In addition, once your product is created in a 3D CAD program, a wide variety of 3rd party products can be utilized such as stress analysis, animation, conceptual rendering, CNC tool paths, and more. The 3D CAD solid modeling platforms we support will link themselves to a three dimensional assembly and to a two dimensional drawing file, so once you make a change anywhere in the design process, all of the linked files will update automatically. This is a tremendous benefit in the reduction of error/failure rate for any design process.

This is a very complicated world. It’s a very noisy world. And we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is! And so, we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us. Now Apple, fortunately, is one of half-a-dozen best brands in the whole world. Right up there with Nike, Disney, Coke, Sony — it is one of the greats of the greats. Not just in this country, but all around the globe. But even a great brand needs investment and caring if it’s going to retain its relevance and vitality. And the Apple brand has clearly suffered from neglect in this area in the last few years. And we need to bring it back! The way to do that is NOT to talk about speeds and fees. It’s NOT to talk about bits and mega-hertz. It’s NOT to talk about why we are better than Windows. The dairy industry tried for 20 years to convince you that milk was good for you. It’s a lie, but they tried anyway. And the sales were falling. And then they tried “Got milk” and the sales went up. “Got milk” wasn’t even talking about the product. In fact, it focuses on the absence of the product. But the best example of all, and one of the greatest jobs of marketing that the universe has ever seen, is Nike. Remember, Nike sells a commodity. They sell shoes!!! And yet, when you think of Nike you feel something different than a shoe company. In their ads, as you know, they don’t ever talk about the product. They don’t ever tell you about their air soles and why they are better than Reebok’s air soles. What does Nike do in their advertising? They honor great athletes. And they honor great athletics. That’s who they are, that’s what they are about! Apple spends a fortune on advertising — you’d never know it….you’d never know it! So…when I got here, Apple just fired their agency and there was a competition with 23 agencies that…you know…four years from now we would pick one. And we blew that up and we hired Chiat\Day, the ad agency that I was fortunate enough to work with years ago and created some award winning work including the commercial voted the best ad ever made, 1984 (by Advertising Professionals). And…we started working about eight weeks ago, and the question we asked was, “Our customers want to know who is Apple and what is it that we stand for…where do we fit in this world?” And what we’re about isn’t making boxes for people to get their jobs done — although we do that well. We do that better than almost anybody, in some cases. But Apple is about something more than that! Apple at the core…its core value — is that, we believe that people with passion can change the world for the better. That’s what we believe! And we have had the opportunity to work with people like that. We’ve had the opportunity to work with people like you; with software developers, with customers, who have done it. In some big, and some small ways. And we believe that, in this world, people can change it for the better. And that those people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that actually do! And so, what we’re going to do in our first brand marketing campaign in several years, is to get back to that core value! A lot of things have changed. The market is in a total different place than where it was a decade ago. And Apple is totally different — and Apple’s place in it is totally different. And believe me, the products, and the distribution strategy, and the manufacturing are totally different…and we understand that. But values and core values — those things shouldn’t change. The things that Apple believed in at its core, are the same things Apple really stands for today. 06:17
In this video, Dr Cooper contrasts two projects around the same technology within a single company, one based around Voice-of-Customer (VOC) techniques, the other ignoring VOC entirely, and the wildly divergent outcomes that came out of them. Dr Robert Cooper (www.bobcooper.ca) is known worldwide as the inventor of the ubiquitous Stage-Gate methodology for new product development (http://www.prod-dev.com/stage-gate.php). Through in-depth study of the world’s top performers for over 30 years, he has developed unparalleled understanding of what makes companies winners at the product innovation game.
