First Time In Africa: Ep 2 - Backpacking in Botswana & Zambia
My first trip to Africa was a 5 week adventure through South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia. captured in this travel documentary. This second episode sees me continue my G Adventures Tour towards Victoria falls. My journey continues in Ghanzi learning the traditional ways of the bushmen. Driving along the "elephant highway" we then explore Okavango Delta by scenic flight and boat. At Chobe River National Park we go on a sunset boat cruise and find ourselves surrounded by wildlife. The journey finishes at Victoria Falls in Zambia. Here I have an action packed week of white water rafting, helicopter rides and bungee jumping. --------------------- Watch more films --------------------- SUBSCRIBE to my channel: http://bit.ly/KarlWatsonTravelDocs Visit website: http://www.karlwatson.net --------------------- Social Media --------------------------- Facebook: http://fb.com/karlwatsondocs Twitter: http://bit.ly/karlwatsondocstwitter Instagram: http://bit.ly/karlwatsondocsinsta Merchandise: https://teespring.com/stores/karl-watson-travel-docs-store --------------------- Equipment --------------------------- Sony A7s: https://amzn.to/2NAqCJA Sony 28-70mm Lens: https://amzn.to/2O8IPgV RodeGo Mic: https://amzn.to/2ONrW8p Rode DeadCat: https://amzn.to/2zsuBzr Shoot Tripod: https://amzn.to/2O8w9q5 GoPro Hero 6: https://amzn.to/2NADsaE GoPro Monopod: https://amzn.to/2zrnEOM DJI MavicPro Drone: https://amzn.to/2zrPafg MavicPro Case: https://amzn.to/2zsINbs MacBook Pro: https://amzn.to/2NA2NSe WD Elements 4TB Hard Drive: https://amzn.to/2zsEpJo Software used: Final Cut X, Adobe After Effects --------------------- About Karl Watson --------------------- My name’s Karl, welcome to my channel that’s all about sharing my backpacking adventures from around the world, through fun, entertaining and honest travel documentaries. Botswana Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Botswana. Botswana is the largest natural paradise in southern Africa. Limited tourism, a combination of untouched wilderness and the comfort and luxury of a handful of safari camps, makes this Africa’s model country. Our journey begins in nearby Zimbabwe that is located close to Botswana’s northern frontier at Victoria Falls that is undoubtedly one of the most impressive natural wonders in the world. Eighty kilometres west and we have crossed the Botswana border and arrive in the first large city in the north of the country, Kasane, that is located on the Chobe River and marks the country’s frontier with Namibia. In addition to growing tourism the fishing industry is also important to Kasane’s economy. The river contains an abundance of fish and so the local fishermen are provided with a good income to support their families. Since 1915 Ma-Un has been Botswana’s main city and until the beginning of the 1990s was only accessible via dusty gravel roads, a border town on the edge of a vast wilderness. The state run Moremi National Park that extends for around a hundred thousand hectares is the largest nature reserve in the Okavango Delta. It is located on Chief’s Island, the largest island in the region. In recent years further private wildlife reserves have been established that are well worth a visit and are also strictly controlled and protected natural habitats. Amid the African wilderness we arrive at a luxurious lodge that is not only the ideal starting point for many safaris but also provides a good degree of relaxation after an exhausting day out. Suddenly two members of the San Tribe approach the lodge. These ‘Bushmen’ will accompany us on our journey into the Kalahari Desert that is also their home. Elephant herds on the Chobe River, the vast wilderness of the Kalahari and the mystique of the Okavango Delta help to make Botswana one of the last great paradises on Earth! -------------- Watch more travel videos ► https://goo.gl/MXPgSs Join us. 6 Things NOT To Do in Botswana
Get more Tips here! www.destinationtips.com Botswana has its share of troubles, just like any developed nation, but it’s also considered one of the safest nations in Africa. It’s safe, it’s gorgeous, and they have rhinos there... 1. Don’t Skimp on the Mosquito Repellent Malaria is a thing in Botswana, so you’re definitely going to want some mosquito repellent. You can also lower your risk of catching malaria by visiting during the winter months. 2. Don’t Skip the Okavango Delta This lush natural reserve is like the opening ten minutes of The Lion King. You can sail over the waters, and camp out next to the river itself, always surrounded by some of Africa’s most majestic wildlife. 3. Don’t Speed Through Maun On the western side of the city are a series of traditional African villages that are home to a welcoming group of people who’ve maintained a centuries old culture. The rest of the city is decidedly modern and welcoming to travelers. 4. Don’t Get Careless Around the Wildlife Most tour guides will know how to keep overly curious tourists in line. That said, if you do happen to slip past a watchful eye, just remember that you’re approaching a wild animal. 5. Don’t Forget the Kalahari Botswana is also home to South Africa’s most famous desert, the jaw-dropping Kalahari. The area is both beautiful and freaking massive and it's worth exploring. 6. Don’t Miss Khama Rhino Sanctuary If you’re interested in taking your family on a safari, then you should absolutely spend an evening or two at the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. Especially for those who love curious visitors... Where do you want to know what not to do in next? Comment Below!

Located in the Southern part of the African continent, Botswana is a landlocked country and home to one of the world’s biggest inland deltas, one of the world’s largest salt pans and has the largest population of elephants in the world, with more than 150,000 African giants within its borders. Okavango Delta, Botswana Safari (HD 1080p)
Okavango Delta, Botswana Safari - Okavango Delta Safaris - Okavango Delta tours Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube See in Okavango Delta, Botswana ==================== The Okavango Delta is one of the world's great inland waterways. The meandering Okavango River is breathtaking, seen either by boat, airplane or mokoro. The main choices are to go on safari in Moremi Game Reserve or stay at one or two of the many lodges. The animals, as outlined below, the birding, flora and fauna are spectacular. There are some amazing lodges like Oddballs Camp Media:www.okavangodelta.info, and Delta Camp. A trip called the Trans Okavango takes you from the top of the Okavango Delta to Maun. Tsodilo Hills a 10 sq km area UNESCO World Heritage Site [6] due to its 4500 rock paintings. It's about a 40 km drive along a good grade dirt road from Shakawe. Do in Okavango Delta, Botswana ================== Go. It's amazing. Fabulous. One the most magical places in the entire world. The budget minded can take the bus from Maun to Sepopa. There is now a river taxi that travels daily from Sepopa to Seronga and coordinates with the buses. If your timing is off stay at Swamp Stop overnight. In Seronga you can stay at the Polers Trust and enjoy the mekoro trips. Much of the area is divided into large concessions run by various safari groups. Development is strictly regulated so that there is little development and lots of wildlife. It is expensive, but worth it to stay in some of these permanent tented campsites. The guides are knowledgeable, and the accommodations very comfortable. Wilderness Safaris runs many great camps. They are all inclusive: two wildlife rides a day, all meals, snacks and drinks are included in the price. The University of Botswana's Harry Oppenheimer Okavango Research Centre HOORC was established in 1994 in response to the need to understand the natural and human processes that shape the Delta, which became a Ramsar Wetland of International Significance in December 1996. HOORC's multidisciplinary research teams provide the science to support the work of local, national and regional planning bodies such as Botswana's Okavango Delta Management Plan and OKACOM the Okavango River Basin Water Commmission. Flow the HOORC Library weblog, reports research and news relevant to the Delta. Okavango Delta ============== This delta in north-west Botswana comprises permanent marshlands and seasonally flooded plains. It is one of the very few major interior delta systems that do not flow into a sea or ocean, with a wetland system that is almost intact. One of the unique characteristics of the site is that the annual flooding from the River Okavango occurs during the dry season, with the result that the native plants and animals have synchronized their biological cycles with these seasonal rains and floods. It is an exceptional example of the interaction between climatic, hydrological and biological processes. The Okavango Delta is home to some of the world’s most endangered species of large mammal, such as the cheetah, white rhinoceros, black rhinoceros, African wild dog and lion.

Botswana Tourism & Vacations
Botswana travel guide, Botswana travel vlog, Botswana Tourism & Vacations Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Botswana is a land-locked country located in Southern Africa and bordering on Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Botswana is famous for its wildlife, areas like the Chobe National Park, Moremi National Park in the Okavango Delta and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve have a very high concentration of game. The bulk of the Kalahari desert falls within Botswana's borders and Botswana is home to most of the world's San (bushman) population. The economy, one of the most robust on the continent, is dominated by diamond mining and tourism. Talk in Botswana, Southern Africa =========================== The official languages of Botswana are English and Tswana. Kalanga is spoken near the Zimbabwe border areas, and is similar to Shona. The language of business in Botswana is English and most people in urban areas speak it, although in the more rural areas many people do not speak English, particularly the older generations. The primary indigenous tongue is Tswana, and is the first language of the overwhelming majority of the population. It is not difficult to learn basic greetings and such, and using these in conversation will make people very happy. See in Botswana, Southern Africa ============================ Wildlife is Botswana's main draw. Wildlife parks compose nearly one-fifth of the country. In these parks you will find lions, cheetahs, crocodiles, hippos, elephants, antelope, wild dogs, and hundreds of species of birds. Visitors can take safaris and stay in lodges running the gamut from inexpensive dorms for backpackers with tour buses to $1,000+/night private lodges with your own maid & driver. Among southern Africa's most impressive—and popular—wildlife destinations is the Okavango Delta where the Okavango River widens into the world's largest inland delta. Lying in the middle of the arid Kalahari, the swamps & water channels attract animals from thousands of kilometers around and triples in size (to 100 000 sq. km.!) during floods in July and August. Nearby Chobe National Park has a large population of elephants and it's also easy to spot many of Africa's well-known species, especially zebras and lions. The bleak salt pans of Makgadikgadi Pans National Park attract a large number and variety of birds year-round. Other great game parks include Nxai Pan National Park, Mokolodi Nature Reserve, & Gemsbok National Park. Most of the native tribes in Botswana only dress in traditional outfits and perform rituals for tourists. Nevertheless, for the culture-cravers, the villages of D'Kar and Xai-Xai have many offerings, including arts, crafts, and the opportunity to participate in various rituals. Tsodilo Hills contain one of the largest collections of rock art on the continent. Buy in Botswana, Southern Africa =========================== Botswana's currency is the pula', often locally symbolised as "P"; its ISO 4217 code is BWP placed directly before the amount with no intervening space. Banknotes circulate in denominations of BWP10, BWP20, BWP50, BWP100 and BWP200. You can find 5, 10, 25, and 50 thebe coins, together with BWP1, BWP2 and BWP5 pieces and 100 thebe equals one pula. In Setswana, pula means "rain" and thebe means "shield." Rough conversions were BWP10.61=USD1, BWP11.35=€1, BWP13.13=GBP1 and BWP0.78=ZAR1 in Jan 2017. Shopping For the independent traveller prices in Botswana compare to neighbouring South Africa. Notable exceptions are petrol and diesel which are about a third cheaper in Botswana, and alcohol, which is about a third more expensive. Eat in Botswana, Southern Africa ========================== Indigenous Botswana cuisine is similar to the rest of southern Africa and offers little to inspire. Beef is taken seriously and can be of exceptional quality. The braai is a popular cuisine. Stay safe =========== People in Botswana are very friendly and the crime rate is low. There isn't much to worry about on this front. Nevertheless, crime has been on the rise over the past several years, so always be aware of your surroundings. Basic common sense will keep you safe from the predatory wildlife in rural areas. Botswana happens to be one of the safest countries in Africa, no civil war, less corruption, human rights, no natural disasters e.g earthquakes or tsunamis.

Boat trip in Okavango Delta, Botswana
Music: https://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music One of the best ways to explore Okavango Delta is to take a boat trip through it's waterways. It allows a much more intimate experience with it's inhabitants, like hippos, crocodiles, elephants, red lechwe and, of course, the many birds that make this their home. We went on a boat trip from Okavango River Lodge, by Maun, passed the Buffalo Fence and on to the Chief's Island, and back. It was an amazing experience and one that I would like to repeat.

The most popular destination is Botswana, without a doubt one of Africa’s last real bastions of game. A land of contrasts – from the harsh beauty of Central Kalahari to the lush woodlands of the Okavango Delta. Adventure Films recognized the need of many 4X4 owners for more information regarding this beautiful country. The adventurers who want to arrange their own 4X4 safari to Botswana are sometimes skeptical of going, due to the lack of information available regarding facilities, accommodation, road conditions and many more. For this reason, the video “The Botswana Adventure” was produced. The video is not a wildlife film. The purpose of this production is to inform potential visitors to Botswana about relative aspects that could assist them in planning their 4X4 adventure. Produced by John Swanepoel. Adventure Films.

Africa Safaris and travel 2016 - Botswana, Zimbabwe & Zambia
African Safaris and travel 2016 - Botswana, Zimbabwe & Zambia - Africa trip 2016 Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Africa has 54 sovereign countries—the most on any continent—and is the second largest continent in terms of both land area and population. Africa is bounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, by the Atlantic Ocean to the west, by the Red Sea to the northeast, and by the Indian Ocean to the southeast. Africa is a vast continent spanning over 8,000km (5,000 mi) north to south and 7,500km (4,800 mi) east to west (not including islands) and contains a wide array of peoples, skin colours, religions, and cultures. Africa contains the world's longest river—the 6,650km long (4,100 mi) Nile River running from Burundi to Egypt—while the Congo River in the DRC is the second largest in terms of discharge as well as the deepest with a depth of over 230m (750 ft) in some spots. Tanzania's Mount Kilimanjaro is the world's tallest free-standing mountain at 5,890m (19,340 ft). Djibouti's Lake Assal is the second lowest point on Earth, the saltiest lake outside Antarctica, and one of the hottest places on Earth. While the first activity most people associate with Africa is safaris, there are endless possibilities for adventure. You can purchase crafts in markets, venture into the Sahara with a Tuareg caravan, visit pygmy villages, hike through jungle to watch gorillas, relax on tropical islands in the Indian Ocean, snack on exotic treats, travel down a river in a dugout "pirogue", travel across savannah on a colonial-era railway, and much more. Africa is a very diverse continent, with each country, or even each part of a country having its own unique culture. While it is common for people in the West to refer to Africa as if it was a single country, one should remember the sheer size of the continent, and that Africa is not one country but 54 different countries, meaning that it is impossible to make generalisations of Africa as a whole. Tragically misunderstood by many people as a land of poverty, corruption, war and famine, and simply as a land of suffering—a misconception only bolstered by the media and the numerous NGOs on the continent—Africa today is a vast continent with many bustling metropolises, friendly people, and amazingly diverse and beautiful landscapes. While there are some places resembling the stereotypical Africa of war, famine, and poverty, most of the continent is peaceful, well-fed, and of working class . See ========= Flora & Fauna ========== Many visitors are attracted by the African flora and fauna and several countries benefit from Safari tourism to African National Parks. Natural Wonders Africa is home to many famous natural wonders, from the Nile River, the world's longest river, to Victoria Falls. The continent is home to two of the world's four volcanoes with permanent lava lakes—the dramatic Mount Nyiragongo which rises hundreds of metres above Goma, DRC and Erta Ale in Ethiopia's stark Danakil Depression (the others are Mt.Erebus in Antarctica & Kilauea in Hawaii). Both volcanoes can be climbed by the adventurous tourist to stand at the rim gazing in awe at the bubbling lava below, an especially incredible sight at night! Landscapes ============ Historical civilizations While the continent's diverse and unique wildlife is often all that is mentioned in regards to African travel, as home to the oldest civilizations on the planet, Africa has equally impressive cultures and history. The most famous civilization on the continent, and arguably in the world, is that of ancient Egypt. From the southern city of Abu Simbel to Luxor and all the way north to Alexandria and Cairo, including the Pyramids of Giza, the only surviving of the original Seven Wonders of the World and the most iconic symbols of this ancient kingdom. Sites from the Nubian-Kushite Kingdom that broke away from Egypt can be found in Sudan, such as Gebel Barkal and many other pyramids in Meroe. Ethiopia offers many ruins from the ancient Axumite Kingdom where the Queen of Sheba ruled. The obelisks and Dungur ruins in Axum were built prior to the kingdom's conversion to Christianity, while many other great monuments, such as the Ezana Stone and the Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion, where the Arc of the Covenant is said to be stored, were built after the conversion as religious sites. Other famous Christian structures built later by the kingdom's successor, the Abyssinian Empire, especially during the 12th and 13th centuries, can also be found in Lalibela.
