Throttle your engine or else put you to their snack list. The brakes are off and the laws of the road are not applied in this fun zombie-themed survival game called Zombie Road Trip. The aim here is to drive your customized vehicle on the bumpy roads somewhere around the wasteland. You must try not to slow down and drive as fast as you can to avoid getting caught by the zombies chasing behind you. The speed boost will help you get away from the zombies. Just perform back and front flips to fill the gauge. The zombies in front you can slow you down, so you need to shoot them using your guns.
Everyone loves a good zombie game. They're relaxing, and despite the ridiculousness of the premise at times, they can be a whole lot of fun. Throw in a bit of silliness into the mix with zombies flying from backpack helicopters, back flipping trucks, cartoon-sized hordes swarming behind you, and you've got a real winner. And the name of that winner is Zombie Road Trip.
Sure, the name might make you think the game is about zombies going on a road trip (which, now that I think about it, is an absobalalutely awesome game concept) but instead it's a game about a road trip where there happen to be zombies along the way. And with any game where there are zombies, what do you do? You take your guns and shoot the undead crap out of them.
The graphics are pretty good. No, scratch that. They're -really- good. Sure, you won't be getting any fancy 3D here, but you don't need 3D to make a good game. That's just what the Illuminati want you to think as part of their plan for a new world order. This game has 2D graphics, all done in a lovely style. Sure, it's a bit silly, but it works well. Think something out of a a cartoon, and you've got a good idea. You won't have any horribly nightmare inducing graphics here, but there will certainly be a few giggle inducing ones.
The music works really well with the graphics. It's hard, it's fast, and it gets you going as you race away from the horde. You've also got your standard shooting sounds, along with the sounds of every zombie along the way getting gibbed by either your guns, your truck, or even your turkey car. Yes. Turkey car. No, not a car that delivers turkeys, but rather one that's shaped like a turkey. And before you ask, yes, it is awesome. And turkey cars aren't the only things you'll get, there are also stretch limos, dinosaurs, donuts, and all sorts of other silliness.
If you've played a physics-based driver before, then you've got a good idea how this game works. You'll have to tap two different buttons to turn your ride around and over. You'll need to master these in order to rack up the points. The more crazy stunts you do, the better your performance will be. And that's not just easy peasy double backlips and the sort, no, you'll also be able to do stuff like smashing flying zombies out of the air, or landing on a few and squishing them beneath your wheels. One thing of note though, is you can't make do with just any jump and landing you do. The game will actually measure how well you manage your landing, so you have to make sure to hit those to the best of your ability if you want to get the highest possible scores.
And that wraps it up for this little review. If you feel like getting your hands on some great zombie shooting action ala Mad Max (with aforementioned silliness) then look no further. Head on to the download link below and grab yourself a copy of Zombie Road Trip!
