I tell you my story of how I got involved in computers & programFromming at a very young age starting from my earliest memories to present day. You get to hear about the people I met, the risks I took and luck that lead me down the path of becoming a Microsoft developer and ultimately a self employed video producer here on YouTube. Due to the video length I had to leave a lot out so if you enjoy this let me know and I will do a follow up down the road.

▼ Questions & Answers ▼
Q) You missed a lot of your computer history like Pentium, etc.
A) The video is already super long so I only included the computer upgrades that were significant to changes in my life. But I did go from a 486 to Pentium 90, then a 133, then a 300a, etc.
Q) Why didn't you go into more detail about your Microsoft Career.
A) I figured that could be a video all by itself in the future if you guys enjoy this. A lot happened during my 15 years at the company and it would be fun to make a video on it and talk about all the crazy up's and down's.

I have a math test to take in the morning I am a CIS major I suck at algebra and it is like an up hill battle for me. I can right code and learn code like no mans business and I love computer technology. I dream of a day I can work a job remotely related to computers or programming and contribute to my field of study.
The good old days. My first pc was a 286 16 and i upgraded it to a 386 sx 40 Mhz. When i went to highschool i got another pc. It was a 486 dx4-100 Mhz. But that was a lemon cause i returned the pc like 7 times for not working and i got another one each time. So my dad got fed up and we packed it up and he threw it through the shop and we got the money back. Then i went for a custom pc.
Great video I sat through the whole hour. Good story telling very inspirational, I know nothing about programing but I have other dreams that involve a lot of risk and this video helps in pushing me to follow them. So I just wanted to say thanks and I don't subscribe to much but you earned it today.
Just wanted to say. I only just found your channel after searching for scambaiting videos. And to me you're a real inspiration. I am also a heavy guy with a family and pretty nerdy into computers since the mid 1980s. I resonate with much of your story. You're a pretty awesome guy and you have great presence. Your videos are a lot of fun to watch. I'd love to meet you some time in meat space (is that still a thing? I don't hear it used much anymore.) I am pretty social media inept. My experience and understanding is pretty old school. The modern world is accelerating away from me at an increasing rate. My man cave is pitiful compared to yours. But I do run some decent metal. The handle wherewith I infrequently twit: @DA_Wills
you are a good man and I know what life was back then in a way I'm, like you but the only difference is I'm not computer inclined , But I now to keep, my pc in tack and running with all the spy wear and viruses, out there to day and I have been watching your vids now trying to learn,, more on how to keep my pc alive I no wiz but I did take some it tic , in programing with windows and I was always being a target being shot at being accused, of being a gang member , But none of the abovebut I envy, you for never giving up and making your friends happy, to help others to parotic, there computers and ty for taking time to read this . Mr. Ramirez ...... I will be looking forward to seeing more of you video's n ty ....
Seeing you make this video about how you got through your daily struggles as a teenager is extremely inspiring to me, because, not to be rude or anything, I am in a better position then you may have been as a teenager. But the fact that you sat down and put yourself forward to apply yourself to your passions and take risks that many people wouldn't take today is really motivating to me, and not only is it motivating it just gives me another reason not to take things for granted and to be more appreciative of the things that I have, whether it be my computer or even time with my family. I really enjoyed the entirety of this video and I really hope you have a good one. But before I go I have to ask, what kind of coffee did you have? XD
Barnacules dont be so hard on you, i saw your other videos about failing with losing weight. Belive me i was there too, i dont have kids and house like you. But from experience i can say, small steps is the way too go. You have an amazing story and inspiring. I watched your vids, and other in tech/computers/gaming and havent yet found a desent job but where i have started is much better than where i was before. I learned so much and still learning just by doing the things i love. I work as a consult what ever you want call it but i work in IT and it is much better paid than working in production/industry. I love everything about it and found great coworkers and cool boss. Since 6 years ago i didnt know nothing about it and now i repair and sell computers. Most of the time i dont even know what i am working with but googling and researching i learn how to fix. My next step is learning to code and advance in programing. I feel so passionate about helping others with their tech and i know how important it is today in a age of technology. I couldnt buy any stuff to learn and started to pick up parts and fix from scrapyard and dumpsters. I took out parts and build a medium gaming pc. I got my self other jobs like photograf and started to work on birthdays and events. I feel so blessed even if the way was long and hard, not knowing how to get money for food and for rent i managed always some how with help of friends and family who supported me. Not many people knew my hardship with money and how much i failed, but it was worth it and standing now and remembering how i started, with watching your videos and other tech channels i feel so lucky to find people with similar struggles. Now i get by even better and i have so much expecience so i can apply other jobs. I will start a channel my self and build parts from what ever i could find. I wish you the best for you and your family. Blessings// Wilson
That sounds like to me, that your "friend" John was the one who broke into your house after he moved out. And dumped garbage in your bed because he was bitter that you fired him? Just a thought.
Awesome story by the way, I've watched this video at least 3 times!
I did 11.5 years at IBM in manufacturing of PCBs when I was downsized out in 1992. I was there during the early days of the PC revolution. I know what you went through as my life was similar in some ways. Good luck and keep moving forward!
I watched this video today - July 9, 2018! Jerry, I like you as a human being, you are genuine, and you are someone who has paid his dues. I share a lot of your early computer escapades, like my first "computer" was the TI 99/4A! I learned BASIC on that beast, and I remember writing games, and a Farsi word processor. I am very impressed with how you've made a lot of lemonade from a lot of lemons in your life, and I really hope that with all the good work you've done, that you continue to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Keep doing what you're doing brother, and enjoy your moments with your family!
Remember GEnie and Compuserve? Large community BBS’s. At 23 years old My first computer was a Commodore 64 in 1983. Then I bought an Amiga 1000 and got into 3D animation. My career today I’m a CAD Manager at a large company using Autodesk Inventor - 3D CAD.
Wow, you and I had very similar experiences growing up. My first computer experience was the classroom computer, the TRS-80 Color Computer 2 in 3rd grade, and in 4th grade we had a TRS-80 Model III, and that's when I learned to program. Went down a similar path as you. Did the BBS thing, had my own BBS for about 6 years. Had to buy my own Computer with a paper route job (It was a Tandy CoCo 3). I didn't get my first PC until the high school donated an 8088 to me, and then after a summer job, got my first new PC, a 486 DX2/66. When you said that in your video, I was like, me too! I also grew up in Washington State as well. I also had a few computer jobs with mom & pop type places. A big difference was that you got that Microsoft job and I didn't. I too, it was about 2002 I think, had an interview with Microsoft, through a friend, through Volt as well, and I actually got an interview for audio testing, but one thing with me is I do not interview well. I get nervous and tend to babble. I didn't get past the first stage. However, maybe it wasn't meant to be. I hit a really bad period, was back with my parents, and decided to change my career. I went to school for animation, and now I'm a professional 2D animator. I still do computer and electronics as a hobby, and in fact I made 2 Atari 2600 homebrew games, Princess Rescue (homage to SMB) and Zippy the Porcupine (homage to Sonic).
DUDE whats UP with the NEW WINDOWS 10 UPDATE??? Windows 1803.... MY PC is so fucked up and Glitchy now ever since the update!!! Can't even play games Right This New (Blury option) is Freaking everything up!!!! LET US Know WHAT THE DEAL IS????
Barely seeing this video and I gotta say within the one hour watching(and yes I watched ever second lol) you put me in a better mood. I have a bad habit of giving up on the things that I am passionate about because of difficulty with the business side of things or difficulty with other people that I end up having to deal with. Hearing your story makes me wanna keep pushing though. Thank you for sharing this story and for the constant great content that you continue to put out. Wish you the best of luck and hope you become more and more successful as time goes on. You definitely deserve it man.
Do not regret watching this video over a movie ❤️❤️❤️
