Journey to the Edge of the Universe (Sean Pertwee) - Full HD 1080p

01:29:51
National Geographic presents the first accurate non-stop voyage from Earth to the edge of the Universe using a single, unbroken shot through the use of spectacular CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) technology. Building on images taken from the Hubble telescope, Journey to the Edge of the Universe explores the science and history behind the distant celestial bodies in the solar system. This spectacular, epic voyage across the cosmos, takes us from the Earth, past the Moon and our neighboring planets, out of our Solar System, to the nearest stars, nebulae and galaxies and beyond - right to the edge of the Universe itself. When you finish this video, you will walk away from it with an awareness that you never had before, of the unseen astronomically massive universe that we float around on like a spec of dust in the ocean. This video takes you on a journey through the universe as if you are watching a Sci Fi adventure. Yet you constantly have to remind yourself that what you're seeing is really out there.

The only Grand Duchy in the world. Over the next few days we're going to be exploring the capital of Luxembourg City and this is going to be a little city guide to show you some of the highlights. Located smack dab in between Germany, France, and Belgium, the little Grand Duchy of Luxembourg can be easy to miss if you're not looking carefully, however, we're of the opinion that this is a beautiful destination that you'll definitely want to make time for. From picturesque neighbourhoods with cream coloured walls, to dazzling views of blue rooftops in the Old Town below, Luxembourg City is a charming destination that you'll want to add to your European itinerary. So this hear is the Corniche and it is a pedestrian promenade which has been called the most beautiful balcony in all of Europe because it gets some spectacular views of the old town. So we are now entering the Bock Casemates and apparently this was the old fortification of Luxemborg and it was known as the Gibraltar of the north. This was once one of the most envied fortresses in all of Europe. Right now we're visiting the Three Towers which are remnants of an old fortress. We've been walking around a neighborhood called the Grund which is directly below the city center. And it is really picturesque and without tourists. So behind me we have Saint Michael's church which is the oldest church in Luxembourg. The first church to be built on this spot dates back to the year 987, however, the church was destroyed, rebuilt, and renovated many times over the centuries. The Palace houses the Grand Duke's office and during the summer months. There is no shortage of museums in Luxembourg City, so we took some time to visit the National Museum of Art and History. We are now looking at the Passerelle which is Luxembourg's very own viaduct. So we are now standing in William Square which is a really popular spot on Sundays and Wednesdays because local vendors setup shop and they sell all kinds of things from fresh produce, to flowers, street snacks. So final thoughts of Luxembourg. Alright, to wrap things up here it was a really cool city. It is the type of city that you can explore in just one or two days. A weekend type of destination because a lot of the attractions are nearby one another. And we just found it a very easy city to get around in on foot. So as a little travel tip if you're planning on being in the city for a few days we really recommend the Luxembourg Card. This is what we used while we were here and it is really good for public transportation across the city. Across the country actually and you also get access to seventy different galleries, museums, historic attractions and it is not that expensive. I mean it depends on whether you get a family or an individual card but we really recommend it because we made a lot of use of it. Our visit to Luxembourg City was short and sweet, but we hope this video gave you a little taste of what it's like. Now it's your turn: have you ever been to Luxembourg? If so, feel free to share some of your tips in the comments below. This is part of our Travel in Luxembourg series. We're making a series of videos showcasing Luxembourg culture, Luxembourg foods & Luxembourg cuisine. Music in this video courtesy of Audio Network
Voyage to Pandora: First Interstellar Space Flight

21:08
Pandora is the idyllic blue world featured in the movie Avatar. Its location is a real place: Alpha Centauri, the nearest star to our Sun and the most likely destination for our first journey beyond the solar system. Remarkably, it's anti-matter, the science fiction fuel of choice that could take us there. Normally, it's only created in powerful jets that roar out of black holes. We can now produce small quantities in Earth-bound particle colliders. Will we journey out only to plunder other worlds? Or will we come in peace? The answer may depend on how we see Earth at that time in the distant future. The year is 2154. Our planet has been ruined by environmental catastrophe. In the movie Avatar, greedy prospectors from Earth descend on the world of an innocent hunter-gatherer people called the Na'vi. Their home is a lush moon far beyond our solar system called Pandora. Could such a place exist? And could our technology... and our appetite for exploration... one day send us hurtling out to reach it? In fact, the supposed site of this fictional solar system is one of our most likely interstellar targets, until a better destination turns up. Pandora orbits a fictional gas planet called Polyphemus. Its home is a real place... Alpha Centauri... the brightest star in the southern constellation of Centaurus. At 4.37 light years away, it's part of the closest star system to our sun. Alpha Centauri is actually two stars, A and B, one slightly larger and more luminous than our own sun, the other slightly smaller. The two stars orbit one other, swinging in as close as Saturn is to our Sun... then back out to the distance of Pluto. This means that any outer planets in this system... anything beyond, say, the orbit of Mars... would likely have been pulled away by the companion and flung out into space. For this reason, Alpha Centauri was not high on planet hunters' lists... until they began studying a star 45 light years away called "Gamma Cephei." It has a small companion star that goes around it every 76 years. Now, it seems... it also has at least one planet. That world is about the size of Jupiter, and it has planet hunters excited. Perhaps two-thirds of all the stars in our galaxy are in so-called binary relationships. That means there could be many more planets in our galaxy that astronomers once assumed. At least three teams are now conducting long-term studies of Alpha Centauri... searching for slight wobbles in the light of each companion star that could indicate the presence of planets. If they find a planet that passes in front of one of the stars, astronomers will begin intensive studies to find out what it's like. One of their most promising tools will be the James Webb Space Telescope, scheduled for launch in 2014 or 2015. From a position a million miles away from Earth, it will deploy a sun shield the size of a tennis court, and a mirror over 21 feet wide. The largest space telescope ever built, it will offer an extraordinary new window into potential solar systems like Alpha Centauri. With its infrared light detectors, this telescope will be able to discern the chemical composition of a planet's atmosphere... and perhaps whether it harbors a moon like Pandora. One prominent planet hunter predicted that if a habitable world is found at Alpha Centauri, the planning for a space mission would begin immediately. Here's that star duo as seen by the Cassini spacecraft just above the rings of Saturn. To actually get to this pair of stairs, you have to travel as far as the orbit of Saturn, then go another 30,000 times further. Put another way, if the distance to Alpha Centauri is the equivalent of New York to Chicago, then Saturn would be just... one meter away. So far, the immense distances of space have not stopped us from launching missions into deep space. In 1977, the twin Voyager spacecraft were each sent on their way aboard Titan 3 Centaur rockets. After a series of gravitational assists from the giant outer planets, the spacecraft are now flying out of the solar system at about 40,000 miles per hour. They are moving so quickly that they could whip around the Earth in just 45 minutes, twice as fast as the International Space Station. Voyager I has now traveled over 110 astronomical units. That's 110 times the distance from Earth to the Sun... or about 10 billion miles. But don't hold your breath. If it was headed in the right direction, it would need another 73,000 years to travel the 273,000 astronomical units to Alpha Centauri. When it comes to space travel, we've yet to realize the dream forged by rocketeers a century ago.

Traveling by train in Panama | DW Documentary

42:25
The Panama Canal Railway runs parallel to the Panama Canal, connecting the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. The train ride is a popular journey among tourists. Although much older than the famous canal, the Panama Rail Road never enjoyed the same recognition. The maiden voyage across the Isthumus of Panama in 1855 was the first train to run from ocean to ocean. Its significance was lost, however, just four decades later when the U.S. opened a route connecting the Atlantic and Pacific coasts. Today a train ride along the old line is a treat for tourists. Ever since it opened for commercial operations in 1914, the Panama Canal has been greatly beneficial to the economy in Central America. Eighty-two kilometers long, it meant goods could be shipped from the Atlantic coast to the Pacific coast much faster; a single journey could be reduced by a good three weeks. From 1914 until 1979 the canal was under the control of the United States. For two decades it was then jointly controlled by the US and Panama and in 1999 full control was given to Panama. This incredible feat of engineering is the pride and joy of its citizens and generates around 40% of the national income. But before the canal, the Panama railway was the first to affectively connect the Atlantic with the Pacific. Today, 77-kilometre route between Balboa harbor in Panama City and the port of Cristóbal on the Atlantic is used to transport both freight and passengers. The panorama cars offer tourists a unique view of the canal. On the small islands off the Caribbean coast, they can also visit the Kuna, an indigenous people with a unique way of life. The Casco Viejo, the historic quarter of Panama City, is also well-worth a stopover. _______ Exciting, powerful and informative – DW Documentary is always close to current affairs and international events. This city guide is our best attempt to create a mix of best attractions and off-the-beaten-path activities that you won't necessarily find in a typical Milan tourism brochure. 20 Things to do in Milan Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: Our first stop was Il Duomo, which is the most recognized attraction in the city. The cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. So we've sat down at a little cafe and we're going to have our first Italian breakfast with cappuccino and sweet pastries. Something that surprised us about Milan is that there is a castle right in the middle of the city. Sforza Castle was built in the 15th century by the Duke of Milan, and it then underwent several restorations and expansions in the following centuries. Today it houses several of the city's most prized art possessions, including frescoes by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo's very last sculpture. For some upscale designer shopping, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is the place to be. So we just found a local little restaurant and we're going to be trying a traditional dish that is very popular in this city and in the Lombardy region. We are going to have Risotto alla Milanese. The Colonne di San Lorenzo are the remains of Roman ruins that date back to the 2nd century. They are believed to have been part of a bath house. Another fun activity to try in Milan is a boat tour of the canals. The city's canals are attributed to Leonardo Da Vinci, who in 1482 was called over by the Duke of Milan to help renovate the city’s canal system. Milan's Navigli District is one of the liveliest parts of town especially when the sun goes down for dining al fresco. So we've gone out for our first Italian Aperitivo. Which is kind of like a pre-dinner drinking tradition. Basically, you get yourself a cocktail for about 10 Euros and that gives you access to this massive buffet. And that's all for our visit to Milan. We hope this video will give you some cool ideas of sights and attractions to check out. This is part of our Travel in Italy series showcasing Italian culture, Italian arts, Italian foods & Italian cuisine. Voyager Journey to the Stars

24:04
Cosmic Journeys examines the great promise of the Voyager mission and where it will lead us in our grand ambition to move out beyond our home planet. The two Voyager spacecraft are part of an ancient quest to push beyond our boundaries... to see what lies beyond the horizon. Now tens of billions of kilometers from Earth, two spacecraft are streaking out into the void. What will we learn about the Galaxy, the Universe, and ourselves from Voyager's epic Journey to the stars? December 19, 1972... the splashdown of the Apollo 17 crew capsule marked the end of the golden age of manned spaceflight. The Mercury.... Gemini... and Apollo programs had proven that we could send people into space... To orbit the Earth.... Fly out beyond our planet... Then land on the moon and walk among its ancient crater. The collective will to send people beyond our planet faded in times of economic uncertainty, war, and shifting priorities. And yet, just five years after Apollo ended, scientists launched a new vision that was just as profound and even more far-reaching. It didn't all go smoothly. Early computer problems threatened to doom Voyager 2. Then its radio receiver failed, forcing engineers to use a back up. Now, after more than three and a half decades of successful operations, the twin spacecraft are sending back information on their flight into interstellar space. Along the way, they have revealed a solar system rich beyond our imagining. The journey was made possible by a rare alignment of the planets, a configuration that occurs only once every 176 years. That enabled the craft to go from planet to planet, accelerating as they entered the gravitational field of one, then flying out to the next. The Voyagers carried a battery of scientific equipment to collect data on the unknown worlds in their path. That included a pair of vidicom cameras, and a data transfer rate slower than a dialup modem.

10 Things to do in Nuremberg, Germany travel guide

10:20
Join as we visit Nuremberg, Germany on a trip to wander around with the aim of doing the best things in Nuremberg. As the second largest city in Bavaria, Nürnberg has a lot offer in terms of castles, museums and unique cuisine worth sampling. As a very walkable and tourist friendly city you can cover most attractions in Nuremberg in just a day or two making it a perfect weekend retreat. We honestly arrived without the highest of expectations but we left feeling as though we wanted to spend extra time in Nuremberg. Now let's see what this fascinating city in Germany has to offer a first time visitor. 10 Things to do in Nuremberg City Tour | Germany Travel Guide: Intro - 00:00 1) St. Lorenz Gothic Church (St. Lawrence Church in Nuremberg) 2) Rings for Good Luck (Nürnberg Schöner Brunnen) 3) Nuremberg Castle (Nürnberger Burg) 4) Sinwell Tower + Deep Well (Sinwellturm) 5) Nürnberger Rostbratwurst - Eating Nuremberg Sausage at Bratwursthäusle 6) Underground Tunnels (Förderverein Nürnberger Felsengänge) 7) Pretty Street (Weissgerbergasse) 8) Albrecht Durer's House (Albrecht-Dürer-Haus) 9) Bridge and Hospital (Heilig-Geist-Spital) 10) The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rallying Grounds (Dokumentationszentrum Reichsparteitagsgelände) GEAR WE USE Olympus OM-D E-M5 II: http://amzn.to/1OchS7t Canon G7X: http://amzn.to/1YdjsYX Olympus 14-150mm II Lens: http://amzn.to/1Y79zeM Rode Video Mic GO: http://amzn.to/1WDKtVM Joby Gorilla Pod: http://amzn.to/1PgoY5F SanDisk 16GB Extreme Pro: http://amzn.to/25KEErs SOCIAL MEDIA & TRAVEL BLOGS AUDREY: blog: http://thatbackpacker.com/ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thatbackpacker/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thatbackpacker twitter: https://twitter.com/ThatBackpacker SAMUEL: blog: http://nomadicsamuel.com/ facebook: https://www.facebook.com/nomadicsamuel twitter: https://twitter.com/NomadicSamuel instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nomadicsamuel/ Our visit Nuremberg travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Nuremberg Bratwurst, beer and pretzels), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting castles, churches and museums. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Nuremberg tourism brochure, Nuremberg itinerary or Nuremberg, Germany city tour. 10 Things to do in Nuremberg, Germany travel guide video transcript: We started our day by taking the U-bahn to the centre of town and getting off at Lorenzkirche. This put us on the south bank of the Pegnitz River, where we took the opportunity to browse some markets before visiting St Lorenz Church. This is a beautiful gothic church complete with pointed vaults, stained glass windows, and sculptures. From there we walked across one of the city’s many bridges and continued on to the Beautiful Fountain (yes, that’s the name), searching for a bit of good luck. One of Nuremberg’s most famed attractions is the Imperial Castle located in the northwest end of the Old Town. The castle is a testament to the power of the Holy Roman Empire during the middle ages. And we couldn’t come all the way to Nuremberg and not try the famed Nuremberger sausage! We went to Bratwursthäusle, right in the heart of the Old Town by St Sebaldus Church. Later that afternoon we went into Nuremberg’s deep underground on a tour of the historic beer cellars. Nuremberg has been a beer brewing city for centuries. While in town, we also took a walk down Weißgerbergasse, which may just be one of the prettiest streets in Nuremberg. This curved cobbled street is lined with half-timbered houses. Albrecht Dürer’s one time home is now a museum dedicated to his life and work. He was a German Renaissance artist across many mediums, but he is best known for revolutionizing printmaking and elevating it as an art form. At certain times of day, they offer a guided tour with an actress who plays the role of Agnes Dürer, the artist’s wife. The bridge we were looking for is the Heilig-Geist-Spital, or the Holy Spirit Hospital. It’s not a bridge in the usual sense of the word, rather a medieval building that sits across part of the Pegnitz River. On a more serious note, we couldn’t leave Nuremberg without also visiting the Dokuzentrum, also known as the The Documentation Center Nazi Party Rallying Grounds. And that’s a wrap for a our guide to Nuremberg, Germany. If you have any other suggestions of cool things to do in Nuremberg, feel free to share those with fellow travellers in the comments below. This is part of our Travel in Germany video series showcasing German food, German culture and German cuisine. Music: Love Mode by Joakim Karud https://www.youtube.com/joakimkarud

National Geographic Journey to the Planets 2 of 6 Jupiter

45:05
Journey to the Planets aka Voyage To The Planets Have you ever wondered what it would be like to leave Earth? To lose sight of our home planet and go where no human has gone before? Blast-off with Voyage to the Planets: a 6 x 50 minute documentary series exploring the pleasures and pitfalls of travel to the very alien planets of our own Solar System. What strange sights await you? What dangers must you avoid? Voyage to the Planets visits the planets from two very personal perspectives: the direct experience of the people who have sent probes hurtling to all our cosmic neighbours, and the viewpoint of any one of us who might dream of making a trip ourselves. Take a ringside seat to the splendours of the Solar System with Voyage to the Planets: an astronaut's guide to whole new worlds of possibility. A traveller's guide to leaving earth, narrated by Dominic Frisby . Jupiter ------------ Do you fancy blasting off to the King of the Planets? For a truly out of this world planetary experience, you should head beyond the Asteroid Belt to the largest planet in the Solar System. Welcome to Jupiter, a world so roomy that it could swallow every planet and moon in the Solar System and still have room for more. For 400 years, we have been gazing at Jupiter and wondering. Wondering what sort of worlds the astronomer Galileo had spied all those years ago? What would it be like to pay the King of the Planets a personal visit, to step upon its many moons, or dive beneath its swirling clouds? These questions were partially answered when the Galileo spacecraft slipped into orbit in 1995 for a seven-year sojourn that would prove beyond doubt that the entire Jovian system is worth a return visit.

Is Time Travelling for Real ? Compelling Pieces Of Evidences Caught on Tape Prove Time Travel Exists

From over a century the idea of time travelling has been thoroughly debated and researched. Well many of them believe that it’s not a possible but there are also those who not only believe it is possible but they have done it. So at first we have Rudolph Fentz - Urban Legend Fentz became segment of time travelling when in June 1951, a man suddenly appeared in the centre of New York City’s Times Square. People there confirmed that man was disoriented and confused standing in the middle of an intersection got hit by a taxi and was killed. When police examined the man, they found 19th century money in his pockets as well as business cards identifying him as Rudolph Fentz. Hubert Rihm, Captain of the Missing Persons Department of NYPD investigated deeply and came across and old widow. The widow told them that her father-in-law, Rudolph Fentz, had disappeared one day without a trace in 1876. The widow’s address matched the address on the mysterious stranger’s (Rudolph Fentz) business cards. So this incident left everyone with an enigma. Rudolph Fentz vanished in 1876, only to reappear in 1950. Did he somehow fallen into a time hole that had sucked him 74 years through time ? Time Travelling hypster A photograph from 1941 of the re opening of the South Fork Bridge in British Columbia, was alleged to show a time traveler. There’s a young man who seems wildly out of place. He’s wearing new wave sunglasses, T-shirt and he’s holding a portable camera. In era of big flash camera that man holding such a modern camera. Even the sunglasses seems to be modern according to the crowd standing around. Though his printed T-shirt is far more dissimilar than those worn by the other individuals in the photograph. Debate centers on whether the image genuinely shows a time traveler ? 1995 Boxing Match Smartphone Incident The first camera phone was sold in 2000, yet this video became viral lately proving that they have spotted one in the footage of a Mike Tyson boxing match from 1995. The clip appears to show a spectator standing in the front row using a smartphone to record battle in the ring. We don’t know if it is a time traveller or not, but no one can explain what camera it is ? A QV-100 doesn't have a silver bit on the right, and this camera doesn't seem to have a black line under the lens. Theorist say it could only be a human time traveler from the future or it could be just someone with a relatively new camera

Travel by cruise ship to Panama Canal (HD)

09:07
Travel by cruise ship to Panama Canal , Visit Panama Canal, Panama Canal Tours, Panama Canal Vacation Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube The Panama Canal is a 77.1-kilometre (48 mi) ship canal in Panama that connects the Atlantic Ocean (via the Caribbean Sea) to the Pacific Ocean. The canal cuts across the Isthmus of Panama and is a key conduit for international maritime trade. There are locks at each end to lift ships up to Gatun Lake, an artificial lake created to reduce the amount of excavation work required for the canal, 26 metres (85 ft) above sea level. The current locks are 33.5 metres (110 ft) wide. A third, wider lane of locks is currently under construction and is due to open in 2016. France began work on the canal in 1881, but had to stop because of engineering problems and high mortality due to disease. The United States took over the project in 1904, and took a decade to complete the canal, which was officially opened on August 15, 1914. One of the largest and most difficult engineering projects ever undertaken, the Panama Canal shortcut greatly reduced the time for ships to travel between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, enabling them to avoid the lengthy, hazardous Cape Horn route around the southernmost tip of South America via the Drake Passage or Strait of Magellan. The shorter, faster, and safer route to the U.S. West Coast and to nations in and around the Pacific Ocean allowed those places to become more integrated with the world economy. It takes between 20 and 30 hours to traverse the canal. During construction, ownership of the territory that is now the Panama Canal was first Colombian, then French, and then American. The US continued to control the canal and surrounding Panama Canal Zone until the 1977 Torrijos–Carter Treaties provided for handover to Panama. After a period of joint American–Panamanian control, the canal was taken over by the Panamanian government in 1999, and is now managed and operated by the Panama Canal Authority, a Panamanian government agency. Annual traffic has risen from about 1,000 ships in 1914, when the canal opened, to 14,702 vessels in 2008, the latter measuring a total of 309.6 million Panama Canal/Universal Measurement System (PC/UMS) tons. By 2008, more than 815,000 vessels had passed through the canal; the largest ships that can transit the canal today are called Panamax. The American Society of Civil Engineers has named the Panama Canal one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

How Dangerous is Deep Space Travel to Mars and Beyond ?

08:55
NASA has a mission protocol which says that if a Low Earth Orbit mission increases the lifetime risk of the crew getting cancer by more than 3% they won’t go ahead with it but the upcoming mars missions may expose the crews to levels that would be beyond that limit and other hazards, so how dangerous is deep space travel to Mars and beyond. Patreon : https://www.patreon.com/curiousdroid Paypal.me : https://www.paypal.me/curiousdroid You can now translate this and other curious droid videos, see my video about it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLPVgIytKyg With Elon Musk pushing to get men on Mars by the mid 2020’s and NASA looking to do the same for the 2030’s, just how much have we learned since Apollo and from the space stations. 50 years on from the beginning of the Apollo missions and we have yet to send any man back to the moon let alone on the much more arduous journey to our nearest viable planet Mars. Now whilst much of this has been lack of political will in the face of our own manmade problems here on earth, it’s also down to the increasing sophistication of robotic probes and landers and that they are much cheaper to make, launch, can go where no man could and can continue working for sometimes years at a time, the Voyager probes are still going 40 years after their launch. If we relied on manned discovery only we would know a fraction what we do now. With data from the probes which we have sent around the solar system since then, we have built up a picture which is far from the vision of just whizzing through inter planetary space. That and along with the joint NASA Russian experiment of having men in space for a year onboard the ISS, we now have a much better understanding of what they may experience on the two and half year round trip to Mars. We cover activities you won't find in a typical Florence tourism brochure, Florence itinerary or Florence, Italy city tour also known as Firenze Italia. 20 Things to do in Florence, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (FIRENZE) Florence: when it comes to Renaissance art, there’s probably no better city in the world to soak it all in! Our time here was spent viewing works by Italian masters both in museums and public spaces, marvelling at the architecture - in particular Florence Cathedral and its massive dome, going in search of the best lookout points, and eating plenty of pizza & gelato sharing the best things to do in Florence on your visit. We paid 15 Euros for a ticket that gave us access to 5 attractions associated with Florence Cathedral. Giotto’s Campanile, the bell tower stands 84.7 metres with 414 steps. We made our way over to our next attraction: the Baptistry. Known as both the Florence Baptistry and the Baptistry of Saint John. We continued to Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, which is a museum dedicated to conserving artworks relating to Florence Cathedral. It was time to climb the dome of Florence Cathedral. We ate our gelato at Grom and it was delicious. The Uffizi Gallery is considered one of the best museums in the world focusing on the Italian Renaissance. Most of the art collection you see today was gifted to the city of Florence by Anna Maria Luisa, the last Medici heiress. From Uffizi Gallery you get some pretty cool views of Ponte Vecchio and the Arno River from a higher vantage point. We visited in Florence was Piazza della Signoria, an L-shaped square right in the heart of the city. A landmark in this square is Palazzo Vecchio or the Town Hall. And to the right of this building, you have the Loggia dei Lanzi. Speaking of David, we did find him, over at Galleria dell’Accademia. Michelangelo’s David depicts the Biblical David carved out of a single block of marble. Ponte Vecchia during the 16th century that one of the Medici ordered for the butcher shops to be replaced with jewellers. When it comes to sunset in Florence, there are no better views than from Piazzale Michelangelo overlooking the historic center on the other side of the Arno River. This indoor market is foodie central with the second floor of the market is filled with eateries. Central Market is a great place to pick up ingredients to bring back to your kitchen. We hope you enjoyed this Florence travel guide and that it gave you ideas of things to do. Venice Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia

08:48
Rising from the waters of Venice Lagoon is the Italian city of Venice, a city like no other. Begin your visit in the central district of San Marco, and walk upon one of the world’s great squares, St Mark’s Square. The square is surrounded by some of the city’s finest jewels such as St Mark’s Basilica, St Mark’s Campanile and Doge’s Palace. Just outside stand the Columns of San Marco and San Teodoro. From here, journey along one of the world’s great aquatic thoroughfares, The Grand Canal. Glide past elegant palazzos; once the homes of wealthy merchants, today many of these palaces house important museums and galleries. Known as The City Of Bridges, Venice has hundreds to explore. The Accademia Bridge links the San Marco district to the Accademia Gallery, and offers some of the Grand Canal’s finest views. The oldest of the Grand Canal’s four crossings is the Rialto Bridge, which today still serves as the gateway to the Rialto Markets. The most famous of all is the Bridge of Sighs, which connects Doge’s Palace to the historic prison. Venice is a city to get lost in, so put away your map and let her surprise you. Discover waterfront promenades of The Zattere and the sleepy canals and spacious piazzas of Castello. On the tiny island of Murano, glassmakers have been creating works of incredible delicacy and color for over 700 years. Further across the lagoon, the island of Burano is famed for its brightly colored houses and exquisite lace. Venice has shone her light into the far corners of the world for over one and a half thousand years. Just remember, this city smiles upon those who linger. So stay for a few nights, or stay for a month, and savor every moment she has to offer. http://www.expedia.com/Venice.d179981.Destination-Travel-Guides -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on social media: Twitter: https://twitter.com/Expedia Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/expedia Instagram: http://instagram.com/expedia Pinterest: http://www.pinterest.com/Expedia/ Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Expedia -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow us on our travel blog, Viewfinder: http://viewfinder.expedia.com/
