One of the wonderful parts of being a Pro Rodeo Announcer is that we still pray during our opening ceremonies. Here is one of the most beautiful prayers that I have ever heard, written by the late great rodeo announcer, Clem McSpadden and voiced and added to by Chad Nicholson. Enjoy and God Bless America!

This promotional trailer for The Roy Rogers Riders Club was filmed in Trucolor on The Republic lot and paid for by "The King of the Cowboys." It was given free to theater owners as a promotional incentive for kids to join the club for which they would receive a membership card, photo of Roy, a pledge and a special comic book. There may or may not have been additional versions with different messages filmed, but this is the only version currently known to exist. During Thanksgving dinner yesterday a bright, young lady at the table brought up visiting churches and her worship relationship with God. This brought to my mind an old, classic cowboy poem by Badger Clark that was published originally in 1922. The poem was once part of my performance set but instead of interrupting the flowing conversation then with a recitation, I thought I would record it today to share with her and now anyone else looking for an insight into finding and having a closer, simple relationship with God.

Charles Badger Clark (January 1, 1883 – September 26, 1957) was an American poet. Charles Badger Clark was born on January 1, 1883 in Albia, Iowa. His family moved to Dakota Territory, where his father served as a Methodist preacher in Huron, Mitchell, Deadwood and Hot Springs. He dropped out of Dakota Wesleyan University after he clashed with one of its founders, C.B. Clark. He travelled to Cuba, returned to Deadwood, South Dakota, where he contracted tuberculosis, then moved to Tombstone, Arizona to assuage his illness with the dry weather. He returned again to South Dakota in 1910 to take care of his ailing father. There, he contracted tuberculosis. Clark published his first poetry collection in 1917. In 1925, he moved to a cabin in Custer State Park in the Black Hills of South Dakota, where he lived for thirty years and continued to write poetry. Clark was named the Poet Laureate of South Dakota by Governor Leslie Jensen in 1937. His work was published in Sunset Magazine, The Pacific Monthly, Arizona Highways, Colliers, Century Magazine, the Rotarian, and Scribner's --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
