Oracle tutorial : sys_refcursor in oracle pl sql (sys_refcursor)

09:53
Oracle tutorial : sys_refcursor in oracle pl sql oracle tutorial for beginners cursor in pl sql we can use sys_refcursor as OUT parameter. A cursor is a pointer to a result set for a query. By returning a sys_refcursor you allow the client to fetch many rows from the query as it requires. basically we use sys ref cursor to return set of rows to client. so client can use this result set. u can fetch multiple rows. lets see example.. CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE get_my_list (list OUT SYS_REFCURSOR) AS BEGIN OPEN list FOR SELECT ALTID, FNAME, LNAME FROM EMPLOYEE; END get_my_list; / DECLARE l_cursor SYS_REFCURSOR; ID VARCHAR2(20); FNAME VARCHAR2(20); LNAME VARCHAR2(20); BEGIN get_my_list (list = l_cursor); LOOP FETCH l_cursor INTO ID, FNAME, LNAME; EXIT WHEN l_cursor%NOTFOUND; DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE(ID || ' | ' || FNAME || ' | ' || LNAME); END LOOP; CLOSE l_cursor; END; / Subscribe on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpiyAesWNYOXSz5GPq8lbkA For more tutorial please visit #techquerypond https://techquerypond.wordpress.com https://twitter.com/techquerypond database cursor example database cursor sql server cursor

Performance Anti-Patterns: Non-query DML inside loops

14:03
Lots of code follows patterns. Some of the patterns are good ones, some them are bad - and these we call "anti-patterns." In this video, Steven identifies a common and, for many, surprising anti-pattern - and then shows how to turn it into a design pattern worthy of use. The anti-pattern is the execution on non-query DML (inserts, updates, deletes) inside a loop. The refactored positive design is based on bulk processing in PL/SQL. Along the way, Steven shows how this involves moving from row-by-row to phased processing. ================================================== Copyright © 2015 Oracle and/or its affiliates. How to Handle Exceptions Properly - Part 3

07:21
In this third video in the series, Steven switches gears to talk about to properly handle exceptions: build or find a single reusable logging procedure and call that. Only pass it variables from your current application state that cannot be obtained via built-in calls, like DBMS_UTILITY.FORMAT_ERROR_BACKTRACE. How NOT to Handle Exceptions - Part 1

06:43
In which Steven Feuerstein takes a look at several ways you should never handle an exception in your PL/SQL block. To summarize: 1. Don't swallow up or hide errors. 2. Don't simply display error information on the screen through a call to DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE. 3. Don't handle and re-raise without adding value (logging or doing *something*). Slides here: https://defcon.org/images/defcon-22/dc-22-presentations/Litchfield/DEFCON-22-David-Litchfield-Oracle-Data-Redaction-is-Broken.pdf Oracle Data Redaction is Broken David Litchfield SECURITY SPECIALIST, DATACOM TSS The Oracle data redaction service is a new feature introduced with Oracle 12c. It allows sensitive data, such as PII, to be redacted or masked to prevent it being exposed to attackers. On paper this sounds like a great idea but in practice, Oracle's implementation is vulnerable to multiple attacks that allow an attacker to trivially bypass the masking and launch privilege escalation attacks. David Litchfield is a computer security researcher with a special interest in buffer overflow exploitation and database systems. He has written and contributed to several books including the Shellcoder's Handbook, The Database Hacker's Handbook and the Oracle Hacker's Handbook. Insert images into Google Spreadsheet cells

03:14
This video is brought to you by Profound Cloud If you're a frequent user of Google Spreadsheets, you probably already know that you can insert images from the Insert Image menu option. This doesn't actually insert images into a cell, which is often what people are trying to do. The Insert Image menu option actually places an image on top of a Spreadsheet, rather than inside a cell. So if you're trying to insert several images into a Spreadsheet in some sort of order this isn't terribly helpful. Using the =IMAGE Spreadsheet function allows us to insert an image inside a cell, using the image's URL. This makes it really easy to insert images into a particular cell, and will get larger or smaller depending on the size of the cell (while maintaining the image's aspect ratio). There are actually several variations of this function that give you even more functionality: =IMAGE("URL") - image retains aspect ratio while increasing / decreasing the cell size =IMAGE("URL",2) - image stretches to fit all edges of the cell =IMAGE("URL,3) - image retains its original size =IMAGE("URL",4,50,50) - set the size of the image by replacing 50,50 with desired dimensions To watch the updated video and read the full article on the BetterCloud Monitor, visit: https://youtu.be/6WFdT2SX7QU
