The Art of War is the most influential treatise on war ever written, consisting of 13 chapters each of which is devoted to one aspect of warfare, it has shaped the way in which conflicts have been fought for thousands of years from the Japanese samurai to the Napoleonic war. Not only has the book influenced military commanders and generals all over the world, it has had resounding effects on politics, sports and business to this day.
In this video, we give key examples of Sun Tzu's most influential philosophies and strategies. These range from the Vietnam War to the coasts of Normandy in 1944.

What's your favourite Sun Tzu quote? Comment down below and let us know! “Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.” - Sun Tzu
dude...........or should i alrdy say "idiot"...? the name is spoken more like "soon" then "sun". i will never understand why u brits/muricans can't write letters as u speak them, but pls, try "su(h)n", he is not the star in the sky, his name is su'n! like "soon", but shorter! i mean if u speak out the name "sue" u guys suddenly manage it, so why not on "sun tzu" ??
Juan Juan: if a commander really wants to win, s/he should study Count Alan Rufus, who won over the utterly defeated to his side, rebuilt their country, created new institutions, retrained their survivors and led them to new victories and ultimately global greatness.
US lost about 60,000, Vietcong lost about 500,000... Feel free to check that as most numbers show Vietcong losing around a million.. US didn't lose that war. USA went into their house under the rules of warfare that prohibited them from firing until fired upon in many cases and still mopped the floor with the vietcong. American voters forced US forces to withdraw. In other words, the USA lost to itself in the Vietnam war.... Same thing that happened in the civil war. USA hasn't lost a war to anybody else yet.
Deception ? .. It is not whether you win, or lose, but how you play the game... If you believe death is a certainty... would you really want to go out, living underground like an ant ? 3:00 Samurai are respected because, .. they are cool... but burrowing underground like ants... no thanks. "Hello air support? Drop the napalm.. no men here." .... That said, war seems to be about promoting democracy - one person, one vote - while reducing the male population, to get to a gentler, kinder nation... one in which when a fellow honks his smart car horn at a woman walking on the street, she assumes it must be an irate driver attempting to navigate traffic. "Me so stupid.
I should have bought the Mustang.".....You ever wonder, of all possible targets, why the WTC ? And why send two planes rather than one only ? Seems pointless, the second plane, if all they wished to do was send a message. And why did God permit those planes to hit ? So that the war on terror, begin ? .. Oh well, you cannot reach persons with the Gospel if they do not desire to hear it. As Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice, and a stranger's voice they will not follow. See, Romans X : 9-11 , king james version.
Maybe a century from now, scientists will look back at the war in Vietnam and the
terrorist attack known simply as 9-11, as part of man's evolutionary progress ?
The crime of the West and of Europe and of the Israelis is that they claimed to know God, claimed to know the Lord's Christ, but what came out of their mouths were sermons extolling the virtues of eugenics, rape (the forced impregnation of females),
slavery, mass murder, theft of land and property, et cetra. They hate God , love satan, and they blaspheme constantly. And when He sends his servants, they call them child abusers, homosexuals, lgbtq, and other such labels do they assign them. Is not the pope in rome, and pastors, priests associated with southern baptists, j w dot org, mormons, imams and rabbis, et cetra, guilty of calling the holy ghost a liar (which is an unforgiveable sin), or are these all merely ignorant of His Word? Maybe God has done this to them, so that they be signs to the rest os us - go not in these directions ? Seek ye Truth and Love rather ?
i dont think the vietcong had minimal casualties, they were killed and wounded in great numbers. Not endorsing the war itself, but forcing the commies to stop invading the south was hampered by the rules of engagement set by johnson. If the US had been aggresive in the north early on and kept it on, the north would have given in.
War isn't a game or art.
There's no battles. Only 1 Victor who has the war won... but he's allowing all the children, naive enough to think they're winning battles against him, to repent and taste victory with him. #JAKEROJAS #JESUSLIVES #BALLS
The Art of War book is a bit more complex than this post tells, but true enough in its principles. But it is of its time, now there is more to factors in, such as global politics, advanced weaponry and instant global communications.
The assertion that the North Vietnamese' military strategy is what resulted in America's withdrawal during the Vietnam War is disingenuous at best. For one, the North Vietnamese military casualty count reached near a million, whereas the Americans suffered approximately 50K. Secondly, the American withdrawal was largely due to propaganda fed to the domestic population, coupled with already negative sentiment against a draft. Although the Art of War is a very important set of teachings that can be applied to a wide range of subject matter, applying it the way that you did regarding the Vietnam War does everyone a disservice.
Does the presumption of winning serve anything more than the ego. Perhaps, but history illustrates- not for long.
No war could ever truly serve as a lesson for love. Does a victor rest triumphant in their own losses?
Our military leadership argues that the science of war will always defeat the art of war.
Which is only logical since science has no light, warmth, love, joy, magic, meaning and wisdom. Making crimes against humanity that has no light, warmth, love, magic, beauty, meaning or wisdom .
2:27. If the Vietnamese actually knew the art of war, they would have had less casualties than the US, but no. 1.1 million Vietnamese died while only 58,000 American soldiers died. The only reason why the US lost Vietnam was because when the Democrats took over Congress, they stopped funding the US and South Vietnamese military.
Is admirable how formidable the Germans were that the only thing that was able to defeat was that the multiple of the world strongest nation had to band together to defeat them.
The allies used Russians as a meat shield not wonder why they were pissed off after the war.
When you are business trip far away, you must convince your wife you are near, so she won’t cheat on you.
When you are nearby, you must convince your wife you are far away, so you can catch them on bed!
Long time ago I had come across a quote. I can't remember the exact wordings but it was something like," When a single soldier gets surrounded by the enemy forces and his death is imminent he must become a monster/demon and fight like one that nobody has ever seen before in their lives." Is there anybody who knows the full exact quote. Was it by Sun tzu? Or some one else? I think this quote just means you can accomplish anything. If you have the determination of a demon and become hell bent, relentless and just go crazy at your opponent.
