Was having a frustrating afternoon... It's my day off, but the day flew by with me not getting enough done. Randomly threw this on and wow, I feel so much more relaxed. This is an incredible album. I hope that everyone out there has this album make them feel the same way. Have a great week, everybody.

Browsing some Aimee Mann and I saw this on the side bar and that album title peaked my curiosity. I don't get to search out new music as often as I once did. It's always nice to come across a little spark of life like this now and again. Thanks :)

I have anxiety (not diagnosed, but i am pretty sure i have it, or maybe something that appears like it...maybe even worse, idk). music like this help me relax. my mind is just too powerful and at the same time too broken for me to handle on my own, so i rely on external forces to help ease the pain. i am so thankful to have stumbled upon indie folk music 7 years ago. until now, i am a regular listener. i barely meet people who have the same taste in music as i do. and when i do, i connect with them effortlessly at a spiritual level. <3

That hit at 13:38 is like a comet falling and crashing into where you are. It's like letting go of grief inside you and it makes you forgive yourself as you say it. Gregory's understands the wilderness of human psychology not from a book (maybe) but from silence (or not) of an event that just shines out meaning

If you are looking for a similar look at an artist's soul through their music, I would recommend John Frusciante's solo work. Specifically the albums Curtains and The Will To Death. Happy listening

I used to play this over and over two years ago, yesterday I was trying to remember this to play it again and sadly the only thing I remembered is the video drawing, now I saw a similar image on youtube, clicked it and yeah somehow it came across again, it just appeared on similar videos :D call it smart algorithm or as you want but in fact as a matter of destiny, it will happen if you really want it to

When I was a kid everything fascinated me and I paid close attention to little things like the texture of the wood trim around a window or a steering wheel turning and lately I haven't been able to focus on the little things like that and this music has reminded me to slow down and live life day to day stop thinking about the future and focus on now and notice those little things and remember them hold on to them cause they make you you I lost myself but now I remember who I was who I am and why I should care

It's so nice to listen to this in the morning. Makes one feel that life isn't so bad after all and that there are beautiful things in this world that await our presence! That one can genuinely smile amidst the storm and dance in the rain! That there are good people in this world that are worth meeting. Such wonderful music.

Currently living and working in Zion National Park. I've worked and lived in Yellowstone National Park 5 years ago, and after went back to civilization, where I fell into a deep depression. I felt separated from nature, the only thing that keeps me sane. Living in a city is the worst thing and I'm so glad I've made the decision to come back to the lifestyle that I know I'm meant to live. I have decided that I am going to spend my life in nature. I will work in National Parks until I have enough money saved to buy property in the mountains, and build myself a cabin to live fully off grid in. For the first time in 5 years, I feel I have a reason to live. Listening to Gregory Alan Isakov brings out all of those emotions and drive to reach the goal I have set for myself. His music really touches my soul, and makes me feel like I am making the right decision for myself. It's a sense of reassurance that I am not different, but that I just need to do something different to make myself a better person and be happy and content with life. Since I've come back to this lifestyle, I realized how sad and depressed I was before getting back to what makes me, me. I am happy and feel as if a weight has been lifted off of me. I love my life, and I love that I have the opportunity to go on an amazing journey and be in what makes me happy, and enjoy every bit of nature that I have around me. Much love yall!! Do what makes you happy, even if its not the societal norm. Peace!

This always helps me when I need it, it's not mine please read and know that you are loved. Desiderata Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy. Max Ehrmann, Desiderata, Copyright 1952.

I am so grateful for this album, for the way it is making me feel right now, like everything is goint to be good, like everything will work out in the end. I am in love with the sound, it is so calming and sweet, like a gust of cold, salty air after a long day indoors. A taste of carelessness, a true piece of art.

Thinking about one of the best person I ever knew, listening to this and feeling warm from the second shot. Random Monday evening. The funeral is on Thursday and I can’t bring myself together even thinking about it. Guess I still have some time. * I know She would enjoy this music, as She did life in general.

My best friend gave up on me because she thought that i am a " toxic " person just because i was and i actually am depressed sometimes. This wonderful songs remind me that it s not my fault because she leaved me after seven years of friendship.if i am suffering,it means that at least i do care. if she is not suffering at all, it means that she never truly cared . So...i hope that someone understands me and prays for me, cuz i am going to pray for others who are suffering. Peace and love! And never give up!Heal yourself first!

I’ve been listening to him almost everyday on repeat. I need to find someone else to listen to before I ruin his music for myself. Any recommendations of anything similar to him? I’ve already tried listening to Lord Huron, tallest man on earth, iron and wine, Bon iver, and the avett brothers but they just do do it for me... please leave any suggestions

Obviously not quite the same but Sixto Rodriguez https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWjUuWzF43I has a lot of the same feel with the singer/songwriter thing and the backing strings. most of his songs are much more uptempo and a bit dylanesque with a better voice Andy Shauf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PN0RPWII7gY kind of has that same subtle intensity that Isakov has, but there are a lot more layers to the music. still pretty mellow though. Sort of like Bon Iver and Iron and Wine/Sam Beam is Devandra Banhart, even if you don't like the others you might like him. Edited: OH shit, how could I forget? Vetiver (well, about 1/2 or thier songs) is probably the closest thing to Isakov, but a bit more polished. Some of their songs are quite slow though. Here's an example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kz5DPMPAsL8

Cursed your captain and stow me below Hold me amongst all your cards Oh we were sea bound and aimless at best, Clutching to the wheel and those charts, but that sea was just a gambler at heart Oh there we were; the sun hit the starboard, And we were as free as we could be. We waited for land; oh we waited for thee We aimed to stay calm and cool, But that sea was just a gambling fool Come to me, Mary come; you know you once were queen The ocean is holding all the kings, And tossed aside the weary How I’d love to steer you straight into those waters While those daunting clouds above began to pour  And when we’re found, we’ll kiss that ground, And roll around on that lovers floor Come to me, Mary come; you know you once were queen The ocean is holding all the kings, And tossed aside the weary The ocean holding everything, And tossed aside the weary Aw that dreadful, gambling sea
