In today's video, Ben, from EveryMan Image Consulting, shows us all of the main fits of mens jeans. After watching this guide, you should be able to select the fit that is most appropriate for your body type and stature.
Loose/Relaxed Fit Jeans - Wide throughout the leg and fit loosely throughout. These jeans fit lazily and look lazy too. They give you a square shape overall and benefit no mans body. I wouldn't recommend these for any man.
Bootcut Jeans - Similar to Loose fit. Slightly tighter in the thigh, but much wider towards the calf area. Great if you are wearing wellies and have aspirations to dress like you're from the 1970's. Terrible for anything else. Women mainly wear these, and that's for a reason. I wouldn't recommend these for any man.
Straight Cut Jeans - Here we are in more acceptable territory. These are like loose fit jeans but slightly slimmer throughout. There are my choice for the older gentleman who doesn't want to look too contemporary.
Slim Fit Jeans - In my opinion, the best jeans option on the market for the majority of men. These jeans are more cut to the leg and show off your figure in a good way. They have a more aesthetically pleasing look and can make any guy look great!
Skinny Fit Jeans - These are one of the tightest fits on offer. They are slightly tighter than slim fit jeans. These look great on skinny guys but dreadful on men carrying extra weight. These are my choice for slimmer men.
Spray on/super skinny fit jeans - These are horrific. Woman's jeans with the 'mens' label on basically. They are too tight in my opinion. If you want to look like a stick insect these are definitely the way to go. Not recommended for any man.
What do you recommend for men with larger than average thighs? I've given up on trying to minimize them and started weight training to balance out my torso and get that defined V look (or X in my case).
I guess there's a cultural disconnect here. My bootcut jeans are fitted around my thighs, and are essentially slim/straight cut jeans that are cut for boots. Particularly good in a dark wash for dress boots and a sport coat. Maybe it's the brand, idk.
Thank you so much for this information. I'm an older guy and was never into fashion, but as I get older, I now know that appearance will have a great affect on how people treat you... Thanks again for such great information.
One thing that really bothers me with picking jeans is being comfortable both standing and sitting. Usually if I'm sitting they are too tight. That's why I never go for slim and tighter, even tho they would look better.
Like the video and like he said it depends on body type. I have huge legs, relaxed fit fits me like slim fit on most people (I hate too loose fitting clothes) and straight fit well I can’t get up my leg, unless I go 6” wider in the waist. My point is pick the look you like and get the fit to make that happen... I like the slim look that he showed but it takes relaxed to make that happen
Relaxed/Straight Cut >> ALL IRonically the "Slim Fit" clothing is not at all comfortable to me and i'm a skinny dude! And its just my opinion but Skinny jeans DO NOT LOOK GOOD on most men i've seen. Its really hilarious people act like that's so trendy, when it only works for like 10% of men. Everyone else just end up look like lesbian hipsters.
Very educational video. Remember that every brand have different fits for their jeans. I just purchased a super skinny that looks like a skinny from this this video. Always follow your legs and fit accordingly.
Very important is the to get the size right - the straight cut (or slim cut) looks great on most men IF they get the right size (also length). most ridiculous are men that try to fit in jeans that are too small or too big for them - ending up looking like a joke and no woman takes another look at them (maybe only to make sure they're not having a nightmare). Skinny jeans don't fit most men, same is with baggy jeans (especially if they're baggy because of the wrong size). Even a good bum and fancy footwear can't save a guy in (super) skinny jeans. In addition, skinny jeans make your feet look large - making you look like a duck.
I work in jeans allot where I bend over or sometimes squat to pick up things. Flexibility is important to me. Slim fit jeans are too butt crack prone for my manliness and could split at the crotch seam. It's happened to me.
Function over fashion style is my tagline. My jeans get dirty all the time. I'll take whatever jeans for my waist.
I do have a pair or two of nice looking jeans for the weekend going out though.
Can you tell me more about Levi Strauss & Co. taper stretch jeans for men. The loser tall down and the stretch jeans fit just right around the thighs. He is a high school student always weight lifting for football as well as baseball, basketball. Does this style sound best for him? I am having a harder time finding this style is there a reason why? Hopefully you can answer mu question. Thank you for your time
I believe boot cut are best and theres a mistake in the 70's idea. Bell-bottom and boot cut are two different styles. Men 25 and under should wear a different style than 25 and above. Showing your ankles is a style taken from female fashion. If any man wears Ultra skinny jeans take him out for respect of his father's last name.
I wore super skinny before. However, I was literally super skinny so there was excess material that didn’t make me look more like a stick than I already did. Not to mention I couldn’t fit into anything bigger until I grew taller & put on more weight.
What should i do because i love skinny jeans because they fit perfectly and fall amazingly on my shoes without covering them but my quads are big but i have big quads and big calves so it's hard for me to find good jeans
I love a tight fit on my calves and also a stacked look at the end but i hate it because i have thick quads so it gets really uncomfortable but i hate how slim or relaxed, straight fit because it doesn't look good on my shoes
Considering that most gay people are much more stylish than their straight counterpart due to actually caring about themselves and not worrying about looking dirty/masculine, I think that would probably be a compliment.
I'm a guy and i have a curvy body. Almost as if it's a female body. My legs are slim but my butt is round and bulged out. I wear skinny jeans and most of compliments i get are from women 😂😂. I dont know if i should be proud lol
Me personally I would like to find a happy median between relaxed and straight cut jeans. Something not too baggy but at the same time wont restrict any movement or air flow and most importantly won't look tacky during regular everyday use.
I laugh when guys wear slim or super slim jeans with big shoes,
I wear levis527 slimbootcut with converse shoes and it look good to me with jean jacket.
Levis bootcut is not reallywide or loose it just in the middle between slimfit and loose thats why i choose 527 or 514 straight
