Get rid of back fat and build a strong back with our MAX/Shred program http://athleanx.com/x/get-rid-of-back-fat Upper back fat and lower back fat are common problems that women write into us about. They are usually looking for back fat exercises that will help them beat bra fat or lose love handles. But do ‘back fat exercises’ really work? You may already be aware of this but when it comes to how to get rid of back fat, the secret to burning back fat isn’t just doing a back fat workout. In fact, trying to spot reduce is one of the biggest things causing back fat because it doesn’t get to the root of the back fat problem. Spot reduction doesn’t work, which means you can’t just lose back fat without working to get rid of bodyfat in an overall sense. Another cause of back fat is lack of use of the back muscles, so in this sense it’s important to do a full back workout at least once a week to tone the area. But the truth is, if you’ve got extra pounds, the look of your back isn’t going to improve with back exercises alone. You’ll need to work with nutrition to get rid of bodyfat and reduce back fat in the process. Finally if you’ve got poor posture, that can work against you when it comes to the appearance of your back and accumulation of fat. So what can you do to get rid of back fat that really works? First nutrition is the biggest factor in losing back fat or body fat in general. You’re going to want to focus on eating cleaner and healthier foods. You can also get moving with cardio which will help burn back fat and fat throughout the whole body. Strength training the entire body also helps improve the muscle tone in the areas you’re working on, and helps your metabolism run higher meaning more fat burn. If you practice good posture you’ll also help to improve the appearance of areas that carry back fat. Doing upper back exercises and lower back exercises will also help reduce the appearance of back fat. We’ve got some great back fat exercises for you. There are 5 exercises in this back fat workout. You’ll want to do each for 12-15 reps. If you’re a beginner try to do 1-2 rounds of this back workout. If you’re more advanced shoot for 3-4 rounds of the moves in this workout to burn back fat. Hey Bonnie - Angela’s answer is spot on! Take the same approach she recommends with your diet. A small swap each week and lots of water, proteins, veggies/fruit and grains. When I gat a sugar craving - my fruit swap is ... ready for it ... pitted prunes! A single serving of five each and glass of water really drives that craving away. Go for low sodium products and it is ok to have a pice of pizza or ice cream or whatever you want as a treat - just keep it in moderation and only once a week. Mix in the exercise that Angela recommended building each week and you will get there. That weight did not come on overnight so to expect to take it off that way is unrealistic. If you have a bad day - it’s ok, breath, relax and start again! Good Luck! 😀

Angela Belton Thanks for taking the time to answer. Really appreciate it.

Hi BonieR, start walking everyday for 30 mins. Also start cleaning your diet out of sugars and carbs, consume more proteins and healthy fats, drink lots of water. Document your changes for 30 days. Then slowly start incorporating low weights and walks with inclinations. Keep documenting your changes everyday and you will start noticing your body changing and adjusting. Trick your brain and body with new and different routines. Take measurements and pics to keep motivated and track your progress. The key is to eat at clean as possible and move daily, and you will lose the pounds! Best wishes :)
