How does one keep a capsule wardrobe through pregnancy and weight loss?
Elly Bea (10 days ago)
Great video and I love your planning process but do people really shop this way? I never buy a whole new wardrobe every season. Who can afford to do that? I would prefer a video on how to buy two or three new pieces and integrate them into your existing wardrobe. I would like to see how you would refine and update a wardrobe of basics like jeans and tops to create a better wardrobe that mixes and matches well.
Mara aaa (12 days ago)
What about a quarter of that budget?
Mara aaa (10 days ago)
+Daria Andronescu you're right, i made a bit of an uneducated comment. But my budget is that limited for now ( sad student life lol) i think after saving money i could stretch my budget a bit more but i still can't afford to pay more than 40-60 for a piece, maybe more for shoes, coats and bags. Since i commented i filtered my current wardrobe and i have some pieces i can work with so that should also extend my budget (as i have less to buy). Thanks for the motivation, i had some unnecessary trouble with my wardrobe and your videos made it easier to understand.
Daria Andronescu (11 days ago)
If you buy new clothes it’s impossible to have such a small budget. Just think about it. If you have 250 budget for let’s say 10 item’s wardrobe, it means each item should not cost more than 25... which of course is not enough .
Puppy Pu (1 month ago)
That is an enormous budget for me! 🙆

+Daria Andronescu Thank you for the tips Daria! Your videos are very enjoyable 😊
Daria Andronescu (1 month ago)
Yes, but this wardrobe is quite big! You might not even need that much new clothing, or you could get some stuff vintage or second hand and reduce the total budget.
H W (1 month ago)
inspired by this video. I've just checked my closet to make sure i have enough clothes for the upcoming Spring/Summer office season (am in Southern Hemisphere). I do...and only added 6 new items since last Spring/Summer (picked up through the year at sales) : https://pin.it/hfwvxnkci52pil

all navy/black/white/blue ...so a bit boring but is a corporate wardrobe. Couldnt find grey or white bottons....so all dark but different silhouettes
Daria Andronescu (1 month ago)
Looks great!!! ❤️
H W (1 month ago)
Where I live, the climate is cool for 9 months of the year. So it makes more sense to spend the majority of the annual budget on the transitional seasons (autumn or spring), as jackets/cardigans are required. These items may also be useful in winter. I would never spend the majority of my clothing budget on summer clothes, as my summer is not long, and am frequently confined to air-conditioned spaces when it is summer.

Yes! Very smart ;)

Your capsule wardrobe is wonderful. Could you make some up showing no skirts/dresses for winter and no long sleeves for summer. I'm in Southeastern Pennsylvania and it gets to o° and below in the dead of winter and I wouldn't think of wearing a dress. It's the end of May here and I've just about finished with long sleeves, way too hot now. I'm curious what to replace the skirts/dresses with. Thanks.

Hi Daria. I love your approach on creating the perfect individual wardrobe and I think it's really important to buy items consciously. Where would you fit brands like: COS, & other stories, Karen Millen, Massimo Dutti? Fast fashion or sustainable? Thank you. Keep up the good work!
Daria Andronescu (8 months ago)
Hi Laura! Thank you! I am glad you like my methods ☺️ Other stories is fast fashion brand. Cos is not fast fashion but they don’t provide information about their suppliers. Karen Mullen is not fast fashion but is super outdated in my opinion. Massimo Dutti is not fast fashion but as well as Cos is not transparent at all. You can also be ethical by buying secondhand. For example, I buy really nice vintage silk blouses on etsy and ebay. Or used shoes. I've built an entire wardrobe that's really nice and has designer names attached for a fraction of the cost because there all used.
Brittany Storey (1 year ago)
I love how you showed how much money to save each month. I don't think it is unreasonable to save 200 a month while it might sound hard I'd rather pit a fee dollars away everyday, wait and save to invest in clothes I can own and wear for many years. If I get my shopping done strategically and can have the wardrobe of my dreams it is worth it. I've probably spent double what these capsual wardrobes cost on fast cheap fashion over the year because my clothes just don't last or I bought things I never really cared for in the first place. I love your channel keep up the fabulous work!
Ida Taing (1 year ago)
This is the most helpful video on effectively building a wardrobe that works for your style and budget. It was very helpful refreshing to see the breakdown on how much to save and how many pieces you can buy and what effect that has on the rest of the wardrobe in terms of outfits for each season. I find that most videos about budget style are too focused on a dollar amount for each clothing item (e.g. "10 Winter Finds Under $100!" or something like to that effect and just tapers off from that singular point in terms of budget helpfulness). This is a great, well-rounded approach in handling your finances and your wardrobe at the same time. Thank you for making this!
Daria Andronescu (1 year ago)
+Ida Taing thank you very much! I am so glad you found it useful and refreshing. I agree with you that no one really shows how much the whole wardrobe actually costs. When we don't know how many outfits we already have and how much money was spent, the shopping will never stop. And that isn't investing in yourself, but wasting money.
Sara Nalin (1 year ago)
Wow this channel is amazing! Can't wait to build my own capsule :) Thanks for sharing your secrets!

Daria, I love all your videos and your sunny personality! About this one just wanted to say that capsule for cold seasons with short sleeved tops and without outerwear and boots is kind of unrealistic for most countries. And they are usually the biggest investment.

You could easily do a year round capsule at Everlane for $500 minus shoes. I love the structure and content of your videos, but some pieces are a bit too trendy for a "budget" wardrobe IMO.
Daria Andronescu (1 year ago)
+K H I love Everlane! I talked about it in my AMA video. I always pick there some basics for my clients wardrobes. But I don't think you can buy a wardrobe there for the whole year for 500. Maybe if you live somewhere where there isn't any season change, like it's summer all the time. And anyway Everlane offers very simple clothes without any unique design, very basic. Not everybody can wear basics all year long. For example, I would go crazy for sure haha
ItsThembeka (1 year ago)
Great video as always. Could you do a video on finding your personal colour palette?

Daria Andronescu (1 year ago)
You just need to practise and experiment more with your style, with combining different shapes and colours, and then through trial and error you will eventually train your eyes to see that happy middle.

Hi Daria. Awesome video, great strategy, very affordable. I have been trying to build my capsule wardrobe, I used to shop a lot lot, now I try to rather buy one thing a month that is an investment than spend the same amount on several cheapy trendy clothes. Sometimes I am more successful, sometimes I am less. I still have that internal fight though as I love clothes, shopping and trendy looks and I am worried that having a capsule would kill my creative spirit and wearing the same things over and over again will bore me. I watch a lot of capsule wardrobe YouTubers and it seems like the clothes to be worn for age need to be neutral, not too fancy, not very colourful. What is your advise? How to make sure that I buy the right thing that will not bore me in a year? Can a capsule wardrobe be creative and fun?
Daria Andronescu (1 year ago)
Of course, you're the one who's deciding how your wardrobe should look like. If you want creative and fun, then just go for it. I am absolutely sure it's possible :) And that internal fight you have might be because you chose for your capsule clothes that don't fully express your style or you're just not that crazy about them. And successful wardrobe is when you love and enjoy wearing every item. Just try to imagine how your ideal wardrobe looks like, or better visualise it and create a mood board with outfits you would really like to have. Then it will be much easier to understand what you need to change in your capsule to make it more you.
Thank you for answering my request to have a more budget capsule wardrobe. It requires some savings of course but the reward is phenomenal. I really love your fashion style as well - very elegant, timeless, and edgy.

Thanks Daria! I really appreciate all your work and effort you put in your videos, they're the best! Not kidding, this is by far the best channel about capsule wardrobes I found so far. Really like your practical examples and the useful information you give us! I went through that process last year. Almost all of my clothes were worn out, so I had to replace them. Although I didn't buy clothes from ehtical brands (definitely would today!), I made sure everything is of good quality and I would wear the things for several years to come. Including shoes (not bags!) I spend approximately 1500€ but only for high quality materials like cotton, leather, silk and cashmere. As for 2017 I won't need much, my budget's around 500€ (I have a really small capsule, but I'm ok with that, I don't need much). What would I do different today? Probably buying more stuff secondhand (bought all of my scarves and bags on ebay), this will save you a lot of money and it's still super-environmental friendly. :) My best tip is to search for brands you already know fit you well and the most obvious: Use things you already own! :) Hope you all have a wonderful day!
Daria Andronescu (1 year ago)
Great advice! Thank you for sharing your process. Yes, I agree that you can save a lot if you buy second hand or vintage, and I think it also gives more personality to your wardrobe. Makes it unique in a way.
Imola Szilágyi (1 year ago)
i just made some calculations and you cab get these at h&m for around 220 euros, 250 if you add a bag. everyone hates on h&m but they have some good stuff, just don't buy the trendy pieces. and they have the premium collection with nicer quality cotton and leather. and you don't have to buy everything full price. i like the idea if spending more on quality but i wont spend more then 25$ on a blouse or more then 30$ on pants/skirts for example. 70 is pushing the limit for an occasion dress or coat winter coat/jaket, also shoes.
Roxa D (1 year ago)
Imola Szilágyi yeah your point is totally valid if you only care about the price, but it's about so much more than that. It's about making sure no one suffered in the process of making the clothes, from animals (aka buying vegan) to the people who created the fabric and so on (aka sweatshop free). H&M is the perfect example of a company that cares only about profit and doesn't give a flying fuck about its employees. Also their clothes don't last, being of mediocre (at most) quality thus needing to be replaced after let's say 2 years - so on the long run it's not worth it. A good idea would be trying to but second hand, vintage, quality and affortable clothing!
Anindya Putri (1 year ago)
yes yes! thank you for this video, Daria. I really wanted to try building capsule wardrobe for a long time but transitioning is confusing and scary. but this video clears things up for me. thank you so much!✨ one question tho, what was the first website you showed us? I love the collection!
Daria Andronescu (1 year ago)
That's so nice! I am glad this video lesson helped you to see how it all works! The first website is Olive Clothing - an ethical brand from UK.
Annette Ferguson (1 year ago)
Isn't it more economical to use some clothes you already have instead of buying everything new? Other than the expense, love your videos.
Daria Andronescu (1 year ago)
This video is for those who is planning to buy a new wardrobe. I already made a couple of video about the transition to the capsule using clothes you already have: Wear All your Clothes (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLB_wHC_s02d6XJrO4QObl1D-ZLgK1FSjs) and How to always know what to wear (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OodDXtlpDHw&t=79s)
Natasha Lindner (1 year ago)
I am planning my transition by starting with end of season sales, and notes to coordinate, and styles that suit my apple shape (to stay focused), as well as the decluttering process of giving away 10 items a week.  Three weeks in and I have hung up my transition capsule and I feel like I am getting on top of this.  I set out with a yearly budget and this then helped me hone in on what I could afford for items both in cool/warm.

Thanks a lot for this but 1000€ is a LOT of money
St. Rhinocéros (13 days ago)
If you consider a person shopping fast fashion for fun, if they bought $40 worth of cheap clothes twice per month (like a trip to the mall every other weekend) it would be almost $1000 per year. That's well within average spending behavior. Of course, plenty of people are not out on shopping sprees for fun and they just flat out don't have $1000 to spend on clothes no matter how it's parceled out (I'm in that boat right now). But I'd also consider that many people wanting to transition to capsule wardrobes aren't starting out from scratch like in this video-- they already have a wardrobe with at least some clothes they want to keep as capsule items.
moxiousch (1 year ago)
For super affordable wardrobe, you probably have to work a lot more: look around in thrift shops and buy good condition/quality finds to be tailored if need be. Watch for discounts online and in local designer stores and buy a little at a time. It takes much more time but it's possible.
DMXredNico (1 year ago)
Try buying less good quality clothes for one year, maybe a nice coat or a nice outfit, and use the clothes you already have. In the meantime, save up for next year and for when you find a good deal on. Don't worry if it takes you longer. Personally, I have started 2 years ago, and I bought 8 items that I really think go in my capsule wardrobe, but it took a lot of trial and error and some money spent badly. Good luck!
Anindya Putri (1 year ago)
vonigner it is. but for ethical designer clothes with high quality it's very affordable. I don't think you have to follow her to the T tho, she just showed us the process for transitioning your wardrobe and €1000 happens to be her budget this time. you can start with your own budget. personally, I will set my own budget plan and try to look for local designer brands that have good quality and are affordable (for my broke college student's pocket anyway lol).
