Theater of hyperreality is an interactive theater that is played in both social media and real life.
Depending on a scenario, creates a most realistic atmosphere.
The actors (necessarily there must be more than one) plays scenes in real life, as well as in social media.
Observers are not only able to complement a spectacle through their reactions, they also have the opportunity to become a part of it through social media.
Even for people who are not in a place where a spectacle is played out, it creates the possibility of virtually permanent monitoring actors and making a personal contact (like adding as friends, calling in Skype, etc.).
For people who are in closer contact with actors, social media is helping for more engrossment into the story.
One of the main ideas of ‘the theater of hyperreality’ is to bring spectacle to the maximum believable form, then to mix real with unreal, and eventually start to be a part of the reality.
Spectacle includes videos, photos, literature, music, elements of performance, etc.
Spectacle has a clear scenario, but movable.
Spectacle happens only once and can’t be repeated.
Happens in real time and not limited by location.
Holy Porn was my first (trial) spectacle. It includes three chapters with subheadings:
The Original Sin
Blood for Blood
What If I am God?
The first parts of the story are about the awareness of personal sexuality, the initial attempt of controlling yourself, the search for the divine, and the hope to understand the spirit through the prism of
Hold Me Tight
Just Like Me
The first contact with something spiritual, sacred within yourself,
(Betrayal) rejection of the sacred in favor of bodily.
The Other Cheek
The return of the sacred and the battle between the earthly and the sacred one.
Main characters -
Elizabeth - The image of unformed personality.
Osman - the sacred image (the visual reference to Jesus).
Klim, Kenny, Semih - the man in the mask, the man without a face - the image of human bodily that includes all the ensuing consequences like fears, taboos, etc.
On the one hand, it’s a melodramatic story about a girl who can’t find her own place in the world and to understand what she really wants.
On the other hand, its a bit sarcastic story about the whole humanity, which is skittering like a hunted animal in an attempt to rein in its own desires and understand its purpose.
And the whole story ends with a question mark - «Did Jesus defeated the man without a face in this fight, or not ?».
In this project, I compiled the images of taboo, postmodern images, archaic, sometimes biblical symbols, and characters were only simulacra, but with real actors and with real observers which were involved in the spectacle, these simulacra, to some degree, had began to revive.
My personal task was not only to create the theatre and try to make the first spectacle, but also a trial on myself,
what it is like to be a taboo.
In the course of the script, my character was doing and showing ambiguous things
and through this, her social status and attitude towards her in society was changed
and thus it happened to me too )
By the end of the project, it can be said that everything turned out ok
The project worked like a distorting mirror… the feedback was very emotional.
