Have no Secrets
Settling down on the groove with a new chorus and chunky tuning! "I’ll have no secrets - no place to hide away No treasure in a far off cave Or silent witness by the grave No moonlight midnight child will knock No strangers key will turn our lock I’ll have no secrets - or place to hide away No long lost Sweetheart’s lock of hair Faces dates that don’t quite pair No lover I forgot to list Forgotten names I might have missed I’ll have no secrets - or place to hide away No tokens carved with fading names Or portraits stolen from their frames No gift I should have thrown away And bonds that I forgot to pay Have no secrets have no place to hide away They’ll lie there waiting in the dark Then right on cue some careless spark Will wake them gently from their sleep They’ll rise up slowly from the deep I’ll have no secrets - no place to hide away I’ll never build this house upon A long forgotten wartime bomb I’ll never let you feel to that blast The shattered home the broken glass"

Piano chords for beginners: learn four chords to play hundreds of songs
There's more on chords in my book: http://www.billspianopages.com/how-to-really Learning piano chords and chord progressions can seem pretty daunting, but you can get a long way on the instrument by knowing just a few. In fact, you can play hundreds of songs if you learn just four easy piano chords. In this tutorial I'm going to assume you're a beginner and that, while you know the basic notes on the piano keyboard, you know little or nothing about chords, harmony and improvisation. I'll teach you four chords and a simple progression in the key of C that you can adapt to help you play very many different songs. You can also use this easy tutorial to start learning some bits and pieces of piano improvisation, and as an intro to some of the other piano tutorials on my channel. The chords I look at are C, F, G and A minor. The first thing I explain is the importance of being able to play these chords in many different voicings and inversions - the piano offers hundreds of different ways of playing simple chords, and it's important that you really get comfortable with find chord shapes quickly on the keyboard. From there we take a simple chord progression and begin to play it to time, starting with just single chords and moving on to slightly more complex, but easy piano comps. We also look at ways that you can start improvising on the chords to create more interesting effects, and also mention playing in different keys and learning how to pick out melody at the keyboard. A really important point that I make several times is that you have to practise this pretty hard - learning piano isn't easy, and it's really crucial that you give your brain time to adjust to the complex stuff you're asking it to do. However, with a few hours or days of practice it shouldn't take long for you to get pretty reasonable at playing chords on the piano. It's all about determination and sticking to it! If you've enjoyed this tutorial you might also like my book, How To Really Play The Piano - there's a link at the top of this description.

Learn 4 Chords & Instantly Be Able To Play Hundreds Of Songs!
Sign up here for MORE awesome content: http://bit.ly/PianoPigAcademy DOWNLOAD PDF NOTATION: http://bit.ly/TheFourChords Example of songs that use these 4 chords: https://youtu.be/5pidokakU4I In this beginner lesson, we look at a very common chord progression which uses four chords. These 4 chords are used in hundreds of songs! In the key of C the chords are as follows: C, G, Am, F Practice playing around with these chords to get them under your fingers. You should use different inversions and voicings around the piano. Once you are comfortable with the chords, you can add some timing and rhythm. Start by playing each chord and count 4 beats for each one. Then you can begin adding in different patterns such as split chords and arpeggios. Once you can do all of this, you can either sing the melody of songs over the top or work the melody out by ear, and play it in your right hand whilst playing the chords in your left. ******************************************* PianoPig is an online platform for piano lessons in HD, covering scales, chords, soloing and more. Guitar songs with just two chords
If you would like to gain full access to all our Guitar Teaching Materials please visit the Secret Guitar Teacher Site and take a free tour: http://www.secretguitarteacher.com/youtube/ssb.php?lp_id=406 Here's the video transcript: What's the point in playing songs that have just two or three chords? Isn't it better to learn as many chords as possible so you that can become a great guitarist sooner? Well, in my experience, getting too hungry to learn new chords is often the way beginner guitarists hold themselves back in their development. With upwards of 40,000 chord shapes playable on the guitar, you are never going to use more than a tiny fraction of available chords over your guitar-playing career! What will really make a difference to how good you sound as a guitarist is HOW you use chords. And the best way to develop quality of sound, and all the little details of technique that go towards lending your playing real finesse, is to play songs with very few chords so that you are forced to focus in on how you make those chords sound. So, in this lesson, I'm going to introduce you to two completely different songs that each use just two chords. Here's a great song from the early seventies - A Horse With No Name by the three-piece band America. The first chord is a straight forward Em, probably best played with second and third fingers to make the change to the second chord easier 3. The second chord is a version of D with the note F# in the bass. You might hear this called a first inversion D major or perhaps more commonly simply D slash F# or D over F#. And that's all there is to the chords - hard to think of anything easier! But there is quite a bit more to the strumming hand. The distinctive rhythm of the song comes partly from a two bar pattern that uses a bit of bass note separation and muting technique. Notice how bar 1 starts with the bass note hit separately and also how the emphasis switches to the upstrokes in the second bar of each pair. This sort of rhythm is deceptively hard for beginners to get, but I can tell you that it doesn't help to try and be too exact in how you copy it. Rather, I recommend 'homing in on it' by experimenting and careful listening. The only other tip I'll leave you with on this song is that the muting, is best achieved with both hands, palm muting at the strumming end...And a tiny bit of gripping and relaxing of the chord shape at this end as well Note this isn't lifting the fingers off the strings - it's relaxing the fingers so that the strings just come away from the fret wires that kills the sound neatly. My second choice of song for this lesson is an old blues tune written by Ellington Jordan and first recorded by Etta James in the mid sixties It's called 'I'd rather Go Blind' The chords are G and Am . Please note that if you want to play along to the original recording which is in A, you'll need a capo at fret two to make it sound in tune. We're playing this in 6/8 time which is counted as two lots of three like this. 123 456...123 456 though you may find it easier to think of each bar as two beats. It's fine to count it 1 and a 2 and a.. The beauty of a slow song like this is that there is plenty of space for you to experiment with ornamentation and a real chance for you to begin to develop some individual style to your playing. Here are a few ideas that I have found have crept into the way I might play this. So, in answer to our title question: 'What's the point in playing songs with really simple chord sequences?' You can perhaps see how once your attention can come off the problem of constantly trying to remember what chord shape comes next, and how best to play that shape; you begin to listen more to what you are playing. By concentrating on the sound, you naturally find yourself developing real guitar playing skills that you can then carry forward into the more complex chord sequences at a later stage.

Beginner Fingerstyle Guitar or Fingerpicking (or sometimes referred to as fingerstyle) guitar might seem a bit confusing when you first try it but, , fingerstyle guitar playing will become second nature with just a little repetition (practice)! A correct fingerpicking hand position (right hand) will use your thumb, index, and middle fingers for picking. In this particular beginner fingerstyle guitar lesson, your thumb will pluck the 4th (D) string and the 3rd (G) string. Your index finger will pluck the 2nd (B) string. Your middle finger will pluck the 1st (E) string. In general and depending on what chord you are playing, different strings will be plucked. But in this particular guitar lesson, we feature a two fingered D type of chord (left hand) which is very easy to play for a first time beginner on the guitar. Sometimes your fingers may pluck or "hit" other strings with your right hand, but try to stick to the easy beginner fingerstyle guitar lesson that is featured in the video. I have looked at 25 other beginner fingerstyle guitar lessons and honestly, this one is a lot easier. Just watch the video and play your guitar along with this basic lesson (great to practice with). You will find that learning the guitar is very easy if you take it in small sections and don't get overwhelmed by trying to do more. There's really no such thing as a flamenco chord, but there are flamenco harmonies and groups of chords that kind of go together in a consistent way in flamenco. A couple of things you might want to know is flamenco when you transpose a song in flamenco, you don't really talk about keys in flamenco. You talk about positions, A major or E, okay? If you need to move the key for whatever reason, because you're playing with a singer you usually do this. The capo is an artifact that creates a permanent bar wherever you place it, and then you keep the same position. The capo can look like this. They come in all shapes and sizes, but you always want to keep the same voices when you play traditional flamenco. So if I need to raise this key, I put my capo wherever the singer, wherever I decide to play, and I put my capo on a different fret, but I keep my same positions. Then this is how you work your keys around flamenco. You also don't really talk much about C and A flat keys. You just talk about where you put the capo in traditional flamenco. Now one thing you might want to know about flamenco chords is for example, how you finger an A major chord. A major is one of the most popular tonalities in flamenco. So this is how we play an A major chord, not with the three fingers, like it says on the books, but you're going to do a little bar. the finger one is going to cover strings four and three, and then you're going to add finger two on the second string, on the C-sharp. This way we have two fingers that are free to do other work around the chord. For example, now I can play. I can add my sharp nine. I can also add my seventh here, and turn this into a diminished chord and back to A, okay? So always get used to playing your A chord like this, so we have two fingers that are free. Another very popular chord that goes along with the A chord, especially when you play in palos to work in the Phrygian mode is a B flat chord. So I'm going to show you a couple of voices you can do with this B flat chord. You have your regular everyday B flat, but you can also do a B flat with the open B string and then you can add the open E, which is the sharp eleven of the chord, and you get a beautiful flamenco sound. You can also choose to move your finger three up to the fourth string and you get the fifth, but you leave an open G string which is a sixth of the chord and you get this other sound. You can also play this other voicing with your B flat, and this is a B flat nine, but with a fifth on the bass here and it sounds really nice, you go... Another substitute for the B flat chord is always the G minor. G minor sounds beautiful. This is a particular voicing you hear a lot. So from A to G minor, G minor six. So these are some voices you can do for your flat two chord when you play in Phrygian mode. Also, another very popular flamenco chord is the flat nine. Major chord with a flat nine, such as this. This is A or you can move this chord many different places. Not to confuse this chord with the dominant seven with a flat nine you play in jazz, like this. In flamenco, when you play this chord, you keep a fifth of the chord which in jazz usually you omit, but in flamenco you keep it there, because there's a contrast. You create a tri-tone interval between the flat nine and the fifth and you get that flamenco sound. And you also don't have to put the seventh of the chord really. Right now, I'm just playing an E major triad with the flat nine, which is the F. And there are some interesting voices for this chord, too. You can play it here. I can play two roots, my flat nine here and this interesting voicing with this chord. You can reach, usually if you have a capo, that's a little easier to move around. But just explore these chords. Flat nine is very popular, A with all the substitutions, and then all your regular chords; minor sevens, and majors and minors, dominance. So have fun playing flamenco chords.

How To Change Chords Smoothly - Step By Step Approach
Here's a secret of changing chords quickly and smoothly. It's really not that hard and I'll be upfront with you, nothing takes the place of practice, practice repeating the same motions over and over and over to get good at it. But there are better ways to practice than others. I'm gonna show you the step by step technique for changing smoothly, getting to the chord on time and standing like a real guitar player so for this example, I'm gonna use a D, G, D, A progression that's a 1-4-1-5 progression. You can look at some of my other videos if you need to know more about the chords numbers but not important right now. Okay, start with the D chord now I want you to finger the D chord and do it accurately. You should have a relaxed hand not close up in the air with a nice arch from behind the neck. Now take your hand off, shake it slightly, relax and put your fingers back on. All three fingers at one time now take a look at that D chord, take your fingers off, visualizing in your mind what that chord supposed to look like. Wiggle your hands a little bit and put all of three fingers back on at the same time. Now, practice that. It might take some time, that's okay get it to about with 80% of getting it just right. Don't worry about the 100%. Fingers all three on it at the same time, not like most of you do one at a time okay, that's okay when you just first starting out but I'm teaching you how to get from one chord to the other chord quickly and smoothly. Okay, won't you practice that? Common back and we're going for the G chord. - - - - Follow us on Facebook for more Tips and Tutorials at http://facebook.com/realguitarschool - - - - Now, the G chord -- same thing, finger to G chord, make sure everything is sounding right, should do that with the D chord too. Take your fingers off, wiggle more a little bit, visualize the G chord and place all three fingers down. Good! And relaxed, don't behind the neck, just enough pressure to make the chords down and no more. Take your fingers off, wiggle them, all three fingers back on. Practice that with the step 3. Step 3 is we're gonna go from the D to the G chord. Finger the D chord, strumming, go to the G chord, all three fingers. I'm strumming just to hear it all sounding. I'm not interested in the tempo right now. Fingers off to the D now do not overwhelm yet. Don't worry too much about this but I'm aiming towards as little movement as possible so when I go to the G chord, I'm not lifting my fingers way higher up the fret board. I'm taking the path that's closest to the G chord. You don't wanna do this, that's too far. You want a nice, small movement. Sometimes you're leaving fine a finger stays in the same place or can slide on the same string. Good! Leave the finger there. Don't take it off if you don't need to. G go to D now, go to G now back to D. Practice that and we'll go to step four. Step four, finger the A chord same as the other two chords. I'm using a three finger A there's many versions that's not too important right now which version to use. I just strum to make sure it sounding accurately. Finger off, wiggle around a little bit, visualize the A chord and see all fingers going just behind that second fret. Practice that like you did in the D and G chord. Back for step 5. We're gonna try the whole progression just a slow strum straight down, slow temple. Start with the D, four straight down strums -- 1, 2, visualize the G now -- change so don't stop back to D now slowing down (5:15) temple and A to D okay, practice that and you'll be ready for the final step. Now the final step in temple with a strum, I'm gonna start with a nice and simple strum just down, down, up, down, down, up its four beats so here it goes 1, 2, 3, 4, down, down, up, down, down, up change back to D now to A okay. If you have to play it slower than that until you can get the change in time at whatever speed you need too. You can always pick it up little by little then when you're ready and that's going smooth, you can add a fancy to your strum for instance (strumming). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bOrJCA4Gb8 - - - FREE CHECKLIST Wish you were playing guitar naturally and with complete confidence? My name’s ‘Blurryface’ and I care what you think Wish we could turn back time, to the good ol’ days, When our momma sang us to sleep but now we’re stressed out. Sometimes a certain smell will take me back to when I was young, How come I’m never able to identify where it’s coming from, I’d make a candle out of it if I ever found it, Try to sell it, never sell out of it, I’d probably only sell one, It’d be to my brother, ‘cause we have the same nose, Same clothes homegrown a stone’s throw from a creek we used to roam, But it would remind us of when nothing really mattered, Out of student loans and treehouse homes we all would take the latter. My name’s ‘Blurryface’ and I care what you think Wish we could turn back time, to the good ol’ days, When our momma sang us to sleep but now we’re stressed out. We used to play pretend, give each other different names, We would build a rocket ship and then we’d fly it far away, Used to dream of outer space but now they’re laughing at our face, Saying, “wake up, you need to make money." Wish we could turn back time, to the good ol’ days, When our momma sang us to sleep but now we’re stressed out.

Guitar Tutorial - How To Move Between Chords
With this guitar tutorial for beginners we see how to move between different chords. Practice with Yousician: http://yousi.co/X7qE302Emtg. When playing rhythm guitar, it is important to move smoothly between different chords, so that the chord progression sounds clean and nice. This is exactly what this video tutorial for beginners is about: learn how to transition from one chord to the following giving the feeling of a continuum. Following the video tutorial instructions, you’ll learn how to avoid unnecessary movements while moving between chords. For example, moving between Em and E only require one minimal movement of the index finger; moving between E and Am only require to transpose the shape of the chord one string lower. Practice this as much as you can, since it might be challenging at the beginning. Do this with easy chords we have learned so far in other guitar video tutorials: - E chord: https://youtu.be/G4AHYZp2RKA - Em chord: https://youtu.be/ouQ-O2Z-4qg - Am chord: https://youtu.be/qBr2cChakq8 As you’ll get better with this movements, the chords progression will feel more natural and the sound will be nicer. Never give up! What you'll learn in this video tutorial is valid both for electric guitar and for acoustic guitar. The way you move between chords is the same, you'll just have to adapt to the different characteristics of the neck of your guitar (some necks might make practicing slightly more painful, you can always take a break!). Guitar Chord Lesson: How To Get Clear Sounding Chords For Beginners
Guitar Chord Lesson: How To Get Clear Sounding Chords For Beginners Hey there, Tomas Michaud here. Hey, do you ever have problems when you’re fingering a chord, your fingers touch the other strings and deadens them or mutes them? Well if you do, you’re in the right place. You’re gonna love this video. Come on back and you’ll see. Hi again. Thanks for joining me. Hey, I got a question this week about somebody fingering the C chord and he says his finger is hitting the other string. This is a common question I get not just a C chord of course but I’m gonna addressed it using the C chord and this will apply to chords in general. Now first of all, there are some tips I can give you about fingering chords and I’ve done a whole post on this but I’ll just give the basics here and you can find my other post. I’ll put a link to it on my website so the first thing is you want to have your fingers so they go up and then angled back down. Take a close look at my hand here. They’re not flattening out and that’s what a lot of beginners tend to do. You see when your fingers go up and down first of all you less likely to hit the other string because of the angle. You wanna get to angle as much as possible straight down and the other thing is it is much easier to press down the string so up and down hand position – hand position. Secondly, you want to make sure using as much as you can the fingertip now of course these two tips are connected. The fingertip as opposed to the flat pad of the finger when you’re using the pad, you’re also flattening out the knot. Keep the knuckle bed and use more of the fingertip. Now it’s not exactly the very tip, tip of the finger. You have to play around with it a little bit but more the fingertip than the pad will be my way of saying that. Make your C chord, finger it the best you can, strum it. Listen to where some strings are deadens out, take your fingers off, put them back on, try to move things around a little. Don’t wait to get it perfect then take it off again, shake your hand out and keep doing that. Fingers on, strum the chord, see where the fingers are muting, move the fingers around a little. Get your fingers as close to the frets as possible. Even though that doesn’t usually make the surrounding strings mute it will make the string your own buzz if it’s too far away from the fret. As close as you can you can’t always get it up right there but as close as you can. Strum, adjust, strum again then take your hand off. Shake it out. Do that about 20 times a day for about a week or so. You’ll see that chord will get a lot better. The second tip that I have for the person with the C chord is you can start off with the simpler C chord. It looks like an A minor. Take a look at that. It’s just a C chord without the third finger so by not having the stretch of your third finger it does make it easier to actually get a good hand position. It sounds good too. The thing is you don’t wanna hit that fifth string that’s not part of the chord if you’re making a C. you’re aiming just the top 4 strings. Don’t worry too much about it but you wanna aim for the top 4. Third, find a guitar with a wider neck, now that was the choice I would use after you’ve gotten a good practice routine and then maybe try the two finger chord to start with if you need to. A classical guitar has a wider neck. If you’re using a steel string like a lot of people do, it’s a thinner neck. The classical guitar has a wider neck which makes the strings wider apart. It’s made this way so you can pick easier with the right hand but it does help some people with fat fingers to play chords, - - - - Get more on my blog at: http://www.tomasmichaud.com/home/guitar-tips/ - - - FREE CHECKLIST Wish you were playing guitar naturally and with complete confidence? Guitar Chords Buzzing - How to Fix it
If you would like to gain full access to all our Guitar Teaching Materials please visit the Secret Guitar Teacher Site and take a free tour: http://www.secretguitarteacher.com/youtube/ssb/Beginner/4BTIwwRYYpE/129864916-whats-that-buzzing-sound.php Here's an abridged transcript of the video: Do your notes and chords sound a bit like this? When what you would rather hear is perhaps more something like this This can be quite frustrating. You’re shown this diagram for a C chord for example And you dutifully do what it says… Placing your first finger here, your second finger here and your third finger here strum the chord …or pick it… and it sounds nothing like what you hear when you are listening to more experienced players. Well the devil’s in the detail. And in this case there are three likely causes of the problem. Firstly it is important to know just what you are trying to do when you place your fingers on a string on the fret board. You are trying to pin the string firmly enough against the fretwire to stop the string vibrating cleanly at that point. It’s vital to appreciate that it’s the contact between fretwire and string that counts. So my first tip is to always place your fingers as close to the fretwire as possible. That means here… …rather than here . Notice even a fraction of an inch difference and the sound quality deteriorates . Beginners often try to get round this problem of optimum finger positioning by pressing extremely hard with all their fingers all the time. …Notice the finger nails going a deathly white colour…as I drain all the blood from them with the force I am trying to apply. This is one of the reasons beginners so often complain that their fingers are hurting! So - practice with each chord shape you have learnt. Firstly getting the fingers right behind the frets and then adjusting the amount of pressure to use on each finger. The right amount of pressure is the least that you can get away with and still get a nice sound. The next problem that causes string buzz is when one finger unintentionally interferes with a neighbouring string. That’s what is happening here with this open G string. It is just being lightly touched by the underside of the finger on the D string . And the remedy for this is normally just to be a bit more precise with the positioning of this finger. Notice that I have a bit of room this side so a slight adjustment in this direction ensures that the G string is freed up to ring cleanly Now, we all have different sizes and shapes of fingertip. So sometimes it is necessary to hunt around a bit for the optimum angle of approach to make sure the finger doesn’t interfere with the strings on either side. A good tip is to experiment with using more the edge of the tip of the finger tuck your elbow in to get the fingers pointing more along the fret board like this. A less common cause of the buzzing problem can come from the edge of the hand. This is almost always going to affect just the top string on the guitar. And the remedy here is just to rotate the whole hand position, pushing out the wrist like this… so that you allow some fresh air and daylight between the hand and the neck of the guitar. OK so the end result of attending to each of these three possible causes of the problem is nice clean chords - yep even C chords and F chords can sound clean. And playing the strings one at a time like this is the best way to test that you have the optimum fingering position for each chord shape. Listen as you practice and keep making minute adjustments until making clean chords and notes becomes a habit.
